  1. Not sure how accurate trailforks is, due to the “community “ perhaps not updating routes as often. last time we were there, we could not ride the majority of the longer loops due to logging activity. safest prolly is looking at strava, and piecing something together from that. I will also try and contact the club to see if they can offer some info regarding permits etc
  2. Want
  3. Yeah, I found trailforks almost impossible to use when trying to use it on my Garmin. Will give it a bash with the computer, and transfer to the GPS.
  4. I'd be very keen on obtaining some GPX files if you dont mind sharing. I suppose one can look on strava as well?
  5. We will be in Hilton from the 21st till 2nd Jan. Having only ridden Karkloof twice before, I am really excited to have more time to ride there. All this talk of climbing is making my legs hurt already...maybe, I should slap on the 20t, or at least take it along....
  6. +1 Never got confused... But.... trying to lane split with the car... that's another story...
  7. Just give fair warning before closing off topic discussion. I need to work on a profound last post... I’d hate it to be something mundane like “+1” or “LOL”
  8. DBAD JBL This rule doesn't have a number, but it is the golden rule. Don't Be A Dwis.....Just Be Lekker
  9. specially if your tent is in proximity to mine.... (not riding this year sadly) @ OP are you riding solo? If possible get to know your partner in terms of pace by doing a couple of rides together.
  10. Dont get caught up in the fast dirt roadie sections on day 1 ( I say this every year, and I dont have any matches left for the last couple of hills (Every year) Enjoy the first part of day2. Pace yourself out the valley. Personally I think 3l of additional water may be excessive due to the added weight, but I drink little. (water, not beer.) I have been very lucky not to have had any mechanicals on a sani, so have become a bit complacent with only carrying what I would on a normal ride. (Plug kits, tools co2 cartriges, masterlink) There are enough waterpoints along the route with plenty to snack. Big factor in december is the heat and humidity, so try and get some mid-day rides (short at first, and then a bit longer each time, to acclimatise and mentally prepare yourself for the warmer temps you may experience. Pack more beer money that you think you will need...
  11. All baggies as non padded baggies. Am I missing something?
  12. Last week friday, started feeling groggy, spent the whole weekend in bed, congested, and general feeling crap. Today mostly better. Still have post nasal and irritating cough. have not ben to the doc, as I have not been sick enough. But normally it doesnt take this long to recover. No-one else in the house has it. at this rate, I should hopefully be ok on Monday. Have not looked at a bike sadly.
  13. We have our year end function this afternoon... nuf said
  14. The thought of spending 200k on a motorcycle is insanity in my mind. Same with bicycles. Ill have to wait a couple of years before I consider trading the 8gs for a 8fiddy. or perhaps win the lottery. Took the 8gs for a burn through the cradle after dropping the lighty off at school, and even with 116k kms on the clock, I still had a schoolboy grin on my face when I stopped at home.
  15. Already did..."Made in China"
  16. Checking in to say, I am very happy with my SE (2020) kicks ass, and does what it says on the box
  17. Cogent Industries in Pretoria. Bit of a schlep to go to the other side of the boerewors curtain, but excellent service. I have never paid too much mind to fork service intervalsin the past. I have a straight steerer rockshox on my on-one, and due to the scarce nature of replacement straight steerer forks, I am paying more attention to keeping the fork in tact at the moment. I was pleasantly surprised that a full service on this fork only costs R850 odd. This is money I will gladly spend once a year to keep my fork in business
  18. You may have to wait a very long time to get paid. There is currently a backlog on payments for successful claims. Sorry to hear about your incident
  19. Beer consumption fitness, makes the early mornings so much easier.
  20. Look at frontier coffee. They have servciced contracts ( tax deductible) as well as outright purchase options. We have a DR Coffee machine, and it kicks ass! Frontier’s service is also very good
  21. Yeah, not sure I’ll venture into season3. but thats just me. waiting for season two of warrior to fully realease, as I cant stand the week to week release. speaking of week to week release, long way up has been very enjoyable on appletv+ but it’s painful to wait...
  22. I lauf every time I see the price. I also lauf at my stupid puns. It’s just so laufably easy. i’d rather ride a unicycle before I ride a lauf, or fit a seatpost mount bottlecage
  23. Honestly, I am looking at going back to rigid. Suspension is bloody expensive. Throw in some straight steerer constraints, and It’s basically sold it’s self. At the cost of me enjoying going down hills fast.
