  1. With Entelect involved it's a given...
  2. C'mon guys - did you EVER expect Entelect to get it right? I have never entered an event through them that has not involved some level of c*ck up. When I saw they were (unfortunately) the "IT" partner, I knew it was going to fall over...
  3. I see it's on their Web page: http://www.highroadsports.com/
  4. The article discusses the outcome of an opinion poll, not a scientific study. 'nuff said...
  5. Sun City is a bad race to borrow a tandem. Everyone who has a tandem is usually there...
  6. My tuppence: - photochromatics are a must; - ensure a tight fit over your cheeks to stop mud flying in from below.
  7. I also had powerline and shirt flapping problems with my Polar. I'm now on my third Garmin (305, 705 and now 800) and have never had a problem...
  8. Just been to several sites (Giro, BBB, Uvex) and they all list weights. For example: http://us.uvex-sports.com/cycling/products/?pNavi=11&pModel=fp%203
  9. Since the point of rants has been raised: <RANT> Now you're speaking toss. I did a triple major BSc (Physics, Applied Mathematics and Geophysics) and still held down 3 jobs (research assistant, tut lecturer and bridging scheme lecturer - AND did army camps!). What you're basically saying is that you're like most of the lazy buggers in this country who sit around complaining they don't have it all laid on their plate and they want it given to them (preferably for free). Stop complaining, get off your arse and do something about it. Life ain't easy.. </RANT>
  10. <DEEP COMMENT> This REALLY sucks! </DEEP COMMENT> Shame on these guys ripping of the riders...
  11. Do they slap you if you pull out of the race?
  12. Yes - if you don't own a chip. If you already own a chip (one of the old Winning Time ones or the new orange Ractec ones) then you don't need to buy a new one.
  13. You are not compelled to wear a chip at the race, but you have to have a chip to enter. If you don't have one, you have to buy one as they need a chip number for you...
  14. The problem is that the reflectors are required to be SABS approved (none actually are and your tape won't be). If you want to be 100% legal, you'll have to get car reflectors with the SABS stamp on them as I have never seen bike ones that conform. But the average traffic cop doesn't know that...
  15. Unfortunately I have to agree with this comment. Unfortunately, though, it often appears that certain transgressions are ignored while other ones (which they know they'll get revenue from) are focussed on. The frustration of the SA motorist...
  16. Hmmm. With an attitude like that I bet they're also glad you aren't a member. Instead of being a whingeing tjop why don't you act like an adult and have the balls to contact Ali to give her a chance to do something about it? Her email is Ali@cyclelab.com if you have a real complaint. Tell her I sent you...
  17. If you think the Jawbones are ugly, try these:
  18. My tuppence: No - you're not being unreasonable. You paid for a certain good and you should get it. As for the service: if you're unhappy escalate. Go to management and sort it out there. I see Andrew was decent enough to pick up the thread and be proactive in sorting it out. +1
  19. You might to start off... ;-)
  20. Try the Illovo group riding from theTotal on Oxford Road by Thrupps Tues to Fri at 05:00. Their site is at http://www.cyclesafe.co.za
  21. Agreed. Great service from all at ASG.
  22. I had a cr@p ride, but all my own fault. The organisation was excellent and the Helivac marshals did a fantastic job. The only unpleasant section was the back bit (R25?) with the cross wind and traffic.
  23. Another mini hijack: I have to run VirtualBox on one of my machines solely so I can do the same with my Garmin...
  24. Fairly common on a tandem (we do this going down Hekpoort). I believe (open to correction) that Jurie Krige was clocked on his tandem doing in excess of 120kph at the first Panorama Tour. From what I've seen of him and downhills, I'll believe it...
  25. *** YAAAAWWWWNNNN *** Must be REALLY quiet on the Hub...
