The Trance has longer suspension travel and is a bit heavier (although you can reduce this with lighter components). So the Trance is better on downhill and technical stuff and has a plusher ride generally than an Anthem. You make your choice!
I like these two because they're light and not so intrusive... they just give a single ping which is enough to alert most... and not annoy "sensitive" people. I got mine from Linden Cycles... under R50
I agree, 160 is standard and probably adequate so 180 is already oversize. 203 just adds more weight and is overkill. I run 180 front and 160 rear and I'm 86kgs and do a bit of downhill and find this works fine with XT brakes. One other thing, I recommend using Shimano IceTech rotors, stick with Shimano
Although I've never ridden the Scott... I don't believe you will go wrong with the Anthem.. I have one and a Trance and love them both.. and never had any issues with either frame... Enjoy it!
At the end of the day, research your prices and know what's a decent price. Ignore the smoke and mirrors. You're never going to stop some sellers from performing this practice. I think a worse practice is where large retail chains bring in special 2nd grade stock to enhance their big "sales"
2007 - 2009 approx...Anthem or Trance..26" depending on specs.. you should find something in your budget and you won't go wrong with either. Trance is nicer on technical downhills
This is not something we should allow to happen. Remember Suikerbosrand where the petition helped to stop those charge increases, perhaps another one of those is called for. And yes, where does the income derived from those concerts and exhibitions go? That is a much fairer way to generate income. This is yet another extortionate move for something that we already pay for in our rates and taxes.. like etolls, paying twice over. As far as I know, public parks, and ammenities etc are funded from rates and taxes?
I don't see any problem doing the route you're thinking of during the week. You go under William Nicol, under Rustenburg Road/Victory Park and the others you just wait a bit for the traffic. As far as security is concerned... it's prety much the same weekdays or weekends. There will be two of you (I ride it alone), that helps, just be careful around the Field and Study Centre area, and also below Old Parktonians Sports Club (I'm never comfortable in that area, but I've never had problems) .
