  1. Pffft, testing of schoolboy rugby players should be mandatory in the whole country. KES is not alone in all this...

  3. No a Rhinkals is quite a fat strong looking mother, thick long body. Its eye is quite destinctive in that it looks like its scowling. white bands on the underside are normal. It comes across as a 'proper snake', not something to be messed with. There is another colour variation which is black and khaki beigh stripes.

  6. Lots of things contribute to a poor race day. If you enter overtrained, your body rebels. If you rode sat morning, a tad too hard, you may have affected your ride. Not sleeping enough 5 days before, not eating correctly 3 days before, not eating during the ride, all would have worked against you. Then there is the wind, and sun and other things you have no control over. Race tactics too, sit in the front third of the bunch where its easier to notice pace changes and not get dropped on climbs, not the back where its easy to be caught up by blown riders or miss the jump. Sounds like your nutrition was lacking, 94.7 is still a tough ride, and yesterday was hot and windy. PS: its very tough to hold onto a passing bunch, after being shelled. you burn many matches riding alone, and then to try and lift your game mentally and physically to pick up your speed, rhythm, and cadence to match a passing bunch takes some doing. sometimes helps not to timetrial it alone, but wait a few mins, recuperate, eat drink, and then latch on if you can...

Thanks Cyclelab for the Hospitality, was a great way to relax after a hot hard windy race.
  8. what a shame. I have been supporting the Lionman for years, always had a lot of fun there. Hopefully it will be back again.

    94.7 Expo

yes, these stickers are just stupid. mine wont last the 30min warm up ride from home, never mind 2.75 hours on the bike.. crappy expo: no Barone girls, no Cannondale, no Shimano, no bike stands, loooong ques for numbers, and goodie bags for dwarves this year only.

    KIA SA Rankings

Bit annoying this. Although the initiative is fine, I assume SASeeding and now SARanking are asking race organisers for a fee for them 'To get onboard'. Of the 15 MTB races I did this year, only 8 are listed as races used (this excludes Karkloof, Honda mtn trophy, Berg n Bush, and other larger events). It also seems that some events listed last year, have fallen off this years list (did they not pay the Get onboard fee?) How can this be accurate? When finishing events in the top 150, somehow you need a SASeeding index below 30 to make it into the top 1000 riders on SARanking. clearly this does not make sense, even when finishing a MTN Nissan National XCM or Nissan Trailseeker marathon in the top 150, regularily. SASeeding also have between 2 or 3 entries per person, with old info or missing races, and incorrect indexs. Will this ever be updated and corrected. A thankless task for SASeeding's staff compliment of 1. ho hum... road seeding index works a little better imo.

  12. Kingpin? He's a Texan, if I am not mistaken...
  13. I hope his form is the same as this years tour. lots can happen in 365 days. he was also too tired to produce the goods at the Vuelta.
  14. http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/ wheel upgrades arnt cheap. Planet X has some good stuff and fair prices. I have had good service from them in the past.
  15. lol, Celtic is soccer. you must have been drunk.
  16. well you cant exactly go pointing fingers and ringing bells without hard evidence. Finally a test has returned positive, so the cats out the bag. more vigorous testing will reveal more cheaters, perhaps our CSA license donations are good for something...
  17. Physically more demanding? you are kidding right? perhaps you should get on a MTB and race a bit, its just different, not more or less physically demanding...
  18. Not just youngsters. I am really disappointed after cheering them on in their Epic rides, and various other races (Sani2c wrong direction). Damn thats annoying, another new mess.
  19. had the same problem. seems they are forcing us to buy the expensive, pre-slimed presta tubes.
  20. damn that's sad.
