  1. I carry a spyderco (Pacific salt) most of the time. I won the biggest knife contest with a bike jacker a few years back. moer scary, cant cant slice much with it, blade looks better suited to hacking a moose's head off.
  2. Quoted WHAM, and then they blocked the fred before I could point it out to all and sundry and get all personal wiff someone what I dont even know
  3. I bought and sold a bike off the hub this weekend: Bought from Cape Town and I got the guy to drop the bike off at a cycleshop (I used Bikeplus in Constantia) so the bike is in the shop, near the seller, and it can stay there until the money has cleared. (I fortunately know Xavier so he did this service, but I recon others might also) One I sold I dropped of the bike at the airport with the buyers parents who just happened to be traveling back from Dbn. I did however ask the buyer for details, and he sent me a link to his company website, where he is listed, and his brothers details who lives in durban. So I had some comfort while the bank took 2 days for the money to clear. In short, get details, or better still, use a trusted intermediary.
  4. Google or give Greg (owner of Cyclesphere a call) Agreed, the crest on SLX at R2k looks a smart deal.
  5. Back to the OP's questions. Food is what they need, not supliments. Some of us race 6-8hrs on liquids and Gu's, but we have got used to it over time. At 14 they must have solids in their somaches. So, as a few have said before. Potatoes, eggs and penut butter sarmies in the transition, and have salt availible, their bodies will decide if they need that or not. On route - dried fruit, nuts, biltong. and honestly water is fine if you are eating, you don't need to drop coin on fancy drinks

  7. I had a busy one, Sold a bike, and a set of racing wheels (to a first time poster 600km's away - droped the bike at the airport), had a nervous monment because my bank took two days to clear the funds, but all 100% Bought an Indoor trainer - Face to face And bought a Bike (from Cape Town) got the seller to drop it at Bikeplus (new bike shop in Constantia) where it will be serviced, boxed and sent to me. that brings my tally to 4 bikes bought and 3 sold on the hub, 1 groupset & cockpit, and countless bits and bobs Love this place,
  8. I have run Evo's for a while, (on AC's and Giant rims) did Sani etc. I run low preasures, 1.6 fron and 1.8 back. But when installing, pump to 3.5 bar with lots od stans. Turn and shake the wheels a lot. then leave them horizontal for a night on each side. Then ride once at hi preassure, and then drop to desired prassure. Have burped once, when shop did the instal, used slime, and no doubt did not follow my protocol. I am 62kgs though

  12. Hi Guys, Looking for some help here, my wife has been cycling for a couple of months, with contact lenses and glasses. She can now no longer wear contacts, so we are looking at plan B. What are the experiences of Hubbers out there? How easy is it to get prescription sports glasses? Thinking that getting yellow lenses may be best as they will work in most light conditions, is this the sensible? Which models/brands convert well? Thanks Bruce

    Wild Coast rides

Haven to Coffebay is day 3 of the Imana wild ride, so people in the area are used to cyclists. Also, through funds raised by the wild ride, 22 clasrooms have been built at schools between Kei mouth and Umngazi, so there is a positive relationship between cycling and the comunity in that area. less than two weeks ago I was at a classroom handover just outside coffee bay. Regarding riding chat to Nick Floris, or Rebecca van Der Linda (contact details on the wildride site). I recall riding through a game reserve south of Hole in the wall that is worth a visit.
  14. What size are you, if you ride a small, I have the perfect bike for you, and you'll have enough chnge to get yourself extras. Selling my Giant antherm 29er in excellent condition.
  15. great quality
  16. Sat - collect bike from shop and go for a spin, make sure all in workind order Sun - Drive to Kei Mouth Mon - Thur IMANA WILD RIDE
  17. Hold the phone, a 1x10 26" is faster than a 2x10 29er. Not possible, can not be, say it aint so.
  18. Go For It, What do you have to lose. At worst, it will make you stronger. Not had one, but ridden with a guy with a 1x9 and he had no chain guard/tensioner, and could ride away from me up and down.
  19. The big thing is there are Chiro's and there are Chiro's. My wife is a Chiropractor, and looks after a couple of pro athleats. Session with her are often an hour, as she does a lot more than just a ruk en pluk. Also what is important is she understands athleats and strains they put on their bodies. Most patients, athleats and sedentry folk' also leave with a streaching and exercise routine. those that comply achieve results quicker. (she also refers to a biokinetisist and Pilates when required) To many people rely on someone else to fix them, and take no ownership of the process. it is a team effort. DO the streaching!
  20. Imana wild ride, Without doubt the best experience for a foreigner. Get to ride on the beach, sea the beautiful and rural eastern cape, and get to contribute to the building of classrooms for poor schools
  21. Size matters, I'm 5'6" and 62kgs rushed across to a niner and although faster in the open, I really mis my 26 dual, and if I had some cash I would definately get a 5-6inch travel 26er
  22. Try and pass me on Jeeptrack
  23. If you don't at least give him a chance to rectify, you are going to get flamed, and probably rightfully. If you give him the chance and he prooves to be the Knob you think he is, then attack. removing the add is barely proof of deceit
