  1. If you only ride one bike and do 500k per week it’s too much of hasle, you can still run squirt most of the time and do a nice clean / fresh wax two days before each race
  2. Not worth it imo, Squirt is fine for the MTB
  3. Yeah no you should get 2 to 300k. If the chain isn't stiff after treatment (I mean, a few hours post treatment) you likely have too much oil in. I don't wait for the Wax to settle before taking the chain out, because it takes a long time, and I'm doing several chains at a time. I usually do chains about every 2 weeks, so that's around 700km spread mostly between two bikes, sometimes a third. So I would say about 250 to 300km per bike. Rain does though throw a spanner in the works. This winter I've decided to use Squirt on the MTB, which is now my wet weather bike.
  4. sho I had no idea... here our roads are mostly in good condition and packed with cyclists on the weekends. Only reason I ride the gravel bike mostly is the abundance of idiots in their cars or on their feet that can't open their damn eyes and/or use them
  5. Like what event ? This side (Cape Town) we haven’t had that many events cancelled recently ?
  6. hahaha, like that Average Rob video I sent you, he's just a super cool / likeable guy outside of the races, I can't understand why I still don't want to cheer for him in the races. It's not even like I want to like the underdog instead of the guy dominating the field because I liked Pogi even when he was crushing everyone else. I just hope these videos show the actual "haters" that he's not the arrogant prick you may think he his.
  7. Meh, I ride there a lot. Lot's of trucks/busses using the shoulder to let other cars pass. I do use it, but would not recommend to someone (especially not a "noob")
  8. get a WPMC (Killarney) membership, you get 2 hours free every monday evening on the track. Then you can also do the PPA sessions when they happen (not every week though), probably the safest option, but also durbanville side there's plently of long roads with few intersections that will work
  9. Koretzky had Sarrou, Marotte, Griot, Carrod in front of him, seems fair that he’s a bit pissed off to let three more guys start between him and the other french riders, out of nowhere from a rule crafted the day before. He made the time in his road calendar to do some xco races to get enough points for worlds to have a chance to fight for one of the two slots available for the olympics, in a strong french field. Sagan did nothing to deserve that slot (this season), VdP same thing. Imagine organising your year according to the rules at the time, and 24hr before the race they change and you move back one row as a consequence. It’s unfair. Period. Everyone sees it, not just the 5th+ row starters, Nino sees it, Pidcock sees it. Why is it so hard for you to accept it ? Does it justify the letter to the UCI, absolutely, did it affect the end result, maybe, maybe not, did it justify throwing a tantrum in front of the cameras, I don’t think so, but hey who am I to judge. i actually think even to Pidcock it’s unfair, now he has to justify himself, he would’ve wanted to get it without all the questions (although I think nobody will remember this in a months time)
  10. You're making it a koretsky affair, yes he acted like a dick, but it's not about him, a few dozen riders signed that letter against the UCI rule change, even Pidcock said he was against, I don't even understand why some here give their not so enlightened opinion about it
  11. yes, honestly I don't see how a double winner (XCO/XCC) wasn't supposed to start in the 5 first rows to begin with
  12. It doesn't matter, it's not a weekend hobby, it's their job, with big stakes including spots for the olympic games, it's just not fair to change the rules the day before the race to favour 3 super stars (including one that's completely washed out). But to give a couch-specialists opinion since you asked, I'm almost certain Gaze would have done the double if Pidcock didn't start in a favourable position
  13. yes, but also just like XCM, some races are faster, some races are more technical, that's the beauty of it. Same on the road, some are flat, some are hilly. You've got to do your homework and either race what's in front of you or stay home if you find the course won't suit you, and stop ranting on the internet every time a course doesn't match your standards (obviously when I say you I don't mean you @Spinnekop
  14. you know, I know, we know
  15. I've heard it's pretty bad, mountainbikes will definitely go alot faster down there than the gravel bikes. But for Gravel Monster there's no doubt that the gravel bikes will make that time up. For Old hermon though, I still thinking about it, but I'll most likely still ride the gravel bike Allthough seeing this earlier on this post... if you manage to wheelsuck your way to the top of bains with a MTB, you might breakaway on this descent to take the win 🤣
  16. haha I had no idea he had that reputation, just seing him on TV I wouldn't want to talk to him, something about his attitude. But anyways, incredible performance at these worlds
  17. Funny to see there are two topics related to gravel, one complaining there's too much road, the other that the course is too technical 🤣 Seems the gravelers are a happy crowd
  18. Mmh strong race by pidcock but seems Gaze was the strongest and he started way back ? Bit of a shame that we probably will only see the stripes on one or maybe two races next year. Pity about VdP’s crash
  19. *** Ordering myself one of those pinarellos
  20. Hate is a very strong word, everyone has their favourite and less liked riders, not a fan of Remco or Jonas and plenty other riders that I find way more likeable that I would love to see win rather than them, doesn’t mean I’m hating
  21. Well, I had Remco / Ganna / was expecting Kung 3rd but who could have seen this 3rd place coming !
  22. I was frothing for this TT, it’s a bit underwhelming in the end
  23. Bear in mind that you get nothing outside of south africa for R900 😅
  24. Are all these roads open to the public all the time ? Coz all the rest is pretty much any other race I've done, twice I puctured in races that I couldn't fix on the road and I had to make my way to my car on my own, nobody from the organization gave to s*** about me on the side of the road. Seems to be common practice so I don't expect anything from them on this part.
