I had a bad case last year due to overuse. Confirmed via scans. I did require anti inflamatories and then after complete rest for 2 months it was lots of work with a biokineticist that got things right. This should include stretches, roller work and functional training.

At least I got to enjoy that downhill for longer than you did! ;-) Just how fast were you going????

My thoughts are with the rider and his family. Every day doctors and researchers are finding better ways of healing people and a few years back the likes of Pippie Kruger (that little girl who got badly burnt) would have died. Due to the dedication of doctors and medical researchers she has not only survived, but is healing. I truly hope for this young rider (I'm in my 40s so I can call him young) there will be equally good and successful doctors and surgery for his particular needs and that they can put his spine back together and that he will regain not only feeling but movement and strength.

I will just have to try get there in time to get to my tog bag and pull the Cow suit back on before... ;-) if it is that hot again next year you now know where to find me!

By that point I could no longer sweat... That is what 2 bottles of water poured over a cows' head looks like. Stage 3 almost killed me... No cold water at end stage 2 and no water point on stage 3 was grim. it was all I could do to not climb into that tub that the water bottles were in at the end of stage 3. Does anyone know where I can look for pics?

I was the girl Cow. Only wore the suit on stage 1. Tony wore his suit stages 1 and 4 AND used his ss for stage 4!!! :-O

I have to confess to being a wheel sucker. That first stage in the cow suit took it out of me and I was not was well trained as I would have liked, so I simply grabbed the back of bunches for as long as I could before being spat out the back. I was in pure survival mode. Hopefully next year I will be fit enough to do my fair share of work at the front of a bunch or two.

That "view" passed my friend and I on either stage 1 or 2 (can't recall exactly where) and it was so nauseating we slowed down beyond our already-crawl speed in order to let it get farrrrrrrr away from us. My time is likely to be so slow that it should be fairly easy to beat it next year ;-)

I did smoke for 20 years. It is a disgusting habit and it stinks. And even without a lit cigarette in their hand most (not all, just most) smokers stink. As to the stompie-chucking habit.... Gross and irresponsible. Even when I did smoke I used the ashtrays in the car because I hate litter and I didn't want to be the caused of a veld fire.

Stage 2 last year was insane... Head wind of note.
