  1. The ASP batons are about the best, there are some others that are of a similar quality, be ready to pony up over R1k though, the budget ones aren't worth the money you pay, they are just plain useless. Nice weapon to have and quite a deterrent when you present them but I'm not sure how useful they would be in a bike jacking situation, perhaps a nice reserve to have in case they try to hurt you on top of robbing you. Often these kind of criminals are a bit crazy, they'll take a cracking on the head/shoulder/sternum and still keep coming with their knives or worse pull a gun, I vote throw your valuables their way and run the opposite direction, leave your ego out of it. I had a guy chase me a few days ago, 2 guys were walking up the road, it was getting dark hard to make them out and as I approached they spread out over the road, my spider senses started going haywire. First thought was wtf do these idiots think they are, it's a double roadway get out the way, ja try me. Luckily I sobered up and realised I was a sitting duck so I stopped about 20m from them and the one guy started clearly heading in my direction, in those split seconds I had to make a decision, my spine went cold and I put my tail between my legs and bolted down a side street, I could hear the guys footsteps running behind me, eerie. When I was riding away there was a funny grinding noise coming from the back of my bike, after a 100m or 2 I stopped to check what it was, there was a piece of wood stuck between my tire and frame, it definitely was not there before I rode off from the situation, I'm cirmising the guy tried to push a stick into my spokes. Anyway the point is don't let your ego get in the way of choosing safety over proving a point, it takes years of training to be able to correctly access a situation and then fight the threat off in an appropriate manner. If you don't have the training don't try your luck, these guys are ruthless, to many criminals your life is worth nothing, one or 2 stabs in the wrong place and it's over, what bike or phone is worth that?
  2. That is going to be one bad ass Pyga, S-works guys will be looking over at your bike enviously. [emoji54]
  3. What is the blacklite command post like? That's what it looks like on there, or a Giant dropper?
  4. That's rating abuse, report the negative rating you receive with an explanation, admin will no doubt remove it.
  5. Best looking Gshock I've seen, nice colour, how much did that set you back? Why doesn't Casio(apart from the Gshocks) make more brightly coloured digital watches? I like plain digital watches in crazy colours. The only digital watches I've found in nice bold colours are the surfing watches like Freestyle and Nixon, Nixon's are nice but the quality doesn't match the price.
  6. Not bad prices, your maths is a little out, R4150 to do it if you don't need chain ring. Though at those prices I'd use a brand new chainring unless your existing one was pristine
  7. Does that go nicely with your Campagnolo groupset? [emoji10]
  8. ^Are they on the market yet?
  9. That's got the look and its Casio so won't be total crap, thanks! I just followed the amazon link, its around R500, awesome. I'll have a look if they have them on eBay, free shipping and all.
  10. What's a nice cheapie watch under R1k with an analog face, rotating bezel and can use nato straps? And isn't fecking huge, I have rather skinny wrists.
  11. I've heard/seen pics of Campy now being made in Taiwan/china, perhaps just the low end stuff, the old man at Campy swore it would never happen and now?
  12. Come on! No for me on both accounts. If they are minimizing weight then is this "technology" moving to other spez bikes, S-works perhaps? Go look at how spez typically connects the shock to the frame (and spez go all out to maximize return on weight and engineering), it never looks like this. This is one of the few frames I have seen that has "optimized" the stand over point near the middle of the tt, if I baulk at the top of a drop-off there's no ways in hell I'm heading towards the middle of the tt, if I did that it would be straight OTB, I'd be leaning back as far as possible with my ass/crotch as close to the seatpost as possible, no the majority of bikes incl those for ladies optimize the tt so the lowest stand over point is close to the seatpost. Anyway if you have any forward momentum the mintue you put your feet down your crotch will be smacking into the tt just below the seat not in the middle, likewise you'll be in a similar area when trying to climb on the bike which is another time when "accidents" that benefit from low stand over heights can happen. Anyway the difference in stand over height is not much between the lowest point near the middle of the tt and where it meets the seatpost, it just looks a little weird/inelegant.
  13. Can't argue with that but it has been implemented in a way that looks a little peculiar, the other women specific FS I have seen incl Spez's other FS frame don't have the lowest stand over point in the middle of the tt, perhaps it's just a degree of lazy engineering or cutting costs.
  14. Yes I can see this "a straight line running up from the rear axle, through the seat stays, link, through the shock to the shock mount point." I'm pretty sure anyone with decent eyesight can see that. This on the other hand "It all works out that way playing nicely with ratios, lengths and tech bits." You could say that about virtually any decent frame ever made no matter the geometry used. "dropping it down that low allows" What? Is this new dropping of the stand over height to accommodate "a straight line running up from the rear axle, through the seat stays, link, through the shock to the shock mount point" going to be rolling out on more Spez frames, like the Enduro perhaps, seems like they are struggling to keep a straight line running up from the rear axle? http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9259266/p4pb9259266.jpg
  15. That part is just gibberish. On this bike, at the tip of the saddle if I draw a line 90 degree with the ground, I get to just about where the seatpost meets the top tube and that is not where the lowest point on the top tube is, its quite a bit more forward, granted its not much but still it looks a little peculiar. But I'll agree that I erred when calling the top tube the cross bar, my apologies, I plan to not let you down in that regard again. Truth be told they are interchangeable but I also prefer top tube over cross bar, its just a more modern and succinct interpretation.
  16. But not to that degree? And they have made the point of the lowest standover height in the middle of the crossbar and then made it taper up towards the seatpost, that makes no sense wouldn't you want the crossbar height tapering down to the lowest point virtually at the seatpost if its to address stand over height? That's really what caught my eye. Unless maybe the designer had some far out whacky idea and saw dresses being ridden with the bike and made the lowest height in the middle to suit that? Who knows, I'm just speculating, don't shoot the messenger
  17. What's the point of the noticeably lower looking standover height than normal other than wearing a dress or why would they possibly need to do that? Nothing wrong with dresses, many men wear them in some cultures. Isn't it a bit of an unnecessary cliche to make a ladies frame like that? I'd think its the blokes if any thing, from an ergonomic perspective that is, that could at times truely appreciate a very low standover height?
  18. Looks like Spez designed the cross bar so ladies could ride with a dress. Nothing like hitting the trails in a nice summer frock! Go Spez!!
  19. Just be careful with the estate agent, architect etc, a fair bit of money will go their way if the sale goes through, they "want" you to buy. You have not had time to establish a solid relationship with them, at this stage they will only see you as dollar signs, that's normal but keep that in mind when considering their motivations. Do not believe a word of the reports of the present owner not accepting your first offer, wanting more etc and then finally accepting your offer just one week later, now there's other people interested etc, that's all part of the negotiating charade. Any seller with his head screwed on will do that, "refuse" your first offer to test the waters only to accept when they realise you are not budging and finally make out its hot property once they have accepted to force your hand. I have dealt with many transactions of this nature and unless the price is a no brainer no can lose thing, then step extremely gingerly, that property is not hot stuff, it is not an estate agents dream! I've seen it happen time and time again, buy something like this then wish with all you heart you'd never even considered moving over there never mind buying the property. And what always happens is 2 weeks later the ideal thing that needs minimal work, at the right price, perfect position etc comes on the market but now you are saddled with a monster. I'd rather spend 6 months waiting for the right property than diving head first into a pool that you don't accurately know the depth of. Surely there are many things to consider other than just the building, zoning rights, hertitage laws, building codes etc. Again I don't know the full picture(maybe you bought Capitec shares right at the beginning and money is just not that much of an issue [emoji10]) so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
  20. Are they the snakeskin or protection versions? Probably not at that price, wouldn't touch them if they aren't, just wouldn't be money well spent.
  21. I hate to say it but you must be a sucker for punishment. A question to seriously ask yourselves: Is your main motivation to move there to fix up old decrepit buildings or enjoy the surroundings and open a BnB? You will be paying euro labour rates and building material costs, that building will be a real challenge to get into fine order and you may need bottomless financial resources, not including the possible disasterous hiccups you may encounter in the structure or foundations. Never mind you've just moved there and can not speak the language fluently, how much stress do you really want in your life? If you want to go there to enjoy the surroundings, open a BnB and keep your marriage intact I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole. Find something that just needs a few walls put in/bathroom to make the BnB unit self contained etc, perhaps superficial renovating, not a building that alone could perhaps be a lifes work just to fix it up. Granted I don't know your financial resources or tolerance for pain so take what I say with a pinch of salt. [emoji5]
  22. That's what I don't understand, although I suppose the sentence is all about intent and how the judge assessed that in court. This guy did leave flee the scene so why didn't that make the sentence a bit harsher?
  23. The form factor is amazing, it's tiny. Hate to lose one...
  24. R8k!? Gopro is certainly onto a good thing, you can get Canon or Nikons very decent entry level Dslr with a lense for less than that and the engineering and materials used is significantly more than any GoPro. GoPro has quite a bit of competition these days, apart from the convenience of a huge range of avail/compatible mounts etc does the GoPro have that much over its competitors?
  25. One advantage is conserving all your energy for going down the hills, fast, this could just allow more downhill time if you were that way inclined. At many spots getting to the top of the run/trails is so exhausting you can only do it once. But as with any thing, now there is another expensive bit to break and maintain, nah.
