  1. Keith Bontrager - "Strong, light, cheap. Pick any two"
  2. Those actually look bloody nice
  3. Ag nooo ... What's the issue? 'Apparently' Teak showed an interest in keeping their trails open after the Nissan race... Imagine if Willow Park came through AND Teak stayed open! @mrparx .. Rietvlei Zoo Farm in Alberton, Wendell is also opening up new trails in a reserve just up the road from there as well! Oh ya, theres also Home of the Chicken Pie, on the way to Hartys. Best to do that with an organised group though, that know where they're going.
  4. http://www.twowheelstrading.co.za/blog/post.cfm/serfas-bikes-now-in-stock http://www.serfasbikes.co.za/bikes.cfm?year=2011&prod=XCR3_2011 http://www.silverbacklab.com/mountain.htm ... Check the 'Mountain Sports' and possibly one or two of the 'Mountain Performance' http://www.probike.co.za/blogs/brandon/sneak-peak-at-2011-nomad-and-blade-bikes .... Possibly rebranded directly as 'Probike' or just Nomad. Either way, also good entry level options.
  5. GoG, think Moscon is bad... Try deal with Luxotica (somewhere around that name) agents for Carrera. Worse than useless, even Carrera directly are a waste of time. Had an enquiry to replace a set of lenses for pair riding glasses, absolutely no interest in helping me. Even more disinterest when it was mentioned that the glasses were an oldish model. So I decided stuff them, burned the shades in the braai.
  6. Silverback, Nomad or Serfas. All excellent value for money!
  7. Place is opening right next door to Teak, so you'll still have your riding spot. There's also the bike park, Spruit, van Gaalens, Vlei, Kings Kloof and Groenies.
  8. The precious!
  9. Buffs, inexpensive and so versatile.
  10. Depends on what size frame, the TWEN9AL was around 1.8kg if I remember correctly. Built with X7, ZTR wheelset and Recon fork. It came in at just over 10kg. Which is pretty respectable I reckon. TWEN9AL and TWEN9ALC pricing is R2750- R2850 +_ External routing throughout.
  11. Oh really? .... Must've done something wrong then, had the best fun in ages! Kings Kloof is brill, the new bridge and trail sections criss crossing the river are a blast!!
  12. PCRS are doing a ride from Bottega in Parkhurst around midday.... rather sedate pace as well.
  13. Or the fact that it's not a monthly mag, but a bi-monthly mag. Dropped off a couple issues yesterday, hopefully you receive yours chop chop!
  14. Someone followed the link
  15. This may be of interest ... in latest news "Raleigh International has changed its business model within the South African market by creating its own company to manage the Raleigh brand and distribution in South Africa. Press statement Raleigh International has announced that after a very long period of close co-operation, it has severed its licensing agreement with Probike Pty Ltd, which managed the Raleigh brand and its distribution in South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and India. This decision follows the recent acquisition of Probike by Scott Sports International. These are key markets for Raleigh International, which has decided to form a new company, Raleigh South Africa, to enter the South African market directly. "This move is probably a blessing in disguise as it forces us to take a direct involvement in these important markets,” said Raleigh International’s John Macnaughtan. “Our first priority is...... 16. Absolutely, although I think Raleigh/Nomad catered to an ever lower price point. Not sure if Momsen does a bike at around 2/3k? Could well be wrong though. Either way, I like it that the guys also look at the lower (for lack of a better phrase) end of the market and cater for commuters, joe/jane soap and those just getting into the sport on a tight budget.
  17. Or even worse, your bike is wearing SRAM whilst you're draping yourself with XTR. It shall be like a woman scorned I tell you!
  18. Wonder if they'll carry on with the "Nomad" name then? Just do away with the Raleigh branding. Did a shoot last year with all their entry range, were really good value for money at that price point. Something that's sorely needed, makes the entry point for many first time buyers that bit easier and helps make the sport that bit more inclusive.
  19. Sweetly!
  20. Better than my keyring, socks and beanie! .... About the only stuff with an XTR badge I do own Where'd you organise this Dangle?
  21. In Delta Park? You must be joking. Ascenders. If folk can't see each other in Delta Park and use the space, they shouldn't be riding. Only one so called tree section I can think of, and that's near the fence line on the far side going towards Fratellis. Can see a rider from either end of that. Failing that, photo bomb yo
  22. Agreed, but then the results should be declared null and void for that event and a timeline spread out amongst the seeded groups so as to not affect seeding. Also the aforementioned 'marshall' needs a good clip! If events are to be CSA sanctioned/approved then there needs to be a minimum requirement of marshaling and route marking that needs to be enforced.
  23. Soon trained monkeys will be racing bikes...
  24. Edman sums it up perfectly.
