  1. How can plans, 70% put together over some months, fall 100% flat in 5 days? Perhaps the CSA dude knew about the tour cancellation when he put on a brave face for Supercycling last Tuesday, telling everyone all is A o.k.
  2. Your comment: 'A lot about nothing' is spot on... He's avoided safety issue very nicely Where has CSA created cyclist safety awareness? Did I miss the big billboard on M1,N3,N1? Full page ads in a newspaper? They've said very little in the news about cyclists being killed on our roads, hijackings, etc. And now they're open to suggestions from other groups to ensure the safety of cyclists. A toothless, money eating monster,CSA

    SunScreen!

+1 except my face. Doesn't work as well as on the arms and legs. Dermatologists recommend Vichy products. ($$$ but worth it if you don't want to be 35 looking like 55)
  4. Considering that Fastway couriers charge R35 door to door overnight (all over SA) it doesn't sound much like a bargain.
  5. +1 Sticking a 'DO IT NOW' sticker over the(we think a Momsen)brand=poor style.
  6. Everybody who used the train years ago, said it was so much fun: all the cyclists together, nic vibe, lekker food. Now you have to sleep with one eye open. Perhaps ask around today, plenty Joburg cyclists there if your bike can catch a lift with someone?
  7. Not really. Neutral zones are to get riders past dangerous areas, in town, traffic intersections, bottle necks, etc until it's safe to race. The lead vehicle drivers need to catch a wakey. He sets the pace, it not his race to see if he can beat the bikes to the end of the zone. Somehow the neutral zone idea goes out the window with batches B-Z
  8. Dude, you have issues. Go for counselling. Nice try to keep the thread going.(NOT)
  9. My first 12hr solo event and I loved it! Just about every rider who came past had some words of encouragement. Nearly fell off the bike laughing when the leopard roared past me. You guys are good sports. That hill got the better of me after a few laps and ended up walking the last piece each round. Great event.
  10. I get what you're saying. We are overcharged on utilities, property rates are high, etc. Local councils can surely offer public parks and pools for free. They make enough money from us on everything else.
  11. 101km entry for sale. Husband's off the bike for a few weeks due to injury. Will charge R50 less than what we paid so you can get substitution done on Sat.
  12. Acc to results I came 3rd in my solo cat. But another girl was called up to take the honors. Their prov results were done on 2hrs to go and then nothing. No wonder some riders didn't want to say how many laps they've completed at prize giving. Afraid they might be called out on it. :(
  13. She used to present Top billing ages ago. Think she married some successful businessman and didn't they emigrate to the US? (not in the mood to google who's who.)
  14. It was a nice day out. Started off a bit cold but the weather turned out great.wind helped to get rid of the dust. I managed 7 laps solo, after a mechanical on lap 3 (broken chain).thanks to the guy who stopped and helped me put the powerlink in. Didn't bother to go out again with 45 mins to go. I was tired. Managed to beat my husband though, with 7 laps. He planted himself in a tree section on lap 1 and ended up with a fractured scapula he put on a brave face though and insisted that I finish my race. He is very grateful to the guy with the hand brace who helped him get back to the finish (was that you, knobby mech?)
  15. How many riders normally ride this event? I want to find out how early we must be there, and track-wise: I see it's 7km loops, but enough space for riders to overtake (me)?
  16. Best of luck Dave. So when there's money to be spend next round, you can be sure it'll be on the bike. Hope you get cycling soon.
  17. Yip, the website said you'll only hear from them when you've cracked the nod. That's if there opens up a spot after the weekend payment. Seems like nothing has changed. They should've kept their 'new entry procedure' sermon. Don't we look like fools thinking we had a chance to get in.
  18. mmmm, any burger during a cycle race: you probably enjoy the same burger 3 times over before the finish line...
  19. I also saw the Sani2c price and thought it's a bit high. But I want to ride the damn event once and get off my to-do list because if I have to hear from my husband one more time how pretty the valley area is after his Joberg2c races, I'm gonna scream.
  20. +1 Maybe their server crashed and when they restarted it, it took some of the entrants who registered later? But yeah, it's cr@p to sit with a 'maybe' letter, if some okes receive an accepted one now. If you preach 'first come, first served', stick to it.
  21. HOT DAMN: We're on the list. It's been 4 years on a waiting list and I hope 2012 is our lucky year.
  22. Wow manne, hou terug met julle beledigings asb. Die dude is naar oor fietsry 'n sosiale sport is maar niemand is vriendelik nie. As die oosrand oggend groep in hulle racing mode kan groet, kan julle ook maar.
  23. Cool shirt. Like the black for MTB rides. Is the name/no. optional? How much did you pay for it? Delivery time? (sorry, so many questions, but I'm tired of wearing kit of a club I don't belong to anymore.)
  24. Bad taste of super cycling? The riders were the leaders in the race, of course the cameras will be on them. They mentioned the bad luck with his tyre and everyone could see he finished the race on the rim. But every rider has experienced bad luck in some race-some even had to abandon. Acting like a baby because of it (perhaps poor tyre choices) in the race Poor little girl watching a 'vloer moer' from an adult. You could see he hurt his hand badly by the way he shook it afterward. Not a clever move in hindsight.
  25. And you ride all the ultra marathons, right? Middle distances are the most popular. I like my 35kms too. Unless it's an emergency route change on race day, it's not cool to change the distance on the start line.
