  1. Yes It's very hard to tell, he might be coming of a 4 week hard training program going up against guy's that specifically trained and peaked for this race. For RadioShack this race would have been a big big goal races and Levi and Horner...like Conto would be in top form....100% on weight and as fresh as can be. Guy's like Basso,Evans,Gesink,Frank and Andy and the rest will probably be 2 to 3kg heavier now than what they will be at the tour so climbing will be a bit slower and harder for them now. We will just have to wait and see...the Tour de swiss and the Daulpine(spelling) will give us an idee of the guy's that time it right. I for One hope Gesink and Basso shows up ready to go and then we will have a race for sure. Would be good to have conto there but if they push him a bit in this final week of the Giro I will be very surprised to see him be there up front in the 3rd week.
  2. Andy will be very much ready for the tour....I would be worried if he was able to win stages now. It’s normal for the GC contenders to only really start showing form in the last 2 weeks before the tour and you will find none of the real contenders will be showing anything at this stage. In about 3 to 4 weeks’ time we will start to see who the TDF contenders are for this year. Conto is a different story because he peaked for the Giro so he has to be on top form....for him the real battle will be to get back to this kind of form in 6 weeks’ time. But I think he might just not do too much in the final week of the Giro because of he's big lead and that could get him ready in time because the 3rd week of a tour is normally the one that breaks a GC rider and now he can actually ride a bit within himself.
  5. Is riding a small 29er??Really a big problem? I am thinking about getting an Mtb again and have been looking at a Hardtail 29er...Previously I had a 26 Hardtail. Both Andrew and Burry are the same height as me and I think them both ride small frames? For racing stage races like the sabiex, what would be better..A sub 10kg 26er or a 12kg + 29er? Want to race in my age cat as competitive as possible??
  6. Wonder how many of the guy's commenting here on her Argus time will be able to finish an Ironman........she did. Also training for Ironman has got nothing really to do with how fast you can do the Argus, there is this little matter of a 3.8 swim before the bike and then a short 42.2 km run after the 180km bike.....wonder how many of the sub 3 guy's would be able to handle that in 3 week’s time??
  7. Face Plant, I think that 10sec per 100m is based on strong swimmers. My experience is that for mid of the pack guy with bad swim technique the difference becomes a lot more. A lot of the really pure duathletes and strong bike riders or runners gain much more from wetsuits being allowed than a pure triathlete with good swimming technique. I would also vote for no wetsuits as it makes the playing field level for the guy's that don't have one and the guy's that work hard on their swimming. Oh and I am one of those mid pack swimmers… Also think that the group starts would be great idea.
  8. Must be, I can't see anybody going that hard for 6hours and not eat anything and drink only water... On my short rides 1hour to 1hour 30 I normally don't take any water. Got use to not drinking that much and now I can comfortably race on 1 bottle(carbs) only. Not using any carbs on a ride totally depends on the type of ride...If you want a good hard quality session you are wasting your time to try and do it on water alone because you just won't be able to do what is required, recovery also becomes a problem if you are totally depleted after a ride. When you eat on the bike and take in carbs it's not always only about that ride but also about how hard you'll be able to go tomorrow.
  9. Nothing really, looks like they will have a discussion on it next week. Did you guy's hear the drug testing guy refer to a top Cyclist that tested positive during the Ammashova? This could be very interesting!!
  10. Any news on the 35+ winner??
  11. CSA's slogan should be....It's NOT about the Rider!!
  12. Agree,as long as he has the option available to him and he can be on level par with the Pro teams as far as equipment go.... On a flat TT if he has a good day I think he will be very hard to beat!!
  13. " 1x Caveman looking for 1x Zipp disk wheel willing to go 430w for 40k. Must be in PE on thursday " Was just thinking, how is it that the 4 x Xterra world champion needs to ask for a Disk wheel on twitter? It should be so easy as to pick up the Phone to the Zipp dealers and tel them...Hey there it's Conrad and I want to ride your disk wheel at Sa TT champs!! I for one hope he gets the wheel and rides one hell of a TT...GO CAVEMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Cyclelab Centurion also sell them, they have a whole new multi sport section.
  15. Is there any Import tax on HRT monitors/Watches? Or do you also only pay the 14% Vat? They have some amazing specials on Polar and garmin Multi sport Hrt Monitors.
  16. The Break said it, under a certain temp and it's compulsory to swim with a wetsuit. This year at Ironman the water was freezing on the Saturday and warm on the Sunday so it can change quit quickly. You can also pick up some very good Wetsuits for just more than R2000.00 like the Orca s3. Check out this website and contact them for some very good prices. www.sportbru.co.za
  17. What gets me the most is the stories these guys come up with!! He did not know, and when he found out it was too late!! Yes, that must be some of the biggest bull**** I have heard from the pros in a while. The whole world saw it, vino saw it, all of the team cars saw it, Contador came right past him...Come on.. And when was too late??he could have stop pacing anytime he wanted and just stayed with Menschov and Sanchez but no he paced like a man possessed...all the way to the finish!!! Man up Contador!!!!!!!!!!!!!You made a choice to go and now you should stick with it, don't come and tell us a bunch of sh$t....just man up!!!!! That's what gets me..not that he did not wait, yes I would have liked it that way but the fact that he want us to believe that ****.....you want to pace your hard out all the way to finish then fine we all saw you go for every second you can get so MAN UP!! What he should have done is get off he’s bike and tell everybody that he is sorry that Andy had to lose time like that but that’s racing and he wants the yellow so bad that he had to go as hard as he can!!
  18. Eldron, Was wondering about this....Is the record for 7 in a row or 7 years in a row?(Contie has done 2 in a row but over 3 years) If it is 7 years in a row then I agree it will be very hard to beat!!!! Also I agree 100% with you on the TDF versus the other tour. The general consensus between riders and teams are that the biggest factor that make the TDF so hard is the speed at which the race is done..this is mostly because of the quality of the top-teams and the riders. You take say the top 50 riders in the world in terms of tour ability and you will find 90% of them would peak for the tour! The Giro does have a harder route and riders like Cadel did admit this year that the quality is getting better every year but he still said it is not up there in terms of effort, especially the flat stages is done at a easier pace in the Giro so the riders get more time to rest for the mountains. Also most teams still use the Giro and Vuelta for their younger riders to get use to the stress of a 3 week tour before they pick them for the tour. As far as Armstrong goes I am glad he came back for 2 years and spiced things up a bit and I hope he can get 1 more podium before he goes. But I will still be shouting for Andy to win this one and I really hope we see a hard tour with 4 or 5 guy’s being up there to take the win right up to the final TT!!
  19. Zeepee and Mackie,I agree with most of what you say... Johan Botha should captain the Oneday and T20 side!! Just one thing is I still think there is a place for Kallis in the Oneday setup, not T20.He's bowling alone should keep him there and with the bat we all know what he can do I think it is just a matter making sure he play's to the game plan. That's why we need to have a strong Coach!! Boucher is very talented but I get the feeling he might have a negative effect on the team.... Smith can also stay in the Oneday side as long as he performs like any other player. Personaly I don't like the T20 game,I think we need to look at it the same way as Sevens rugby,a totaly different side and players can grow from there into the Oneday side or just specialize in T20. Seeing a guy as Talented as AB trying to play moegoe shots like he did in the last game is the reason why I don't like this form of the game!!
  20. You guy's are looking at it the wrong way.....you get to watch a great race and at the same time laugh at the sh#t this guy comes up with.....we canned ouselves last night!! nochain2010-05-11 04:44:44

  23. I am almost certain that as the biggest cycling persona of our time, the last achievement he wanted to reach was to win the biggest fun ride in the world Watch the clip of the sprint finish and see his white clenched knuckles as he grabs his breaks What Clip?? Is it any better than the crap we had to watch on Sunday??
  24. Hehe, looks like it was a bit early still for Lance!!!! Wonder what he thinks about getting up at that time in the morning to do a race..... Nice pick Shaunh!!!
  25. Was amazing to see the whole team pacing on the final day of the TDF for Hunter, still one of my best memories of the TDF.That must have been unbelievably hard for a small team like them to do.......most riders don't even have the legs or the motivation to stick with the peloton at that speed after 3 hard weeks of racing!!!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
