  1. Nothing worse than a floppy tire in the middle of a corner or when some walker comes strolling round a blind bend on the inside lane and you have to jump on the brakes and the front tire just flops over, shattered nerves and the aunty still wants to smack you a shot..
  2. How do the muddy Mary's wear? Who stocks them and the cost?
  3. How do you need to frame it to the police to makes it a criminal matter? Isn't fraud criminal? The cops see an agreement to supply something and then see their little escape route to not having to help you. This guy is obviously milking this loophole, parking a double decker bus in there. So how many times can one guy do that until it's criminal? Obviously the modes operandi is to take relatively smaller amounts from people knowing the motivation for recovery is very small, people will rather write off the loss than chase someone who will lie/cheat, duck and dive and still never pay anyway, make you angry, confused and tired, and that all after having to slave away a full days labour at a job. This guy is a real piece of work.
  4. Probably rustoleum brand from Builders but nothing in a spray can is very resilient though, you really need some 2K clear
  5. Not the first time: www.thehubsa.co.za/forum/topic/63997-neil-schnetler-conman-update/
  6. Hope you apprehend the guy nothing worse than a conman.
  7. Those informal settlements near/around suburbs/built up areas are criminals havens, no way to police them, criminals can move in and out at will, hide, hide stolen goods. Recipe for disaster if one springs up near you or in areas you utilize for recreation. The problems will just get worse until the settlement is moved or razed, neither being an easy or possible option considering the times we live in.
  8. Can't hurt, bleeding the rear brakes properly is normally harder than the fronts, the brake hose is longer and the hose routing often means the caliper sits above the hose unless you take it off the frame or can mount the bike pivoted in a work stand, so it's harder to make sure all the air is taken out relative to the front brake.
  9. Oh crap that sucks, heal up soon.
  10. I wouldn't mind doing it but it's just one more expensive thing to worry out getting stolen/hijacked. Some bike trails have some very good photographic opportunities, suppose if it's a trail that's never had any security issues/quite rural then it's good to go.
  11. Majority of people have noticeably more developed muscles on their dominant sides leg/arm muscles etc, that alone wouldn't cause what you are experiencing unless it's to a very extreme level. It would cause imbalance, perhaps sore compensating muscles rather than weakness?
  12. I think the big cost comes from the genuine Oakley RX lenses and that some optometrists take you to the cleaners with their markups. If you got some Flakjacket frames you could probably have generic RX lenses made up with whatever tint etc you wanted put in, just they wouldn't have all that Oakley gobbledygook in it that some people have been complaining bubbles and micro cracks very easily anyway, but they would look and operate largely the same.
  13. They are not too bad, have the ding knocked out(I had a similar sized one and it came out looking/working fine) and the wheels trued/hubs serviced and sell them.Decent entry level set, someone will want them.
  14. That's a clever solution! So you get an engineering shop to make the shaft and get the DU bushings from BMG? Depending on the frame you'll probably also need some spacers to put on either side of the shaft
  15. I've done something similar before, it normally works out quite favorably if you do the sums before buying the bike. I suppose if they are brand new unridden parts off the new bike then budget for getting around half the current new retail price if you want to sell the stuff reasonably quickly. But you never know, maybe someone needs exactly what you selling and you can get more, or no one wants it and you have to drop the price and they still don't sell for weeks. Is a big advantage that they are new though.
  16. Won't that be prone to corroding a little easily on a mtb, specially used on an unlubricated bushing? But it's obviously working on your bike though
  17. What's bright mild steel?
  18. Wow, poor guy must have been freezing cold and seriously hungry, lucky last night was nearly a full moon so a bit more light than usual.
  19. What time was he found? Night time alone and lost in the forest is not fun
  20. Yoh, scariest thought being "lost in the woods", hope he gets found safe and sound. Was he riding in his own?
  21. What exactly does that surgery entail? Sounds expensive.
  22. Lucky no duties! A warranty replacement was sent to me at no charge from the brands company headquarters in Denmark, delivered by UPS and arrived with a bill of R600 for import duties, I refused to pay the duties and the brand ended up covering them. Happened again when an item I sent to Eu was turned back at the EU customs, when it re-entered Sa our customs charged me R500 import duties to receive my own personal belongings back, DHL made the stuff up that meant it couldn't be delivered in Eu so I obliged them to cover all the duties, which they did. Both times customs did not want to hear anything, you either pay the duties or the item won't be released, discussion over.
  23. Get the XO crank manual here: https://www.sram.com/truvativ/products/truvativ-x0-10-speed-crankset Make sure all the spacers and washers/seals are in the correct place/order relative your your BB shell width.
  24. Looking good, those old XT brakes are excellent, had some on my first decent mtb. So how does it ride/hop? Weird how some frames/bike builds feel so much more responsive and in time with your rhythm than others.
  25. Haven't seen it specifically on CRC but it happens plenty on other sites.
