  1. Cool parents that. My parents were of the "took my to see Cats" type. Different vibe (not complaining though!!) Theres a new Muse album: Drones. Its better than 2nd law. But better is a very relative term. I feel like they tried to go back to their roots, but ended in making an album that sounds like a poor rip off from their old work.
  2. My Morning Jacket - released a new album recently . If you watched Ray Donovan recently you might recognise the voice of Jim James. One the other hand - anybody listen to Muse's latest album? Very disspointing...
  3. Had a lot of fun today at Paarl - especially that last downhill! Felt a lot better than last week. Excellent weather and generally awesome atmosphere from everyone! Was heading home via Helshoogte. For a moment I was jealous of all the riders - until I saw the pile up on the singletrack descent / switchbacks...
  4. Oohh thanks for the info...looks awesome!
  5. I've only started following the WC-XCO post- Burry Stander, and I must say it is kind of sad that the people you support and shout for are foreigners. It is also nothing against Buys, Reid etc. but what choice do you have when the coverage focus mainly on the top 16 postitions? Reading twitter feeds or waiting of the full-results pdf is just not as exciting.
  6. I've done the first two in the series and it has been super fun (and challenging) so far. I'm looking forward to the Paarl one! On the seeding. The groups start 2 min appart. It is just to sort out the singletrack congestion issue as per MTBing (but trail runners have way more decency in my experience anyways...) Have a look at the trail results from #1 (Paul Cluver) and #2 (Tygerberg) to estimate seeding/ranking. The C-batch is a good starting point for first timers.
  7. What about hubbers who have never seen an item, have never met you before, but will EFT the amount into your account, and never collects? We need more of these!! I'm looking at you CM!
  8. Yeah you could always back it up with figures, but it's like trying to prove that blue is the best colour. Just because science says its the calmest of colours, doesn't mean that it's everyones favourite. Not the best simile, but you get my point, don't you?.
  9. "Video: Inside look at MTN Qhubeka's race machines ENVE wheels"
  10. I think it was a Pinkbike or similar site who reviewed the Genius - and hey had both setups, but the journalist commented on how the reviewers preferred the 2x10 setups for the hilly rides (think Alps or somewhere). Just my 2c. I'll try my Google Skillz to find the article.
  11. Sense Pro yes I'll give some proper feedback after the the Cape Winter Trail Series. I only got some 5 km of trail in these shoes before the dark and rain came. First impression was pretty good. In short: Light and fast (ideal for racing / training)Tread perfect for SA - hard packed and rocky surfaces. The Speedcross - although very popular in SA - is more meant towards wetter terrain.6mm H2T dropIn true Salomon fashion, it has some lekker cushioning, even for a light-ish, minimalist-ish shoeMy only neg is that they are stiff. I compared them to my brother's Kinvaras and Peregrines - both have a lot more flexibility. Even my burly Salomon Ultra X's have more flexibility. But I guess hope they'll break in a bit over time. If you start to get more serious with trail running I'd definitely recommend these (or the Sense Mantra).
  12. Ja, just wait a few years till the 11-speed Deore comes out. By then it will probably cost the same as the current XTR group due to bike-inflation and everyone will be drooling over the new 5x12 speed XTR group.
  13. I've never given Mizuno a thought - mostly because I don't see them in a lot of shops. I think Sportmans Warehouse stock them but buying shoes from them is like buying a bike from...well Sportmans Warehouse. I never had problems with my Asics, except for the bit where the running pain became too much due to mileage wear - and that was just before the 700km mark. That said, they were entry level shoes. I've tried other models instore and they all fit well - actually the best fitting shoes I've tried. But in terms of terrain, purpose, weight, durability, gait, drop, fit and looks (yes I know) - Salomons have the best to offer for me... till I find something better.
  14. Coming from a 1x setup: the only thing I really miss is the high speed gears, not the granny gears. If you are really worried gear range get a 3x setup.
  15. Those are Salomons
  16. My new racing / training pair http://i.imgur.com/alJDHrC.jpg Trying to give my forefoot some more attention this season. Sorry for the blurry photo.
  17. Med cage derailleur, shifter, XT chain and 42T cassette from R2-bike adds up to R 3061.36. Shipping from DHL is about R 337.15 After VAT on R3438.51 the total is about R3974.91....then you also have to add about R150 handling fee from DHL... so in total: R4125 The equivalent items on a local supplier adds up to about R4400. I can't vouch for the accuracy of these calculations, but I'd rather pay that 6% extra to support a local supplier and know that I'd get faster and better customer service. Now I'll go cry in the corner cause I'm not upgrading anytime soon.
  18. A clean pair of trail shoes is like a clean mountain bike - underused. Only when the mud starts causing a weight penalty, affects the stiffness or the grip of the shoes, or you cant identify the brand anymore - only then do they require a HAND wash (cold machine if you really must). Did you really think a white shoe tail shoe will stay white?
  19. Turning signals are for losers in the WC - no one uses them!
  20. While all the spotlight is on the Tour de France the Tour of Austria seem to go by unnoticed. Not only did Qhubeka win a the Polkadot Jersey today, but Van Zyl had a solo stage victory. Read more on http://www.teammtnqhubeka.com/?p=9719
  21. Specialized selling bikes to the unskilled? Whats new!?
  22. Not at the moment...you'll have to search through the activities of the local athletes or ask nicely for someone to create a gpx file...
  23. Cool stuff! The video doesn't do that rock garden justice though - it's a real rim-killer!
  24. http://media.giphy.com/media/iyMWq8tPfNeiA/giphy.gif They should auction a few bikes at the end of the tour. Though I won't be able to even afford a front wheel.
  25. 'Anyone been to the rockgarden lately? I need a new set of balls to go back there again...
