  1. A quality bike handler would be able to show him a brown-eye too. I reckon it's ok to ask this guy where his helmet is, provided you are also prepared to ask: - Parents why they bring their kids to the pub - Obese people why they eat so much - People who speed why they're driving so fast - People why they smoke
  2. If I understand the Shimano post above, it is only bikes with triple chainrings that need long-cage deraillers. You can also run a short-cage derailler with a triple ring if you don't use the bottom-four cogs at the back while in the small blade at the front.
  3. I reckon you are better off going the BBB route, probably better quality.
  4. Those guys are frikkin insane!
  5. Head down the N12 towards witbank... more directions when you give me those wheels... Hell' date=' gimme the whole CX bike...[/quote'] hahaha - tell you what: give me directions and I'll let you have a spin once I get there.
  6. ? Would imagine just as legal as the locals panning for gold there!question answered. So here is the thing....would your medical/bike insurance pay you out if you you did some damage while trespassing? I recently had to claim on my medical insurance after crashing while trespassing. I'm happy to report that I was paid out Where is Putfontein? It would be really nice to have a once-a-week MTB race fairly close to home. I still miss Mintek.
  7. Great pics, Willehond. The clinchers and the lack of ratchets are the highlight for me!
  8. I must admit that despite being a staunch Campy fan, this groupset doesn't look as nice as its predecessor. I'm sure it works beautifully though. Also, it looks like they've solved one of my few longstanding complaints about campy, which is that it had one hand position less than sh#tmano.
  9. If you're hard up, Raleigh has good deals on TT bikes. If I remember correctly, they start at R7k for the full bike. You can buy their carbon TT frame for about R10k, but I have my doubts as to whether it matches the likes of Cervelo in aerodynamics. I think a second-hand P2 might be cheaper and better.
  10. If I were giving em away, you'd be first in line - if that makes you feel any better. I'm gonna ride it on my usual morning routes, which are fast resembling a trials course with all the obstacles, pot holes, Neotel ditches etc... I'll also try it out on the spruit on Sunday with IanJ and Bored Girl. I reckon it'll be fine for the less technical MTB races too - particularly Northern Farms. Last year's 24-hour course was perfect for a CX bike.
  11. Don't lie! And you can't have them!
  12. Where is the CX racing in Jozi - I got a new toy to try out
  13. A certain Barloworld rider's chance of winning green next month just got a little bit better?
  14. You are right: I didn't ride Sabie X. And I usually use Bontrager bottles with the Bontrager cages. Didn't grant do this? Care to suggest a better bottle cage? I have yet to find one, but I don't deny that it might exist.
  15. Carbon bottle cages are for posers. If you want a cage that won't drop a bottle, get Bontrager's plastic cage.
  16. I reckon Westdene will give you the best deal on this light.
  17. I think the new Sh$tmano levers are even uglier than the current ones
  18. I think the sizing purists might have some problems with this bike's design
  19. I know there was much scepticism when we made the leap from 9spd to 10spd, but I don't think this is a step in the right direction. Think Campy and Sh#tmano should be thinking about other innovations, such as bringing super lightweight disk brakes into road groupsets. This would solve a lot of the headaches people have with alternating carbon rims with aluminium ones.
  20. Sounds dodgy, specifically the alleged "runaround" - not appearing at arranged meetings and not answering phone calls. Hope you get your money Joss.
  21. I suspect if there are any links between cycling and medical problems under the cycling shorts it is do with people who ride more than 15 hours a week and whose bikes are not properly set up. Most of us fail to meet both criteria, so let's worry about more important things, such as who's gonna win the 2008 TdF
