  1. Thanks everyone. Now all I need to do is convince my riding pal to NOT bring his MTB or he is going to have a very slow and lonely ride
  2. I agree 100%. A Top Fuel is the way to go whether it is alloy or carbon. I have had one since 2021 and have over 6000km on it. I have done marathon races, bike park, easy trails and even enduros on that bike. It is simply a great allrounder, which seems to tick the boxes you are looking for. As for brand support, Trek has helped me with a seized BB and a smashed carbon wheel under warranty, so questions asked. All I needed was my invoice to prove I was the original owner. I also managed to break a suspension mounting bolt a few days before a race and their Head Office sorted me out with a new one free of charge. There is stock available, examples of the one model I would suggest. Speak nicely and maybe they will discount to get it within your budget, especially as the 4th gen model is arriving next month. 2023 Trek Top Fuel 9.7 – biket.co.za 2023 Trek Top Fuel 9.7 - Hex Blue – biket.co.za I would also suggest that the Giant Trance 29 would be a great option, but no dealer seems to have them, and Giant's local distributor seems to be pricing the Trance 29 at premium levels for a mid-spec bike (I am a Giant fanboy, so this does hurt me). The previous gen Specialized Epic Evo would also be a great option. I know a couple of people who have them and love them, though I cannot comment on the ownership experience in terms of backup etc Feel free to drop me a PM if you want any further info about the Trek
  3. Planning on heading to SBR this weekend. Can anyone confirm if the reserve is open?
  4. They are 100% legit and offer good service
  5. Used Aramex Global for a deal off the Pinkbike classifieds. Worked like a charm
  6. Wonder how long before the riders and soigneurs strip their moers for those bottles
  7. For the 4DP test there is no resistance. You use your gears and legs to put out as much power as possible without going bang over the 4 "Tests" in the hour
  8. That 4DP test is evil
  9. Have a look at the Syncros Tailor bottle cage. Scott dealers have them. They can be setup for left or right hand use and are angled towards the applicable side. See pic below:
  10. Ordered via Zwift site and sent to SA via Aramex Global Shopper Apparently it is an open protocol that will be made available to other platforms to use in future. I'm only on Zwift, so not an issue for me
  11. Got hold of a Zwift Click yesterday, Makes a big difference as I'm using the MTB (30t chainring) on the trainer. I've regularly run out of gears when racing and get dropped as soon as the group presses on a bit. The virtual gearing will solve this problem
  12. Takealot also has some available
  13. No. The Z2 is essentially a Fox 34 Rhythm with an open cartridge damper and 34mm stanchions. The Z1 is essentially a Fox 36 Rhythm. Yes, Fox owns and manufacturers Marzocchi suspension components and those forks are much better than an the Rockshox 35
  14. He's looking for a trail bike, not an XC or down country bike. A Titan Skyrim should be in the list as well. Of the two, I'd probably go for the Giant myself
  15. Doddy from GMBN Tech explains it best. You will probably need a bit of force and a twisting motion to get it out
  16. I pushed it out using an Allen key.
  17. Same thing happened to me. The pin that goes through the clutch was seized. Pulled it out, cleaned it, hosed the spring in WD40 and gave it some love with some fine grit sandpaper and reassembled it. Smooth shifting all the way 👍🏻
  18. KZN Enduro Champs at Karkloof. Great day out on the bike!
  19. A better fork would be nice as would a dropper post. Some lighter wheels as well. But no need to upgrade components until they are worn out or in need of replacing IMO. You need to decide what is "holding you back" and then decide if an upgrade or a new bike will solve the problem
  20. Thanks! I'll drop you a message so I can organise to get hold of it and see what you would like for ti
  21. Anyone have a brake cable clamp for a Rockshox Pike:
  22. My suspension always makes this noise. Don't worry about it. Just stick to the service intervals for it and your shock and you'll be fine
  23. My forks and shocks (Rockshox and Fox) are always making equalising noises when they reach the sag point. I'd be worried if they were noisy and not feeling great
  24. Sounds the same as my freshly serviced Pike.
  25. Will this be heading to a court of law or have charges not been laid?
