  1. Couple of "big brand stores" get their fair share of bad press .... long time cyclists move on to the few shops with dedicated workshops. I bought a new bike from a "local bike shop" some time back .... First ride, 10km into the ride, the seat post starts dropping .... they did appologise for not torquing it down correctly. Bike on the workshop stand ... various bolts over the bike is not torqued correctly, some plain loose .... actually very few shops that do a proper pre-delivery check !! Friend takes a MTB in for a major service to this same shop, in preparation of W2W. New steerer bearings down to a full strip down and service of the suspension and linkages, etc etc .... half way through stage 1 of W2W the brakes start dragging heavily, could barely push the bike at the end of the stage .... (okay, I do have my opinion on properly test riding a serviced bike before an event...) Braai-fire talk about this shop is one thing. But they get away with this year after year .... simply enough new riders, and enough people that just keep taking the bikes back for a service not understanding just how crap the service is .....
  2. We have used this one at Bootleggers in Stellenbosch. Works good enough Makes good use of very limited space. But ..... have to wonder about the logistics of packing it away ..... must be way to make it a quick assembly unit ....
  3. If you go for this type, just make sure a 29x3 can fit ... yes, many 2,8 tyres out there. Add caster wheels at one end, just above ground level .... lift the other end and you can easily move these at the end of the day.
  4. Kyamandi .... STAY CLEAR Cloetesville .... a few incidents every week ... hundreds of cyclists daily. Still SUCKS !!! But if you can link up with other cyclists for that 1km it drastically improves your safety. Whatever you do .... DONT trust "pedestrians" along that section.
  5. To Neethlingshof Transition zone .... What a trail run .... Back home by bicycle ... straight into the pool
  6. I love your posts here.
  7. Michael have you considered documenting your trip ? You most certainly are making THEE best use of the working remotely option. As much as it must have its challenges .... WOW !! what an experience !
  8. Top Tip .... For those with CWC / CL loyalty program. R150 Durbie Dash discount voucher ... I got another R150 member voucher .... Lady pointed out the option to do a Ford survey .... another R200 voucher Ohhhh and if you are in the market .... R20k discount if you buy a Ford ....
  9. Am I reading your broshures correctly ? OP asked for "at least 50mm" ..... Diverge specs shows 45mm while the Crux shows 40 mm.
  10. I have the Assos without the pockets. (Pockets could be very handy) Excellent on rides over 6 hours
  11. Same here. First one had me swopping out saddles and chasing my tail .... just to find out that the this sides were rolling up and the cause of all the issues. It was swopped out ... test fit showed the same issue. I gave it away, new owner very happy with it ... I had a look at the Corsa cycling shorts, same issue. From the cheap sportshop cycling pants to Assos, the Corsa's are the only model I avoid.
  12. Have to agree with Michael. Few years back I was trying out various saddles and bibs and and .... @NotSoBigBen "politely" suggested I spend more time in the saddle and become "saddle fit" ... not what I wanted to hear, but it worked. YES, a bad fit or a bad quality bib needs to be addressed. After very bad experience with two off entry level Ciovita bibs .... avoid their entry level bibs. (the thin sides roll and cause bad pain)
  13. These Hubbers have bought bibs on the last few pages - @RobynE 🚵‍♀️ @Byran Pr @Gripen_85 @BuffsVintageBikes Would be interesting to hear the medium erm feedback ....
  14. Slight detour to work ... soaking in the morning air .... Some fun on the way home .... PB's with the wind .... and then the "fun" started ....

    Karoorack

I would still drop a plumbline behind that sparewheel to check what length that 50mm section must be ... then call them to make sure.

    Karoorack

Seems like they do accommodate the rear spare tyre layout.
  17. In THEORY there is a 1,5m pass distance in the CoCT By-Laws .... REALITY .... only day before Argust when Winddy And Co comes out to collect votes .... the rest of the year the CoCT shows ZERO support for cyclists ....
  18. https://www.facebook.com/61577314779218/posts/pfbid02jGmZFzG2tTScygYdNiuQqnhRnG9t3C93SHQqYBr6zLkcfAjb8fH7U9cJyvLwVsfQl/?app=fbl Anybody tried this ? For those without Facebook - TrackGo Pro
  19. Sure CBR Durbanville can assist you
  20. Hiehie .... Some technical benefits to Option 2 (if you are happy with the stick on guides) Option 4 ..... how much slack does your current line have ? Should be enough to move some of the slack to the "clamp position", use this slack shift the cable to the side of the frame at this point. Now use some of the clear frame protection strips to "strap" the cable in this position. No need to re-route and re-do the brake system. And the clamp wont touch the brake hose ..... But wait, there is more .... Now your clamps goes onto a plastic layer which protects your frame. Option 5 .... some very brave soul would drill a hole in the downtube and route the cable internally, exiting below the BB ..... ALL depending on the condition of the frame and your future plans for it.

    Cape Epic 2026

@DieselnDust you can DOOooooo it !! @madgwicd let's see if you get any takers. "Alpine coaches Western Cape" have had teams in the Epic for a few years, by the nature of the beast some of their teams may need a late replacement. I can assist in putting you in contact if you need to at a later stage.
  22. Perfect commute ....
  23. Bit of info .... Q20 & WD40 are for water displacement. Sure, it is handy for a few more things ... but it was never intended to be a lubricant. Oil would be better as a lubricant .... but very messy and it would attract dirt, thus damaging the chain. There are valid reasons for "chain lube". A bottle lasts very long. Really worth it.
