    Cricket......

Yip - by all accounts, he was unlucky... And that's from the Kiwi commentators....
  2. Enjoyed it immensely. PVR'ed it, and will be doing my best to start tracking down the soundtrack. Some sweet tunes.
  3. Heat kills me. Each to their own - but when it's hot, it's as if I'm trying to sling a rather overweight, dead buffel along with me up the hills... Cool weather and I feel like I can ride forever...
  4. Here's hoping this is well supported!
  5. Rest in Peace - and condolences to his family. Sad, sad day.
  6. That would be useful - could I ask you to push that button for me? Looks like I will be taking the train up to Whislter on the Saturday - plan on getting some riding in on Sunday & Monday, before heading back to Vancouver on the Tuesday for my flight back...
  7. [....stunned silence...] I hope this was a case of not having the right tools to extract the broken part - rather than a [face-palm] "why didn't I think of that..." Ps - kudos on finishing!
  8. Here be a youtube link sent to me by a good mate of mine (Boobaloo's in the brown pants)... Two of them gravity boarding over in Taiwan, on boards that they make themelves....(Zeppelins) Seriously cool soundtrack...
  9. Good on you Mr. B. It naturally goes without saying that such a project is pointless without pics.
  10. What h-bar are you running? Looking sweet!
  11. Wow!
  12. Hey SurfRase - in case you haven't yet been - welcome to the Hub! At that weight, most entry level shocks, from the recognised brands would be perfect. Rockshox Judy immediately springs to mind... They often have these on sale at CRC, and have seen some being sold for as little as R600.00... But that's the easy part. The really, really tricky part - is finding a new fork, or even a 2nd hand fork, with V-brake bosses... Very few of the new forks are still sold with v-brake bosses.... Again - keep your eye on CRC and the like, they sometimes get rid of 'new' older-stock, which is when you might get lucky... Due to the problem as above, it means you are more than likely going to have to look around for a decent 2nd hand fork, and the best place to do it would be here on the Hub. The one advantage to that, is that whereas they are older, you can sometimes pick-up one of the better models in the Fox/Rockshox range, since a few years ago, many of them still came out with both v-brake and disc tabs... So good luck with your search. This thread should probably be moved out of Rant & Rave, and in to one of the other sub-forums (Buyer's Guide/TechQ&A) - I'll leave it here for a bit, to allow other comments, and then move it. Thereafter, I suggest you pop up a Wanted Classifieds ad in the relevant section on the Hub.
  13. Fanks Hubbers! That is all.
  14. Big up to Hannes for fixing the light. Working like a charm... As alluded to earlier - the lack of air flow (i.e cooling) around the braai basically saw me melt the lamp's innards.... Taken it out for a few early morning rides, and is working a treat!
  15. THAT sir, is one good-looking bike.
  16. So - I was stoopid... Big thanks to Hannes Zietsman - will be picking up my lamp tomorrow - he managed to make a plan. Battery was fine - something in the lamp kicked the bucket due to prolonged use around the braai... Note to self: Use a mtb light on a mtb - use the Petzl around the braai... Will drop a line when I've chatted with him about what happened...
  17. For what it's worth - I only drive in reverse when I have my bike on the back and it's raining, since that way the water is hitting the bike from before-the-after - and it doesn't get any wetter than what it was before it was dry. Works like a charm. So all you clever people with your mumbo-jumbo newfangled science can go take a long walk off a short pier - coz science only works in some places. Like, doh. That is all.
  18. Good to hear - do you (need to) keep them charged constantly?
  19. Uhm - no - I reckon most Hubbers know by now that it's a knock off of a knock off of a knock off... But at R500.00(?) - I was willing to take my chances... Which is why I'm not ranting - I'm enquiring about options.
  20. Thanks Tiny! Will drop him a pm. Was pretty much an impulse buy - so did zip research before or after... Never even crossed my mind to check what battery it had - mind boggles at having to keep something charged regardless of whether or not it gets used... Wait - cheap cheap is what I keep hearing in the background of my mind.... But then thinking about it a bit more - so is it possible for the battery to charge sufficiently to "light-up"the green button on the back of the lamp, but not enough for the lamp to actually light-up?
  21. Ah... Guess that could be it? Didn't realise the battery would need to be kept charged? Battery seems to be working though - when I connect the charger to the battery, without the charger plug being plugged into the mains - its little light that is usually red, turns green - which suggests its getting juice from the battery, no?
  22. Yip... They were super-specials...
  23. Hello Hubbers.... Bought a torch on super-special a few months back... At the price, the advice was that even if it only lasts a year, it is worth it... Now a serious of progressively more lingering njuries have been keeping me off the bike for far too long... But the things are slowly looking on the up.The point being, that as ashamed as I am to admit it, the torch has yet to be tested on a bike in anger - and has been relegated to use around the braai area, to blind some mates... So... Planned to use it a few mornings back, for the 1st time on the bike - charged the battery, and when the light on the charger went from red to green - I unplugged the charger, plugged in the lamp, hit the (now glowing-green) switch on back......, and zip. Three times of light-giving life, and now nothing. Is that it - or can these be repaired? Any thoughts? Oh - will pop up a pic in a bit...
