  1. Have too agree with obree. The comparison in rolling resistance/weight/cost just dont add up for me and its largely due to the lower rotating speed. At that low RPM there isnt mush diff if any - other than price. Ceramic will last longer but at R 50.00 a bearing I dont mind replacing them. Like Powerbalace bands, if it works for you, go for it!
  2. Try Swartpiet or Sweaty Bastard - they both ride out that side. Karsten is also a good call.
  3. In there like a bear!
  4. I have various 160 6-bolt rotors. Im looking for a 180 centre lock rotor.
  5. +1 for Spinn class
  6. Same problem here - I take it is a software/system problem. I have mailed Judy - waiting for her reply. Tried to call but could not get through - so I take it is a general problem. let us know as soon as anyone has info. Thanx
  7. I guess biggest bandwidth wins. Size does matter! Its just working against me on this one!
  8. Anything new happen yet? I fell asleep.
  9. Waiting Sucks balls mate!
  10. Im not a roadie but I would guess somewhere between 8k - 13k My guess. Hope it helps
  11. the soon you learn to work on your own bike the better rider you become. Knowledge is king!!!!! DIY makes it fly!!!!! Nice one mate - happy trails
  12. You could also use simple washers from your Hardware store if needed. They are pretty cheap and come in all diff sizes. Take a look. Hope you come right. Cheers
  13. Its prob not the shim that you need - just the re-alignment of the pistons. Check that both piston protrude and equal amount out from the caliper in order to get your caliper centralized. If one sticks out further that the other it might also be a sticky piston. Move both piston all the way back in the caliper and then check the movement as you squeeze the lever. You`ll prob find one moves fast and the other almost nothing - that means it is sticky. Try taking the pads out and cleaning outside of the piston with a degreaser en lightly lubing it. Check if both pistons move equally now - if not, send it in for a seal kit replacement. Its prob Avid, right?
  14. Im a big Sram fan - except when it comes to their brakes. I got some M4 and paired them with matchmaker bracket to fit X.O shifters From what I`ve heard - XT has the same feel as XTR just a little heavier. Maybe go XT or Hope - you dont get much extra for dropping serious ching on XTR.
  15. Try some of the Fizik saddles - Aliante XM works for me. Go to Hotspot in Atterbury Value Mart and have a word with Jacques - maybe he has demo`s available. One size does not fit all - get what works for you! WTB Silverado was also a good choice for me. Good luck
  16. Im looking for a set of bibs L/4 Pref without team logo`s. Let me know what you have. Thanx V
  17. Was a big Il Pirata fan back in the day! Wasnt too happy when I heard that he died - and the very dissapointed when I heard how he died. RIP Marco Pantani aka Il Pirata! Keep climbing that big ol mountain in the sky!!!!
  18. Would be keen to check it out - should be some good riding on that ridge. I might be out at Phambili this weekend doing the XCO - otherwise i`ll go take a look.
  19. I would go for the Zula - but thats just because I ride one. best bike I ever had - but then again I have never ridden yeti or SC. Bang for buck I would have to back the Wood! Maybe chat to Average guy on the hub - he has had both - he will give you a honest opinion.
  20. Hey Hefty, How did it go? Also in Sub vet but popped a tyre at the start of the last lap and DNF Hope your run was better. I didnt even see the guy with the camera - would be keen to see the footage. Let me know
  21. Most Dr`s advise that you take it easy for the first 8 weeks - then you are past the crucial stage. After that you can go as long as you can go - had a friend that gave spinning up till 8 months and another that ran up till 7 months. The real riding question is balance. Ride until you start feeling uncomfortable. Minimize your risk of falling and you should be ok? Pay attention to your body - if your tired - rest. It takes a lot out of you to bake a bean! - Our first is comming in 3 weeks - will post pics Congrads and enjoy - now go tell the daddy!
  22. If you have time wait a little while. Got a feeling that a very well respected brand is working on a full sus 29 XC machine.
  23. My Personal choice: Gears - Sram Brakes - Shimano Sram shifting with 1:1 ratio is just far more crisp and much less hassle - check the youtube clip on Sram vs Shimano rear derailleur. Sram all the way - but then again, I have been riding sram for the last 5 years I have ridden both XT and Avid juicy ultimate brakes - XT wins hands down on performance, reliability and ease of servicing!!!
  24. Nice one Dangle - good idea. I will not be able to attend due to commitments. Put it on Facebook - so I can "like" it!
  25. Resting Hr is an indication of efficiency! You hart now pumps more blood/volume per stroke - thus less effort to get the same result. Resting HR is not the alpha & omega but is a good indication - keep in mind that genetics still play a huge roll. Use your RHR as an indication of over training or on coming illness. If you RHR jumps by more than 6 - 8 over 2 days, you might be getting sick or over training. Dont sweat the small stuff - its a guideline not a rule set in stone. Good to hear you are making improvements - that is the biggest factor - enjoy your training and everything else will follow!
