  1. Really couldn't comment on that. If you weren't pissed off then what were you, certainly went to a lot of effort. An example should be set by anyone, even if we consciously do it for ourselves. You set yourself up with your remarks, what you can make a snide remark and not expect a reaction. Come on. Of course it isn't, thats not up for discussion is it, obviously it isn't acceptable behavior for riders to do that and not give way for motorists. From any club.
  2. Couldn't have tried very hard, http://www.cyclelab.com/SuperCycling%20Club%20Contact%20Details.aspx
  3. No doubt, the riding is vastly superior. The trails are more or less the same, but the ups and downs change the dynamic a helluva lot, reckon if Groenies had the same gradients to their trails it would be very close to Tokai. Just what I've experienced from the few rides at Tokai, which sure as hell needs more exploration
  4. Fraid I wont be able to make this, already at the Samsung MTB thing on Sun...
  5. Could be an Alo II ? ... Still with SAAF markings by the look of it. Those were from the 60s/70s, before my time.
  6. I hope it's the community who catch the swine, and dish out a few running fukslaps at pace! Excellent news though!! Really really well done to all you okes and congrat to those reunited with their steeds!
  7. Yeah I have heard of a few, although on older models. I believe this has been resolved though, considering the bike I rode is a demo bike which has seen many riders and mileage, no reason to believe otherwise. Remember, the Cannondale Scalpel had similar issues, which the big C resolved. Also a beaut bike, albeit more race orientated, imo.
  8. Rode the Trek Superfly 100 for a few weeks. Have to say, it really surprised me and is a nippy and agile bike. If that's the kind of handling you like on a bike. Relatively well priced as well, specially for a frame from the US. Maybe a consideration/ http://www.cyclelab.com/products/TREK%20GARY%20FISHER%20COLLECTION%20HIFI%20DELUXE%2029er%20-%202011.aspx http://www.cyclelab.com/products/TREK%20GARY%20FISHER%20COLLECTION%20SUPERFLY%20100%20ELITE%2029er%20-%202011.aspx
  9. What the grb said. I'm from Jhb as well but have ridden Tokai a few times. Compared to Teak and Groenkloof, it's very much on the same level but a LOT more. Also your gradients are more extreme (for lack of a better phrase) You'll love it though, it really is one of CT's jewels!
  10. Give that man a bell! ... ehrm, Bells
  11. Kind of a crossbreed of a Giro and Bell at first glance...
  12. Why would or should Tokai's rules be any different to anywhere else in the world? So now if someone from elsewhere rides it's all about face because IMBA rules are thought be a thumbsuck ... man, just stick to logic, reading the IMBA post by DJR it really is a level headed approach. As has been mentioned; - Site with a trail map - Directional trail - DH only runs, which is just that. Down Hill only! - Signage for the above. That should be it. Straightforward enough. Mind you, the whole concept of rules and regulations etc is very much the anti thesis of mountain biking to me. However, it's necessary in places like Tokai since so many sure the trails, bloody naaaaiice trails at that.
  13. Looking gorgeous, time to ride her and get her dirty!
  14. There is a local supplier, so maybe he'll be able to assist. www.iplaygps.com 0861 66 7466
  15. Good squirt of Wynflo/n does the trick, about every 3- 6 months depending on your riding and conditions. Available from any DIY or Builders Warehouse. About 40 bucks I think.
  16. Photo and Film Expo at the Dome will be far better I reckon.
  17. According to my tweets intel, it's not there.... wasn't there last time I rode there either. http://weather.news24.com/Forecasts.aspx?loc=SA&cityId=77213
  18. 07:30am start at Teak
  19. Tis a touch fresh in Joburg as well, ride had a certain bite to it this eve.
  20. Is there an actual loop to go up and down, or is it on the same trail?
  21. Pretty expensive first option, replacing the fork. Have the wheels checked for trueness/tension. Also the headset might not be tightened properly. Check that the brake pad aren't catching one side.
  22. Actually Thule racks have a 5 year guarantee here, unless that has changed now. Had to replace mine and this was mentioned, experience was the same though, pretty much replaced it with no issue whatsoever.
  23. Ah man, this is indeed awesome news! Now if our mainstream sports media could catch a wake up ...
  24. Looks a bit like a 1 series BMW .... think I hear the click of GB's safety going off. Scusi moi
