  1. Sorry holy roller, my garmin has gone back to Avnic. It didn't like the rain last week Tuesday . I think most of the route is private land but I am sure that after all the effort that went into building the track they will open it up some times. I suppose Fritz Pienaar would know. As a non technical MTB rider I was really out of my depth there but what fun. I would also love to go back and ride it again in drier conditions. Also using the school as a venue was a brilliant idea, plenty of places for people to shelter from the rain and proper toilet facilities, would have been nice to have some showers though. All in all it was well organised with lots of work going into the course, I will be back .
  2. The Thug slipped on a muddy wooden slatted bridge and fell onto some protruding rivets (hence the stitches). His carbon bars went in between the slats and snapped off.
  3. Thanks steven, I guess then that the damage would be caused by the broken Power Link passing through the rest of the Drive Train.
  4. Magnesium supplement, I take Slowmag (or generic equivalents) 2 tabs at night and 1 in the morning.
  5. Hi Steven Thanks for the reply, that is exactly why I am asking, I am not doubting what you are saying. I think you will agree though that there seem to be alot of guys using quick links that don't seem to have had problems. Are you saying then that quick links can actually damage other drivetrain components and if so is it only when the links fail or do they cause damage even while running?
  6. Big Ben, that's interesting because I am using the QR link (as in the picture above) and it is very easy to clip and unclip, in fact I was initially worried that it might unclip itself. I have had it on my Dura Ace 10spd chain since June and done about 4500km with no problems. I bought it at Cyclelab, where do you get the SRAM one from?
  7. Hagar i think the worst that can happen is that the link could break, I can't see that it could damage the chain or any other part of the drivetrain in any way but lets see what Steven says. He obviously has to recommend Shimano parts for a Shimano chain as he represents the distributors.
  8. That's where your problem lies, bring the bike into the lounge and let her watch the DVD .
  9. Steven could you expand on what you are saying, I have been running a Dura Ace chain for 4500km now with QR connecting link as in the picture above. I have not experienced any problems with either the link or chain. As you know it is much easier for removing the chain for cleaning purposes. Where would I expect to pick up problems?
  10. Separate category starts are the way to go especially if you are racing. At least then you know where you are amongst your competition. Also wouldn't need a seeding system.
  11. Nice one Barend - you go boy !!!
  12. I agree that the Polar is an excellent product and their service is the best (i had a S720 before) but I think if you want GPS functionality then the Garmin is the best way to go plus you get everything in one small package.
  13. C'mon Minty, you just wanted an excuse to get SARA to let her hair down .
  14. The same product is used to repair car tyres so you can literally leave it in for the life of the tyre. We use them all the time on 4x4 trips, would have been stuffed without them.
  15. They all either sleeping or surfing .
  16. Tjokkits have you seen this thread, seems like your kind of stuff: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=16434
  17. No it is 116km as measured on my Garmin. If you look at motionbased it sez bruce did 125km Bruce can confirm but I don't think they started and finished at the Dome.

  19. Thanks guys, was a nice relaxed training ride, anyone find out what happened to ShaunH?
  20. Steady now big man - before you go throwing your usual wild assumptions around' date=' just consider that a Power Tap measures at the hub whereas an SRM measures at the crank - there will be a difference in reading due to drive train losses. This does not make either inaccurate - just reading from a different source [/quote'] And an IBike measures from nowhere .
