  1. How about an option of having your hub name on the kit? Make it easy to identify each other?
  2. The only coffee allowed at the finish is a Captain Morgan coffee!!!
  3. Eat as soon as you can on the bike leg - this will be about 2km into it but make sue you do eat - you will need it on the run. A camelback might be a good idea with all the mud - bottle tops will clogg up. If you are going to go with bottles I would recommend Camelbak bottles with the jet-flow valves - very nice bottles. Have a gel just before you get off the bike and then again just before you come up the dam wall. Remember - it takes a bit of time for the gels to kick in. Take clean kit for afterwards!!! Have fun kids!
  4. Hopes he get good expose and starts showing up at World Cup events!!!
  5. He was looking fro a sponsor almost all year since he "left" DCM. Good for him. I take it he will be based there and not race locally this year? Too bad - the always made races interseting!
  6. If I may make one small recommendation - have the rear shock set up properly by someone who knows what they are doing. Had my Zula for 5 rides and was struggeling to get the set-up correct. Last week did a ride with a semi bike celeb and an bikeshop mechanic, afer 5km they forced me off the bike - fiddled for 15 seconds and kapow - "bob" gone. Seems that my rebound was just set to fast. Slowing it down sorted out the "bobbing" instantly. Now its really a pleasure - no need to lock out anymore. Get this setup right and you wont believe what that bike does!!!!! Enjoy mate!!!
  7. Im with Caerus - do ride with it alot but always tuned down. Must be able to hear cars/dogs ect. I normaly ride with only 1 headphone in at a time - that way you can still have a conversation or more importantly - hear when you are about to be jumped!
  8. Keep your HR under 75% as much as possible. Use this as a flower counting ride - not a training session This will help your base.
  9. Thanx Rouxtjie, I`ll take a look at it. You still happy with your Zula? You just got the jump on me for that one - but I got mine a bit later. Want to keep it looking good!
  10. Im looking for some crankskins/protectors for a Trvativ Noir carbon crank. I think Tarmac was busy a while back sorting out some sets made out of 3M type adhisive plastic. Could someone please give me an idea of where to find some or even a DIY option. Thanx
  11. You cant go wrong with any of the shimano`s Deore, SLX or XT great value and no issues. I personally dont like Avid - too many problems on the Juicy Carbons Best brakes in my opinion Hope / Formula / XT In your price bracket go for SLX or Deore
  12. Agent - didnt read the whole tread - did you use a HRM or did you just calculate? Reeason Im asking is this ex: Max 200 bpm 50% is not 100bpm because you resting HR might be 60BPM Thus: MHR - RHR = 140 BPM The formula is (MHR - RHR) = HRR Heart rate reserve Carvonin Formula THR =(MHR - RHR) X % + RHR Lets try the ex again: MHR 200BPM RHR 60BPM HRR 140BPM 80% = (200 - 60) X 80% + RHR = 140 X 80% + 60 = 112 + 60 = 172 BPM 200 BPM X 80% = 160 BPM See the diff?
  13. I have the RP2 on my Zula and I only close it on drags - to eliminate bobing. Still working on a better pedalstroke. Steep or technical climbs I leave it open for traction.
  14. If you want a damm goos set of wheels contact Shamus his comp is called bicicletta - they have the Ritchey WCS alloy for under 3k - well worth it He also rides a Morewood so you can get all the needed info from him. Happy trails mate!
  15. Weight Weenie - try Xlab side kick(?) from bicicletta - got it on my Morewood Zula and works great. Another great cage for MTB is Xlab Gorilla - never lost a bottle with that cage on my hardtail. Try http://shop.bicicletta.co.za or contact Shamus on the hub
  16. Make sure the front wheel is propely tightened - check for play. Take it back to the shop you got it from - that aint right son!
  17. 0800-who`s-your-daddy or his mobile 0800-I-lay-pipe He can be reached fax to mail on 0860-all-of-12"
  18. MTB slick works just fine but you will find that some of the rubber heats up so much that it creates a rubber spatter on the floor. Its not serious but the wife might not like it that much. The other option in a IDT specific tyre from Conti or Trax(?) Conti is orange colour and avalible in Road or MTB around R 350 The IDT specific tyre is smoother and quieter and well worth it. I have also seen a blue coloured one - I think that is from Trax.
  19. Tend to Mrs. The Buthers' needs a day before so that she can tend to my needs the moring of! I dont care if it works for a PB or not - but it does put a big smile on my face. Call me "twinkle toes" - cause I`m lighter on my feet!
  20. Dont forget Cascades Giba blue - 4/10 Giba orange - 7/10 Giba Green - 10/10
  21. Have a word with Grant from Adrenaline Cycles 033 3307788 - He will be able to point you in the right direction. When are you coming back? I just bought a bike form him and need to get it back to Pta sometime.
  22. What happens when you have a workforce of 20 and then 4 call in sick? Blood cells transport Oxygen - you now have less blood cells to do the work. Wait 2 days and you will be back to normal.
  23. If you have a TT bike - then go TT If you dint have a TT bike but have a nice trust fund - get a TT On half ironman you can always just trow on some TT bars to your road bike. Unless you want to win it, the aero does not make that much of a diff - lets say for argument sake 7min - 10min A TT bike is very limited in its use - with a road bike you can always add TT bars. Remember - its about a 3 hour ride only. For IM - go TT - the comfort is very important over 6 - 7 hours TT bars - R 800.00 - TT bike R 30 000.00 If cash aint the issue go TT For 1/2 IM I dont see the capital input justifying the time benifit but then again, I dont have a trust fund.
  24. That is a Crank Brother`s Cobalt Wheelset - Very Pritty Talk to Shamus - I saw he has a few sets of these in stock.
  25. I would recommend copper paste. You can find small tubes at any hardware store. Copper paste the stuff of kings. Apply it to anything that might seize up - seat rails, seat post, any threads, chainring bolts - it prevents squiking(?) and will allow easy diassembling later. Especially great on bearing cups.
