  1. NOOOOOOOOO I sleep until 6AM on weekends. Leaving Brewers at 6AM is already making me grumpy and stealing my beauty sleep (which I do need). Anyway it is max 45mins to the top of Klapperkop (I check it this morning (like I do every morning since my wife crashed my car). and 15 mins down to Groenkloof (If you take the single track along the golf course fence). PS cut the colbyn turn out (km no 1) and go over the Duncan road saddle at Queenswood corner and I know a short cut through brooklyn that also cuts about another km off the proposed route. Another proposal is to meet at Oppiplaas on the cnr of Duncan(Coldonia) and Terblance which will cut another km off the route.
  2. buy a wrist brace and strap the wrist. Spend the rest of your money on beer. THe steel frame and fork will eliminate much of the buzz that you fear will hurt your wrist.
  3. Is that a road crossing I see near the start? How will the traffic be managed or are their bridges and tunnels?
  4. try on-one inbred 14" it should fit and the steel frame will take the suspension "shock" that a dual would normally provide her at that size frame

    Sizing?

TT length and headset and seattube angle are the importnat measurements
  6. sounds good, but maybe we do Sidney to Klapperkop and then the single track down to the bottom gate.
  7. talking.......... where will the ride start? Brewers Rietfontien? about 6ish?

    In or out

Okay style errors: yellow value caps. Dude your chuck those. Hollard water bottle. White bar tape. Tyres matching the frame and not the bar tape. Fuggly bars- possible indicator we are dealing with a triathlete here. Polar watch attached to fuggy bars- probably a triathelete. Excessive amount of spacers under the bars- definitely a triathlete. Best you can do is to ride away as fast as possible, before you get triathelete cooties and start rolling up your cycling shorts and wearing onepeice trisuits.
  9. It should work. The shifter is the part that has the pretensioning in for each calibrated shift, the derailer is the "Slave". Even a 9 speed rear derailer should work with ten speed shifters (you may just have to change the rollers to ten speed cogs)
  10. On-one and plant-x are having a sale. Check it out at on-one.co.uk
  11. GT Peace only work with a rigid fork. Klaar. GT Peace in order to have any cred will run one gear. It is a rigid, steel single speed, it just don't do suspension. If you persist, it would be better to just give the bike to someone who can appreciate these things. (Maybe give it back to the previous owner). However, if you continue, expect to be ridiculed by other GT peace owners. Yes you will be able to ride along with the SS community, just like JuJu is allowed at ANC rallies, and Zille is allowed to visit Zuma's new crib. But you will know that you have desicrated some sacred design tenant.
  12. check the following: if you cannot touch your toes then your handle bars ned to be higher than your saddle. THe greater the distance between your fingers and toes, the higher the handlebars. Also check your reach. A rule of thumb is that if you jam your elbow against the nose of your saddle, your middle finger should be in line with the middle of your stem. Often handlebar higher and bike reach are the problem. Once you have stretched yourself out can you lengthen your reach and drop your handle bars. ps If you lif the handle bars you may also consider a shorter stem as well.
  13. An interesting study in UK showed that you stand a greater chance of a head and neck injury in a motor car accident than in a cycle acident, but motorists are not expected to wear helmets at all
  14. get some mary bars, and consider taking one link out of the chain, also consider a bolt through rear hub as the QR 9mm looks a bit feable, and as a result maybe untrustorthy on a long downhill. Also a flater quil stem may also give it a racer look by dropping the front end. Other than that it looks awesome
  15. my point exactly, well almost
  16. Problem is that in court an eye witness account is accepted as evidence. Over 20 eye witness accounts that corrolate with each other is accepted as fact. Also failure to contest accusations is ADMISSION of guilt. Therefore, there is a case. LA has the means to contest but unfortunately he knows he cannot defend his behaviour as he knows he did dope, and therefore he choses to not CONTEST the case thereby accepting he is GUILTY. Go check it out with your lawyers they will confirm it too.

  18. http://www.bustedcarbon.com/ just to remind ya all that steel is the real material to build a bike........
  19. http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2011/08/are-all-carbon-bikes-created-equal/ The thing with Chinese goods is Quality Control. The branded bikes essentially claim to have met the high standards set by the brand, and the brand is willing to provide a warrantee to back that up. An unbranded bike is not advertising any standard. The point of the article is that part of the promise of a brand is that the frame will break safely when it breaks. The brand stakes its reputation on that. However as was pointed out VOLCAN as a brand did not represent such a standard, but rather was a marketing ploy to sell bikes. so even with branded bikes, chose your brand carefully. As I am financially challenged I will shop around for the best deals, and unbranded will also be considered.
  20. but you are neither slow or unfit........G
  21. I may be in on this.
  22. don't brake. Problem fixed
