  1. Not very common in SA (yet). Last I checked, Specialized had some (for their 64mm Rovals) but they were pricey... R500 if I remember correctly. Extenders are an option depending on rim depth as you still need a valve long enough to protrude ... 50mm plus rims are a challenge.
  2. What I see is two cyclists turning without signaling or looking back to ensure that it's safe to do so. Suspect they realize this when they hear your vehicle accelerating, and as is natural for some, go on the offensive as it is "obviously your mistake". A courtesy wave and apology may have been more appropriate.
  3. "... signed for Circus-Wanty Gobert, who are set to compete at WorldTour level in 2021..."
  4. Like you, I've also been on OrangeSeal for a while now but always on the lookout for good alternatives. Enduro Seal seems to be quite popular and on my list to try next. The other that I've seen mentioned quite often is OKO Magic Milk.
  5. Some of the local vehicles are normally quick to point it out to cyclists not using it. But it's often a toss of a coin in choosing which is safer.

    Rapha Festive 500

Now that would be some achievement... especially for those of us who battle to get through 30mins on the IDT. LOL The thought crossed my mind, but then both mind and butt objected.
  7. Are you referring to the 404 disc set advertised during the day yesterday @ R10k.? I noticed the ad but it was gone before I could have a look at the detail. Suspected that it may have been removed.
  8. By no means a serious athlete but I absolutely hate that cycle lane. I don't head that way often, but when I've been there I've always felt on edge. Heal up quickly.
  9. Seems Table Mountain is away for the morning.
  10. Happy to still be climbing. Remembering those who were less fortunate and their families, particularly today. Still a long way from cresting 2020, but we'll keep slogging away.
  11. Merida is completely unfamiliar to me. Those however look like purpose cut covers of sorts. Covers for cable routes if using Di2 or Etap perhaps.? One for the top tube entry, and the curved one possibly on the bb.
  12. Exactly what I said. Why the pics if just innocently passing with a little toot to signal your presence. Suspect lots of facts have been conveniently omitted from the FB post. Again, it doesn't condone the subsequent actions of the cyclist, but it fails to give a full picture.
  13. I think this year and the target is largely influenced by potential lockdowns across the world. 500km on the IDT is a completely different challenge I recon. Also consider 500km outdoors in a Northern Hemisphere winter ...
  14. I assumed that the initial passing happened near the Point parking and the altercation ensued when both parties were there.? Tjop or not, I would like to hear both sides of this story ...
  15. Not many posts relating to Rapha ... seems it may be low key this year. So it's either solo for me too, or worse, solo on the IDT. LOL
  16. Two sides to every story they say .... The fact that pics were being taken of riders not in absolutely single file suggests that the occupants of the vehicle were not impressed to start with. I doubt the hoot was just one of warning. That said, and anything that transpired subsequently, doesn't justify in physical altercation. Can't people all just be lekker ... there's enough other things to worry about.! This sort of thing and silly season in general has seen me pack my bike away for the week. I'll resume on the weekend when hopefully the pandemonium of Xmas week would have settled down a bit.
  17. That's a reasonable chunk of the challenge done on day 1. I was looking for others doing it here on the Hub (to possibly join) but seems it's pretty low key this year. IDT crossed my mind but that would just be torture. LOL
  18. Exactly.! That chap in the LBS would probably also like to be out riding or sitting around a fire with beer in hand. He doesn't really want to service your bike, or fix your tubeless leak, but if you're willing to pay the premium, no problem. Often see people quoting exorbitant fees because they actually don't want the job.
  19. Needed ... LOL Congrats.
  20. My Jawbreakers, before and after. Thx ReVu.!
  21. Perhaps touch base with these guys: https://www.citycyclingclub.co.za/
  22. Most recommendations suggest that a combination of lube, heat, even force and patience is required ... and probably some luck too.
  23. It is a very exposed stretch of road ... can only imagine what it must be like the the winds are howling from the south. Pick your day to ride it carefully ...
