  1. Let Shaun give his side to the story before we judge. Dealt with him last year Nov, and also had to follow up a few times etc but I got the glasses in the end. I think my timing of purchase was a bit crappy, but got them in a week's time I think. Sorry to hear about your experience, hope you get your glasses soon
  2. Just my 2c here. I had a tubeless conversion done with batseal. and maybe its because I dont know any better, but I think that stuff is awesome. During one of my typical (dangerous) moments of daydreaming while riding on the trails, I rode smack bang over a glass beer bottle, wasted some sealant, but worked like a bomb. wheels have lost of thorns etc , but no drop in tyre pressure. I'm happy
  3. would also like to know where and how.... ons sal uitkyk vir hom....
  4. there should be enough 2nd hand wheel sets going the rounds I think Was lucky, bought a rim brake wheelset off the Hub two years ago, for R350-00 and been using that since, no hassles

My dad always used to say, there are two types of people, (referring to cooking) those who can cook, and those people that know people that can cook....I'm one of the latter...
  9. Another potjiekos recipe that should give Latent Blue's one a good go: Get some good quality oxtail with minimal fat or decent short rib Marinade overnight in marinade of your choice Next day, start the potjie with browning an onion, put in tupper bowl, next do the same with mushrooms, when done put in same bowl Next up is the meat, throw all in, and brown/seal. When ready, pour in a bottle of red and leave to simmer. When the sauce is almost cooked away, put in a packet of brown onion soup made according to instructions on the packet, PLUS beefstock cube. Mix well, then add your baby potatoes with skin, as well as carrot balls. Jusyt work on the veggies from now on, when they are just about ready, its time for the last patty pans and baby marrows. Its best to rather take your time and make a slow decent potjie. This should take about 5 hours Serve with samp, garlic bread and good company
  10. Would also like to give it a bash sometime...
  11. Dankie, sal probeer
  12. thinking of going back to Squirt again,,,,on last bit of White Lightning Epic Ride....what a bunch of cr@p that lube is....
  13. think you chose one of the best possible races for your first 50km. As was said already, its nice and flat, think total climb should be around 300m? There is some technical bits to keep you honest, but that Big Red Barn singletrack is awesome. Take your camelbak with, a snack or two. Dont try and race it, just go out to have fun and for the ride. Keep a little left over in the tank and should you feel like it, go all out the last few km. Good luck!
  14. why struggle, just get new shoes I say, you know you want to!
  15. Update Just spoke to Clive, results will be emailed in next 24 hours. No website for results, available to those who interned online. Think he will posit here as well. Apparently new venue for nr 4 start finish etc..... Let the man give the answers and updates himself Just a note: think they have headaches with regards to land access, 41 different land owners, with some having only a 150m stretch on their piece.....
  16. What??? This is serious! A guard or two wouldn't do any harm, but didn't see any. If we don't get a commitment from the organizers to jack the security part up a bit, wold have to reconsider future entry, and that would be a pity,
  17. Luckily I only did the 35 (30.5)km. Found the route marking dodgy in places but just looked at tyre tracks and it all worked out. Did an extremely graceful OTB dismount in some sand doing aprrox 25km/h, luckily no one was around then . I think part of the challenge is that the race spans across various farms/smalholdings. Plus: great route with good variation. the number of waterpoints, the venue as well as look and feel of the event. Not low key at all, but certainly not as "commercialised" as other events. My kinda vibe. Minus: Route markings could improve....some races use chalk at some points, and it works. Lack of PA system at start, Will be at nr 4 for sure
  18. OK, I have the start times as follows: 70km 8am 35km 8:10 am from Bryton's event web page
  19. +1 For the 35km.... First race in a looooonngg time so looking forward to it
  20. Nice one! lots can be said about cyclists that, motorists this and all kinds of stuff being thrown around, but at the end of the day it comes down to this "You must be the change you want to see in the world".
  21. But within reason I'd say
  22. Just scanned the article and comments, seems like more than a freakin lot needs to be done before cyclists will be safe on the roads again. By this I dont mean the implementation of laws and stuff, as this will never work. Like Tedibear said "I believe the real solution is not the easiest or quickest solution, but one that will work, we create a culture of respect... where everybody respects other road users, be it cyclist, motorist, a woman pushing her pram, If we all respected each other and all obeyed the existing laws, future planned laws shouldn’t be required.
  23. decided to let it go this year. Paid for the whole license membership thing last year, ended up doing three races and for the rest just rode for the hell of it and for fun. Not worth it if you ride for the experience of riding. for serious racers its a different story
  24. A rate a minute only?? The manner in which this little critter is devouring his food would suggest something at least double that.
  25. My son's new dog, Joey the Pug. we went for a braai at new neighbours, they have one and my son fell in love. so we quickly decided he should get his own.
