  1. Luckily it’s 7 days and not a 365 challenge
  2. 😗 did someone mention millions 😗
  3. I reckon anyone with blue skies like that and temperatures above the 20 deg C should have to do double the distance / 1000km. jealousy makes me honest 🤙
  4. I’ll raise you Wham Last Christmas sorri I can’t bring myself to post the video
  5. My pleasure I tried to donate enough to round it off to 20K, but fell a bit short with exchange rate conversion
  6. It’s possible in Rouvy, as I recall there is an option where you can choose to ride with companions (not other real life people) but a computer generated image of other riders who circulate around you just like in a bunch, and you can choose to benefit from drafting. I think there is also the option to time trial against a cgi “bot”
  7. “We saw a whopping R237 million in sales proactively confirmed by users. Thats nearly R20 million a month” Sooooo 😇 How much does le bike hub make out of this?
  8. The funny thing is even though I could put out major power / speed if I wanted to, there were often other riders who were going much faster and impossible to keep up with. “Online doping” is real
  9. Upgraded my Cyclops Pro Power Beam with a Wahoo Kicker Core Had many years service from the power beam but eventually it was no longer possible to calibrate, which resulted in some "unbelievable" power figures Only done one ride so far and the Kicker Core looks like a great replacement, much quieter than the "wheel on" power beam.
  10. “not my problem” This is the problem 😁 a lot of people will just move on or think that someone else will stop and make it their problem. On the other hand …. Some people are to “proud or embarrassed” and won’t accept help pretending that everything’s ok
  11. I don’t think anyone detests groups Providing help where it’s needed is a good thing, more people should do this. If it messes up your ride then so be it, it’s only a ride and in the big scheme of things won’t effect your Argust or 94.7 finishing time 🤟
  12. Very good question I've had the OTB event once riding a technical downhill trail in a forest on my own after work i.e. early evening, my first thought while lying on the ground spluttering, was that no one knows where I am…. iPhone was in my backpack which would probably been my saving grace, luckily I recovered enough to make it home under my own steam. Despite this I’m still happy to ride mtb or road on my own
  13. Great idea, talk about pressure for Jewbacca 😅 As I understand this initiative is to raise the entry costs for Jewbacca, how will the funds for the SPCA be generated?
  14. Also do most of my rides alone, there are no safety concerns on the roads around here. Motorists are generally well behaved and bike jacking / violence is unheard of. Occasionally I do enjoy riding with others but avoid large groups and wheel sucking, seen to many accidents in bunches which also tend to aggravate other road users. Having limited time to ride means I want to ride when and where I want to without having to worry about someone else’s time constraints and route wishes, maybe a bit selfish…. But that’s how it is…. Safety on the mtb is an issue, falling off on a trail in the middle of a forest on your own is a risk I have to take with my (somewhat selfish) riding preference.
  15. It’s not a fashion accessory like those popular long sock's where cyclists keep their comb to adjust their hair before quaffing a cappuccino at the 1/2 way coffee stop. Your head won’t care when it hits the ground, you can have a helmet for every day of the month as long as you wear it. If you’re worried about efficiency, red Specialized helmets are more aerodynamic.
  16. Just been going through this thread and (I’ve probably said it before either in this thread or one of the other similar ones) it just highlights how aggressive South Africans are and makes me realize how much I don’t miss SA and this kind of unnecessary aggression. Yes, having been in the very same situations whilst living in SA and reacted exactly the same myself, I know I’m the pot calling the kettle black.
  17. Did this a few years ago, it was not “fun” in the middle of winter…. Riding mostly alone in the rain, cold and sometimes snow. Found that doing longer rides first and gradually reducing the distance was a good strategy mentally, it’s nice going to bed knowing you have less to do the next day and the next….. Have not ridden my bike properly for about 6 months…. Definitely skipping it this year, we close for work between Xmas and new year so I might try go for a ride each day instead, not worrying about the 500 total.
  18. Without wishing harm on anyone, I’d love to see another grand tour podium contender (as in the current crop of youngsters) go through what injuries Froomie has and make the same comeback. He does not need to, but I admire him for still trying. Sure a GT win at his age and stage is not likely, if I’m not mistaken this was admitted during his last TDF where they said the main goal was to go for stage wins. Just like opinions…. Everyone reads into things the way they want to
  19. Simply put there are to many choices (races) in SA, if there were only half or less then maybe folks would look back and think twice about whinging
  20. There can only be one winner 22 teams = 176 riders You must be an over achiever to scoff at 71st
