  3. Met Steve??? Great song so by the way' date=' la my verlang na di dae va my verlea....... Thanx Orca [/quote'] Makes me 'verlang' after melktert. Darn I'm hungry!
  4. You will have to ask I FLY, I'm posting on his behalf. You see, he is 'slightly' technically challenged and I had to retrieve the pic from an MMS, onto an email, saved and then posted (actually if I say it like that, it does sound chalenging!)
  5. I saw this reflective vest on a motorbiker last week. I stopped him and found out where he bought it from. It has 16 red flashing leds front and back plus the reflective strips. We test rode them yesterday morning at 5am. I could see my buddy "flashing" from 300 metres and the motorists gave us a clear berth. Maybe they thought we were aliens! If you want one, PM me (I FLY) and I will give you the contact details. The lights run off 2 penlight batteries and the total cost for each vest was R120. MichH2007-07-26 04:43:54
  6. Hahahahahaha! Can't believe there is an international conker championship!!
  7. I'm still fairly scraped up from the race, but possibly ready for an afternoon ride at NF. My coach says: "90min to 2 hours flat to undulating, 55-70% MHR"
  8. You mean the English still win international conkers tournaments?!
  9. I work in Midrand and often ride both sides, Jhb and Pta. Would be keen to ride sometime.
  10. Hehehehe, ewep, I was trying not to remind him who it was who said it in case it got you into more trouble!!
  11. Yeah, but like someone else said today DR, you have to be careful not to fall through your own poepol you're so maer! Erm, regarding the OP, sorry can't help!!
  12. I heard that the bearings are moerse expensive because Specialised does not use a standard bearing, but it needs to be specially ordered. I know my Commencal is easier because it is a standard bearing. I overheard a conversation at my LBS that the bearing kit alone was a couple of grand, but I don't own a Specialised so not a totally reliable source of info
  13. Hehehehe, begs the question, what else does he use the handcuffs for?
  14. I thought the whole point of why men went to spinning classes was the girls in tight lycra? You mean some of you are actually TRAINING?! Hee hee, just kidding, WW's advice seems sound. also look at time of day that you ride road vs spinning. May play a role?
  15. Licking works for me (hmmm.... there are soooo many ways that could be misunderstood!!)
  16. I believe Polar offers a product like this but no idea where you would get it. Phone Polar distributor on 011 805 1028
  17. Surely the sun wouldn't make a difference during one ride? It's only going to be a few hours, and your drink shouldn't stay full remember?!
  18. On Sunday's ride, I 'burped' my rear tyre. When we pumped it up a bit, we succeeded in breaking the inner thread of the valve (darn Presta valves!) Seeing as I'm racing this weekend, I was hoping Mikes Bikes could just remove the inner thread and put in a new one, but with a Stans conversion, this could be tricky. Brendon took the bike in on Tuesday night, and Jason fixed it whilst he waited! No fuss, no hassle, no charge. This is really service above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
  19. Depends what you're looking for. It sounds like you are looking for a race bike with some creature comforts, i.e. 100mm travel dual suspension. As you know, I'm crazy about the Commencal, I have the Meta 5.5, but I think the Meta 4 would be more suited to your needs. Jean-Luc and Graham have demo stock all over the country, i'm sure they will have one for you to demo. Marais Dekker races on one, and won the Gauteng Provincial a few months ago at Fountains on his Meta 4.

I have recently purchased a Meta 5.5 and I'm very happy with both the bike and the service offered by the local distributors (see Jean-Luc above). I purchased the bike as a trail bike, not so worried about the weight, looking more for big travel and stability. I found excellent reviews on www.mtbr.com, and demo'd a bike before purchasing. My bike is heavy at 14.5kg on the Large, but I bought the 5.5.3. If you buy the 5.5.1, the weight comes down to 12.5kg. The bike is stable, descends very fast, and corners well. The rear suspension design has the benefits of a single pivot design, but the shock is remotely activated, and I have found pedal bob is slight to non-existant. I have a friend who writes for one of the local bike mags, who is also on the SA Downhill team for 2007, he has also just purchased one. I would recommend it.
  21. Glad to hear you came right.
  22. Everyone knows that I share these positive sentiments about Mike's Bikes, glad to hear that these stories are spreading, not just one "moment of brilliance". No store is perfect and I know there have been some bad experiences, but the number of positive experiences is a good thing.
  23. Whooosh... The sound of that question passing waaaay over my ability to contribute!
  24. I'm with DR, why have one disc brake when you can have two?
  25. Now Jason, don't go ruining the start of a good friendship by bunking work early and leaving the rest of us here! Enjoy!
