  1. I was there around 10, didn't have any issues, took about 30 minutes to get to the front of my queue. Last year it took me 25 minutes just to find parking at Sandton City, then at least another 10 to walk to the expo. The Dome is a much better venue than Sandton in my opinion.
  2. They pay, and pay plenty.
  3. They came from Wiggle, so I don't think the post office will deliver them by Sunday. Maybe next year
  4. I got a set of the new Dura Ace C24's, the 9000 range, a few weeks ago. Compatible with 10 or 11 speed. Great wheels, total cost was just over 9k.
  5. If you don't feel like training, and aren't being paid to train, then don't train. Pack the bike away and do something completely different for a while. Chances are after a week or 10 days you will be missing the bike, and ride it again with renewed vigour. Works for me every time.
  6. I have been warning about this for a long time, and I'm not new to the Hub. Reading this comment, the 5 stages of loss immediately spring to mind: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. You are in the denial stage. The rest will follow as the incidents become more serious, and the "loss" of the Cradle as a safe venue becomes apparent. Wake up, people. The Cradle is part of SA, with all it's crime and grime. Cyclists who assume they are safe in the Cradle are sadly mistaken.
  7. I don't know why anyone is suprised by this type of thing any more. There are a group of protected elite who will do what they want, whenever they want, and will always get away with it and be promoted by their cronies in power. Bomber Mcbride is one of them. There are many, many more waiting in the wings. Accept it as your future, or rid yourself of it by using the one and only cure ~ a passport and a one way ticket.
  8. It's wrong, but it happens. In a true corporate sense, making fun of a customer is dumb and unprofessional. In a workshop / low level sales situation it happens a lot. Staff who fill these positions are generally not very well educated or sophisticated, so in his eyes it was probably just a bit of harmless fun, repeated many times in a normal working day. Notify management. They will be very apologetic, promise to take action, and do nothing.
  9. I have. It's in my garage. Best bike workshop around, I have no complaints whatsoever.
  10. Or, The guy was building up the bike bit by bit, wife decided he was spending too much time and money on it, so she dumped it and told him it had been stolen.
  11. DO shave your legs. DO hold an arrow straight line for 100km's, or the pro's in group G will give you a good talking to. Nothing else matters
  12. I'm pretty sure everyone will say well done on getting your bike back, but you had better hope the rasta doesn't lay a charge against you, because he can if he wants to. You effectively stole the bike from him, and by pulling him off the bike, you could also face an assault charge. I hope you don't get a 3am wake up call from 6 or 8 cops one of these days. They do love disturbing the sleep of an easy target.
  13. Technique? Lets not go there. Too many different opinions. Training: Lots more riding, and if you really want to sort out the problem asap, start doing squats and lunges in the gym. That will have you standing and climbing like a doped up Lance Armstrong
  14. That will have to be some good pudding, because your current service levels are ultra ***. You should take a look at Incredible Connection. They are overpriced, I know it, but I have never walked into an IC store and not been approached by a salesman within seconds. I happily pay more because I don't have to waste my valuable time looking for stuff ~ I ask, they get, I pay, and back to work. At Cycle Lab, the procedure is walk in, stand around like a lost fart while the sales people take care of who-knows-what in the background, then look for the item yourself, maybe find it, but most times just walk out and go somewhere else. That's my experience, maybe others will differ. But I accept your challenge, and will pop in. Lets taste some of that ultra service pudding.
  15. You've just got to love the pre-election antics of these clowns. Zuma leading the charge to reduce perks. Yeah, right. Is it April fools day?
  16. The results of this race are always a stuff up, because people can take short cuts in all the distances. Racetec removed the original obvious cheaters, but there are still at least 2 people in the top 50 who shouldn't be there (first and second in the F group, times of 2:19 and 2:22) Looking at previous results of these two individuals, there is no way they did 2:19 or 2:22 These are just two that I happened to spot, there are probably lots more.
  17. So, by reading between the lines, are we to assume that Just Cycles is in fact, the offending party? Just guessing.
  18. It's probably just someone at Racetec having one of their usual brainfart moments. Give it an hour or two and the results will be back.
  19. The 105 groupset for 2013 is great. The 2011 Ultegra (6600 if I'm not mistaken) was good, but had exposed cables. The 6700 had hidden cables, and would probably be roughly equivalent to the new 105. If it was me I wouldn't think twice about it, the new 105 would be my choice.
  20. All these "holding line" comments really make me smile. Show me any group, in any fun ride, where everyone holds their line and flows along smoothly for 100k's like a stage of the Tour. It just doesn't happen. There are far too many wanabee pro's in the bunches who should spend more time pedalling, and less time shouting and expecting everyone to hold a perfect line. Rather give a slightly bigger gap, and expect the unexpected. It will be much less stressful.
  21. I couldn't care less about the goodie bag ~ it goes straight to my gardener anyway. Same applies to the medal ~ junk. Same applies to the entry fee ~ as much as it irritates me to support the ASG crowd, that's life. I do, however, care about my skin and bones. No words can describe that pathetic little strip of tar that was used for the start/finish. It was not suitable for the job, and never will be. It was without a doubt the most dangerous feature of the entire race. If that strip of tar is what ASG calls "investing in infrastructure at the venue" (from their previous post), then i'm sorry to say it's just not good enough.
  22. Conti GP4000S for me. It's a much better tyre than I am a rider. No complaints whatsoever.
  23. Only 5 noob posts and already the insults are flying. Keep this up, and you are going to be veeeery popular on the Hub.
  24. Rule 1 of online shopping: Know what you are buying. I got wheels from them a few weeks back, delivered through the post office, no issues, no extra charge, and considerably cheaper than local price. Delivery was super quick too. Will happily order from them again.
  25. Having a bad day is one thing, it happens to all of us, but feeling unbalanced and falling three times is not a bad day, it is something that should be investigated without delay. Get yourself to a doctor. The hub is not the place for dealing with this.
