  1. What ever you can find!! Crossmark - the last tyre you will buy for the next 2 years - very durable and good overall tyre Geax - Suggaro - great front tyre - Barro Mountain - great rear tyre - I was a bit disappointed with the Mezcal - very washy on the loose Conti Mountain & Race king - very happy with it - Race king does not like the mud - but is fast on the hardpack. Schwalbe - always a good call. Cant really go wroung with any of those. Stop worring about what to ride and just ride - you`ll figure it out. Enjoy.
  2. Specialized is pricey but comfy.
  3. Pump it at a garage! Use some of the window washing liquid on the rim to help the tyre seat faster! You dont need much - just a quick wipe on the insides of the rim.
  4. Check out bicicletta.co.za - they are having a sale on Ritchey WCS wheels at around http://shop.bicicletta.co.za/pRCWHWCSFRALL/Ritchey-WCS-Alloy-MTB-Wheelset.aspx Great value for $$$$$ deal. You would have to go around R 7 000.00 to get something similar.

  11. Shimano XT was the best I ever had. Rated 1. Shimano XT 2. Formula R1 3. Avid Juicy ultimate - hated these XT`s felt better than the R1`s - not sure why - but I am sure most people will disagree with me on this but faced with a choice, XT please! Very keen to try Hope! X2 for Xmas!
  12. Crank lenth is usually one of 3 sizes 172.5mm - 175mm or 177.5mm but is not limited to these sizes. The theory goes like this: The longer the crank, the more power you can apply doe to the leverage. However, the longer the crank, the longer the time of muscle movement through the power stroke - thus the longer the muscle stays under contraction - thus more lactic acid produced. The longer the stroke - the slower the candence The shorter the crank - faster cadence - the faster the time under contraction - produces less lactic. Old school theory - if you are short - 172.5mm cranks, med lenght 5`9" - 6`1" 175mm crankts - Tall 6`2"+ - 177.2mm cranks. See what fits you best. I dont agree with - Power rides - long cranks - spinners short cranks but that is how it use to go. You are also more likley to scrape/bash your crank on the ground with longer cranks. I`m 6`1" have alwas ridden 175mm cranks.
  13. Its all about commitment! Let me start by saying I am a spinning instructor. I see plenty of people wasting their time is a class. If you work agains resistance it can be very benificial. Intervals-sprint-hill climbs all can be done here to great effect. I try and keep my HR at 85% - 90% through the whole class, if you are committed to your training it can be done but it is easier to loaf in a class as you dont have to keep up with the pack. That is why I say - it can be very good training but no-one else will police you, you have to do it yourself. Any training tool is good - the difference is in how you apply it. My 5c

  21. Shimano rear shifter works on a 1:2 ratio - this every 1mm moved on the shifter moves 2mm at the rear derailleur - thus softer shifting Sram moves 1:1 - thus 1mm at shifter movers 1mm at derailleur - chrisper shifting All front derailleurs are 1:1 Chains & cassets are inter changeable as long as they are the same speed, 9 or 10 speed. Hope this answers your question.
