  1. "What would a Prius look like if it were a bike instead of a car? That's what Toyota, Saatchi & Saatchi LA, Deeplocal, and Parlee Cycles wanted to explore with their PXP project. The final design was just revealed on John Watson's cycling/design site, and it's a doozy: lean, mean, and mind-controlled. (Yes, you read that last part right.) Futuristic bike designs tend to look not much unlike "normal" bikes, and the PXP is no different. "The Prius was not the first car, it was the car optimized. The PXP is an homage to that optimization," Saatchi & Saatchi LA's Executive Creative Director Chris Adams tells Co.Design. "This led us to a hybrid design that blends the characteristics of a super-aerodynamic time trial bike with the comfort and efficiency of road bike. Add in some innovative technology and you end up with the PXP." First, that "innovative technology" part -- the bike helmet, designed by Deeplocal, incorporates (wait for it) a"..... http://www.fastcodesign.com/1664515/a-prius-inspired-bike-has-mind-controlled-gear-shifting
  2. Like the idea of water bottles, always useful. Not sure what their cost is compared to medals? Two shoeboxes with various medals now, need actually turf them. Although the painted one from Rhode's Challenge is a keeper, back when it was sponsored by Norwich Life.
  3. Nope, printing and distribution is a bona fide headache for independent titles in SA as a whole. The trend is bucking though as the larger media houses lose the monopoly. Not to speak on behalf of Sean, but this issue has already gone out. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150715569840454&set=o.63716066791&type=1&theater
  4. Damn, the knitting needles are out in force ... Suicide Monday that bad eh?

  7. Jeez okes, that's why we refer to them as 'steeds' That Intern oke is a cad, but otherwise an ayoba bloke. Sidenote: I just belched so hard, my chestplate hurts.
  8. Normally h20 ... otherwise a spot of Vitargo or Epic Pro.
  9. And then from the man himself.... "Momsen - 05/12/11 - 8:05am Hi Guys, let me clear some things up. @Andrew – yes, this frame has been developed with Kinesis. They have some of the best technology available in the world when it comes to building a bicycle frame. ( tubing profiles and alloy materials , welding techniques, patented SPF process and excellent quality control – definately one of the more impressive alloy frame factories I have seen in my 17 years as a bicycle product manager ). The final frame version is significantly different to the original frame prototypes we received and have been testing ( as per the above Spy Pic ), ordering a frame off catalogue is not as easy as it may seem …. we totally revised the rear triangle, improved tyre clearance issues and front derailleur clearance, improved tolerances at the main linkage area, revised the taper headtube profile to a lighter and non-internal cable routing design ( the cables effected turning radius and shifting function ), improved cable routing on the front-end and added guides for a dropper seatpost and/or remote lockout cable, spent alot of time finalising rear shock tunes for a great ride feel. We are a new brand that focuses on offering great performing bikes at a competitive price. We use alot of catalogue products in our spec – these include offerings from Shimano, Sram, Fox and Continental to name a few. Keep an eye on our website for details on the new 2012 hardtail range – http://www.momsenbikes.com"
  10. Ah that's a shame. All those trails and the dedication to building some really nice singletrack, a lot of which was just starting to wear in nicely and mature. Never really had an issue there, although folk in the office and some at the restaurant could be a surly bunch! Guys at the gate are always awesome though and really friendly, which knowing how much of a dick some riders can be, was impressive. Hope we aren't losing access to the trails across the road as well!
  11. Any particular reason as such?
  12. Phark that's nice Crow .... looks like some serious rake on the fork though!
  13. Why is it the dog on the left looks like he's having a good laugh...
  14. Do you reach into another man's fridge and take a beer without asking?
  15. Don't worry about lawyers and what not, that thread was binned due to a former employee stirring. The Volcan bike are good bikes and supported by an established distributor, http://www.emotioncycling.co.za/ Contact Dave/Stewart I think. They should be able to help with a test ride or at least locating a dealer who has a test bike. You like the look, now make sure you're comfortable riding the bike and it's a good fit for you and the riding you want to do. Specially since you're just starting out. Best of luck there.
  16. +1 on the Moda Nine, although the shock angles seem awkward. The KHS looks interesting as well. Keep an eye on the Momsen bikes as well, launching a full sus 29er very very soon!
  17. This the one leaving from Bottega?
  18. Ever crashed in a bunch? Good or bad coordination doesn't make a difference, you hit the deck. Quick draw splat
  19. Come on man, think, where else are you going to hang a papsak!
  20. Reminds me, thanks buddy....
  21. Thankfully Lake shoes are back in SA http://www.thebicyclecompany.co.za/contact.htm Don't think anyone is doing DMT locally anymore? Have seen them at Cajees though. Lake were one of the best pairs of shoes I ever owned. My DMT skoens are also bombproof and I love them, but nowhere near as comfortable. Although shoes are a highly personal thing.
  22. Looks like an XXL
  23. Tim James put it to good use at Freedom Trail
  24. The aforementioned club does do that, do they get it right all of the time, certainly not. They are one of the most proactive clubs in combatting the problem though, which also being one of the largest clubs, is no small task. Not all rides are club organised either, there are plenty people out riding together on club kit on their own informal rides. Which is completely outside of a club's scope to marshall, unfortunately. It comes down to the individual's sense of abiding by the rules, and we all know how that works in general when we get on the road with any form of transport.
