  1. I'd try vinegar first, pour in neat, perhaps add a little water if the place to get descaled has quite a large volume. Just buy 3 or 4 bottles of cheapie vinegar, around R5 a bottle.
  2. I've seen vinegar remove hectic scale, couldn't believe how well it worked. You do have to repeat the process a few times and let it stand for 20mins each time.
  3. Why do these scammers try pay with payfast these days, what's the scam there, why is that better for them than a fake cheque deposit in your acc, which is why they normally try?
  4. Is that the small cogs on the cass? Probably the chain and/or cass is worn out, get the wallet out. I find my 11t cog wears out faster than the rest but you can buy replacements for that so I just drop that out.
  5. I remember we told Franz/Backtracker guy sorry bud your planned pricing(around R2500) will be too expensive. Garmin get hold of it with their enormous scale of economies/distribution in place etc, what'd you know they charge a whole lot more for it than Backtracker
  6. Those are nice, what model is it? More minimalist lightweight shoe, has the lunaron sole?
  7. Suppose it all depend on how you tackle the obstacles, does look a bit weird Lycra with kneepads?
  8. Very cool how much are they?
  9. Wont it be a tad frigid in Sani Pass right of now? Going to be riding in the dark as well better hope there isn't a stiff breeze on top of it.
  10. Apparently perfectly acceptable, no problem whatsoever just not the other way, ie 10sp chain on 11sp cass
  11. "The fact that there are no plug points, means that phones and modern life distractions quickly get left behind and are replaced with the simplicity of riding, eating and laughing around the dinner table." AWESOME
  12. Maybe adjust your technique a little(some people try lift too much bead over at once and don't position the bead that's allready over into the middle of the rim, also use soap and leave the tyre in the sun for an hr or 2 before attempting to mount)and get a Pedros DH tyre lever, polished chrome metal tyre lever with a solid handle , the baus of tyre levers. You can order them online for R200. I don't see the point of UST, tube less ready with strong side walls is the winner. UST doesn't mean you'll never get a puncture so you'd be foolish not to run them with sealant anyway, unless you want to be fiddling at the side of the trails checking for the hole and pumping the tyre up continuously as the air leaks whilst you do so and then needing to plug it. Never mind that the plug you put in may become a slow puncture of its own after the fact.
  13. I'm enjoying my HD's, a solid all rounder and I've found the rolling resistance very acceptable. Rear pacestar is getting a little chewed up, surprisingly the front trail star still looking good, overall I'd say they are wearing well.
  14. That's a sound price, shipping is another R100 per order?
  15. How much are the MM SG at easy bike? They seem to get their schwable tyres somewhere that allows them sell them at pretty decent prices relative to the typical us or eu street price
  16. Looks sick, never heard of that brand, where's it from?
  17. The need to lightly weight the post to take the main spring's pressure off the lock pin so it can retract and let the post rise is a bit disappointing, they should have engineered it so that was overcome. On the fox dss they use ball bearings to lock the post, and that release probably works rather like the the lock ball on a socket ratchet, which would mean the lock balls can retract even under spring pressure.
  18. 36/22 is a reasonably common OEM Sram crank setup used on Trail orientated bikes, I've seen it a few time, is a little bit overboard on the 22t.
  19. You'll need the 11sp shifter, RD, Cass and chain, 10sp RD not compatible with 11sp shifter.
  20. That crank looks like Deore circa 2008 or thereabouts, not a looker like the current XT 10sp crank. Prices are awesome though, for once Shimano properly trumps Sram (well almost if they had a 10t small cog on the cass but still all good)
  21. If you reuse your current 1x converted crank/chainring (apparently the 11sp chain will work on any 10sp compatible chainring), for around R5k you can be doing 1x11 properly, new 1x11 RD, Cass, Shifter and Chain, all for about the price of just the XX1 cass.
  22. Been running 2015 Schwalbe Hans Dampf Evo Snakeskin 2.35'' TL-Easy PaceStar rear/Trailstar Front for over a month now. Confidence inspiring grip, virtually no sidewall squirm, fast rolling(as fast as I've ever expected a tyre to roll), very easy to mount tubeless with zero sidewall leaks. Holds air like a bauws! Trailstar compound is very soft, front tyre is already showing signs of the tread tearing/shredding to come and its not seen much mileage or hard riding, can cut the tread with my thumbnail. Trailstar is only for those that have to have maximum grip or alternatively just have money to burn, not for those wanting decent longevity, in that case get Pacestar front and back. A word of caution, no amount of amazing grip(except I suppose a tyre made with monster tread for the loose stuff) can keep a bike upright on loose gravel, don't go testing a tyres limits on loose sand/gravel, you will see your ass just like any other tyre
  23. Anyone have these vivobarefoot shoes that can confirm how they must fit, how they do fit?
