  1. When the road gets tough don't quit just change your shoes! The mullet bike testing done now just put into normal service 😎
  2. So do I mate, somehow always felt better after our chats 😏
  3. If you have a clutch derailleur I can have a go at solving it for you no problem!
  4. We can talk for sure! Another solution has been put into my head by the Grumpy one though ... more interesting since it'd mean using a SRAM clutch RD but I'm in for solving both 👍 DM me your number and I'll be in touch anyway!
  5. Done and dusted 😎 Did a 15k 'suburb and servitude' test and works perfectly, did have to use a hanger extender to be able to shift to the 46 though! Will do a longer ride Sunday and then it's just to see how the printed 'mullet adapter' holds up over time, I did print it with PETG Of course now the next possibility .... my other gravel bike has a 10sp shifter but with a 9sp XT derailleur, time to make a similar setup but using a 10 or 11sp CLUTCH derailleur 😃 - just need to find one!
  6. "Beam me up Scotty" ... my extensive research, I had a quick 5min look, says it was never said in any of the Darth Vader flicks 🤷 "May you find peace in the promise of the solstice night, that each day forward is blessed with more light"
  7. If I recall the rollamajig just helped to improve shifting, according to some 🤔 .... this device changes the cable pull between the shifter and the rear derailleur
  8. Thank you, as I said above it would appear I was lead to believe it was all simple but it ain't 🙄 The 11sp Shimano does have a different pull as you say but fortunately that gadget takes care of it ... it in fact allows any shifter to any derailleur, with a bit of fiddling of course 😁 ... it's just the size of the little 'wheel widget' inside that changes how much it pulls
  9. That's what I was 'told' 🤔 Now that I read like you it seems its not quite that simple 🤨
  10. If memory serves me right they were normally paired with a 'rapid rise' rear derailleur... took a bit of getting used to!
  11. So have finally got round to testing it on my 'test rig' .... Initially I installed everything without the 'mullet adapter' ... it shifted 2 or gears 'ok' then skipped gears and then came to a halt with about 3 or 4 gears to go Fitted the adapter and lo and behold .... it works a bloody treat, the gaps for each gear are correct and it shifts all 11 gears 😎 - my understanding is that all SRAM rear dérailleurs both MTB and road have the same 'pull ratio' of 1:1 so it means that this 11sp Shimano road shifter will shift correctly with any SRAM rear derailleur Next I'll fit it to my training gravel bike for some 'real world' testing ... sometime this week I hope
  12. Not to be pedantic but each one for 9000 or 2 of them for 18000 each? What kind of conditions were they ridden in? MTB or road?
  13. Nie net die bier nie ... ek se maar net 😎
  14. My wife and I go for the flu vaccination every April especially the last few year's since we're in that 'high risk' group (age and some other health concerns) Hoping it'll help more so this time since my daughter (and her 'fake' husband, long story 😜 ) and granddaughter who currently have the piggy flu live with us ... for now
  15. Seems to be going around ... my daughter, granddaughter and mate all down with the piggy flu
  16. My wife says to me yesterday .... 'you're not lekker in the head' 🤪
  17. Great if you're a welder I think .... but don't mind me 🫣
  18. Time to solve this 'mullet' gravel conundrum and update the MonsterX ... 11sp Shimano 105 shifter, 9sp L2 A5 rear derailleur (the SRAM version) ... 11-50 wide range cassette Let's see if that "mullet" shift adapter (3D printed it) will actually be able to make it work 🤔 #GravelMullet
  19. “Some drink deeply from the river of knowledge. Others only gargle" The cold certainly settling in on the Highveld but Gale at least was calm today 😎
  20. My brother and I did the Monster in 2006 as relatively new mountain bikers ... did a lot of walking and stumbling on that tough climb and I took quite a hard fall on a descent along a fence not to far from the end. Didn't return for a very long time, the emotional scaring was just too much. Almost 5:42:?? of pain and misery 😥 In 2012, yes it took 6 years to get over it, I returned alone, my boet said 'skud jou kop hy raas bietjie' A lot more training, less weight and better skills and very little walking and I had a decent ride, 4:45:00 over an hour better. I felt I had my revenge and never returned. It was also one of the events where I realised that it didn't matter how much tech skills I learnt there was a limit (genetic, mental, life preservation?) to what I was capable of and tried to select events more to my ability Sorry I don't remember anything about the food afterwards
  21. Actually I wonder how those 'cheap' online purchases are doing at 20USD to the ZA rondt .... Like those shoes and helmet you try on at your LBS for fit then order online 🫣
  22. Ma se hare 🫣 A quick zoom into that windsock way in the distance would indicate Gale certainly got up on the wrong side of the bed today! The Highveld certainly not the prettiest in winter ..
  23. Jissis bra, coffee everywhere 🤣🤣🤣
