  1. Once a Giant always a Giant.
  2. I train in the spinning class only and can ride with the A bunch. I think you have an advantage if you can get on the road and train with other cyclists. It will improve you bike skills and make you more comfortable in the bunch. But if you only have the spinning class then enjoy it. And try to do 2hours at a time. 45min is just warming up.
  3. http://www.darkndirty.co.za/ They do night rides on thursdays, it is a lot of fun.
  4. Wow. Very nice.
  5. You don?t have a lot of time left to train. I would suggest working on the base fitness. Long hours in the saddle both road and spinning class, try to do at least 2 hour base training continuance.
  6. I am no expert on training but I found that doing proper leg training in the gym helps a lot with my cycling performance. I introduced my wife to weight training and she had very good results. One thing I don?t do is weight training in the two weeks before a race, my legs hurt to the bone during the race.
  7. I will also be cutting down on races, I used to race every weekend if possible. I have now decided to do selective racing and do more club rides races. It is more than just the price of races that has increased to this absurd level. I have to drive to Jhb to get my number ?- cost of fuel. Time away from work to get a number ?- 2 work hours lost = less pay Bottom line: for the two of us it is close to R500.00 to do one race. I don?t have a fancy expensive bike, I don?t have Zips, I don?t have a fancy car, I don?t have DSTV, I don?t go to movies more than 5 times a year, I don?t go to fancy restaurants more than once a month. So R500.00 per race is a big deal. Gman18342010-01-26 02:41:39
  8. That is one super sexy bike. PORN indeed!!
  9. That is not a bad price. Really hope the job is done right. Had a wheel that was rebuild by LBS and kept on breaking spokes then I took it to Mr Yellow saddle (JB) and he sorted out the wheel, he had to rebuild the whole wheel with new spokes. Now my wheel is super not a problem since Argus 2009.
  10. I agree, that was a long walk, had to carry 2 bikes to the start, i was coverd in sweat when i got to some tar were we could ride. Hope it is better next year. I just wish the orginisers would tell that in advance so we can plan to walk forever. I thought we were doing the 94.7 cycle challenge, but it felt like the 702 walk the talk.
  11. No a Nylon Lock nut won't rattle loose.... never. exept if it was a old one that has been used a lot of times.
  12. Oops, at least it wasnt your fault. I forgot to sucure the bikes to the rack and my wife's bike fell off. Lucky at very low speed. Ask the guy at the hardware store for a Nylon lock nut. It wont rattle off ever.
  13. So from club X)#I to Cyclelab it must have been an expensive learning curve. Lets just hope she don?t go and ride with the Cyclelab pro's. no wait they ride with another club....Gman18342009-11-03 03:26:42
  14. I also think i know this club, wont mention there name. But the reward is great when you compleate the route alone and are able to meet up with them before there coffie is cold Is this the club that think 30km/h average mean you do 30km/h on the uphill drag?
  15. It is worth every cent!!
  16. When I met my wife (then GF) she did not cycle, after some time I got her a MB and then a road bike, we went on honeymoon taking the MB with. She likes to cycle not as competitive but for the fun. We ride together and chat about cycling. One day our family will become larger and then i have to buy small bikes. bottom line I still ride my Hard tail and Giant road bike no money for upgrades! Gman18342009-10-29 08:16:46

  22. doing good is relitive. some would consider doing the 94.7 in 2:30 ok. What works for me is 2 hours 3 times a week relitive pace some hilles ect and saturday a +-90km group ride. the other days exept sunday I do weight training.
  23. The Hub... More than just cycling.
  24. im no expert but if you want to improve get a good training book. joe friel has a very good book, Training bible for cyclists. He has a lot to say about over training and how to train but not to overtrain.
