  1. Hey, when can i pick up my prize??
  2. Well done, thats seriously impressive!
  3. I know this was a few weeks back, but i had forgotton about the pics. So here are a few from the JHB afternoon fork service class...
  4. Great pics Ben, looks like you had a great time! See they didnt put the floating bridge up on the lagoon for you guys? Did you have any of the floating bridges?
  5. I think you are right, its a little stronger than a normal one, and the ends of the skewer are not tapered down like normal skewers to save weight, they keep that 'barrel' shape to the ends to fit the clamps on the frame. I picked up a spare skewer like that at Cajees once, but im sure any store that stocks shimano will be able to get you one, as its brought in by coolheat. Call your LBS for a price.
  6. My TacX Flow trainer came with a special skewer, that is designed to fit into the clamps on the IDT frame. Its nothing special from what i can see, its just deisigned so that the bike fits securley when clamped on. Looks like this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/tacx-t1402-skewer.jpg http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Tacx_T1402_Quick_Release_Skewer/5360010556/
  7. Ive had the 540's for 4 years now, and not had a days trouble with them. Cant comment on the 520's but like you say i think they differ on the bearing seals, and they have a collar that you can unscrew with a special Shimano tool and service your self. My very old M525 pedals are still going strong after about 15 years, and they use the same tool / collar interface so i suppose the 520's should be fine. The 770's are the XT branded pedals arnt they? My girlfreind rides a set of XT, and they are from what i can see identical to my 540's, just branded as XT. Save your bucks and go for the 520's!
  8. Nice bike and a really great paintjob, but i cant help but ask why did you rebrand the model of the frame and fork to a higher spec? The frame is clearly an alu SL01, yet you have re-sprayed it as an 09 carbon SLT01. Same goes for the fork, which was an Easton EC70, and has now been rebranded as a EC90? Im not knocking it, the bike will look great, but why not keep the model numbers / names the same, and just use the colour scheme of the better model? Also if / when you ever sell it, how would you describe the bike? Obvioulsy the full carbon EC90 fork and the SLT01 frame are worth a lot more, so it could cause a problem?
  9. Ill be attending the afternoon workshop, and Amateur will be joing me. As far as i know Sonic will also be there, and from the email i think nathrix as well?
  10. On my 705 you hold down the bottom left button for 3 seconds if im not mistaken? Try that...
  11. that is why I mentioned not to buy the kit but the loose parts. I think it works out to less then R150. Regarding the XTR cable inners, ive heard more than one person (inc. a lbs mechanic) complain about the black (teflon?) coating on the cable. They say it flakes off and clogs up the housing making shifting erratic? Anyone else had this problem? I run standard R15 cables on my XTR bike, and replace them when neccesary. Never had a problem with shifting
  12. Who did the paint job?
  13. Mountain Kings in mud anyday! With X-marks you might as well be using slicks!

  17. As far as i'm aware there are only 2 sizes of MTB BB shells 73mm and 68mm. It you buy one of the new external BB's, they come with spacers to fit either size BB, so you dont need to worry about the width. Regarding the thread, I think all MTB BB's these days are a standard (english) thread?
  18. New or secondhand? What wheels? I would say btw R15k & R18k, depending on the wheels and the condition of the bike.
