  6. This is controlled by SANParks and can be purchased at the relevant offices. A current single member Activity card costs you R660 Additional member R285 ...however there is a more reasonable cost option to get up to 4 Riders together and reduce that to R378,75 each One person signs as the main member and adds 3 additional members ...who don't have to be related but SA citizens. Tariff from Nov 2020 · Level 3 – Horse-riding, mountain biking, line fishing and transport (R660) · Level 3 - Additional member (R285.00) so new price will be R378,75 each as a group purchase Permits are valid for one year from date of purchase. Tariff increase Nov 2020 so 1 x R660 + 285+285+285 (4 in total) divided by 4=R378,75 each OR You can Contact Bike park Uitsig/Constantia and enquire about their free service which adds you to a 4x group buy...081 8334466

  9. Hi there Your wild card cannot be used as a cycling permit ... the Activity permit is the permit that must be used throughout the Table mountain rides in the Cape peninsula . However if you enter the reserves with your vehicle...you will need an entry permit. So the Silvermine reserve or Cape point for instance you can use your wildcard/green card to enter and park you will need a day cycling permit or an activity card to cycle. permits for biking the berg. Note that although not currently being checked..outside the reserve areas an Activity permit is necessarily along all the trails Cape point to Signal hill ...the Green belt Tokai does not require a permit. Day MTB permit ............ R92.00..available at Tokai picnic spot with safe parking Level 3/Activity permit ....R625.00 but please remember you have the alternative to do a group member purchase . Additional member ...........R270 The Main member can add up to 3 additional members onto the application and then the permit price can be shared . 4 member purchase.........R358.75 each Activity permits run from Date of purchase for 12 months Activity permits can be purchased at any time of the year. Any questions Ask away. MY Facebook group Tokai MTBike Trail news
  10. "Pass other cyclists on the right with an audible verbal warning. Other cyclists expect you to pass on their right hand side The passing on the right seems to be confusing cyclist on the trail, and not only newbys . It seems we need to clarify Pass an approaching cyclist to Your left unless the trail does not allow this .Passing the cyclist from behind (When overtaking.)..pass to the right and yes please give an audible warning "Passing " or ring bell
  11. If you are going to ride more than 10 times its pretty much a no brainer to join as a member and then have use of the Corridors and have the advantage of joining the rides together.
  12. Having your vitality Points goal Adjusted...My experience ...I have been on the max 900 points for who knows how long and have easily achieve that with 3 mountainbike rides a week with heartrate monitor... Then I was Diagnosed with Prostate cancer and had Brachytherapy. The effects and how much exercise you can do after the surgery is a much debatable topic and at the end of the day you have to except that you will be doing less exercise.biking can be out for 6 weeks - 6 months . Anyhoo if you know you are about to take a knock on your ability to exercise at the current level ,you can appeal to the Vitality active rewards program. They take 28 working days and a bit of prompting to adjust your points. They dropped mine to 600 mmmm I know non cancer sufferers that have a points goal of 100 point s a week.So if you have had a medical condition or procedure... it is possible to get your points total adjusted. If possible try and send the application in before the time if you know you will be having a procedure or a medically affected layoff. (obviously it requires a completed application with supporting documents)
  13. Hi All looking for a Scott 29'r frame ...Western cape.
  14. Got some strange lurgy...swollen glands muscle aches, stiff neck with bouts of the runs...been trying to shake it for 3 weeks riding on flats fine but as soon as i hit a climb...boy o boy legs seize up and sweat like crazy ...on antibiotics anti inflammatories and waiting on the tests to see if its lyme disease.
  15. So whats the Difference between an ali frame and a CF frame...Ask anyone who has carried his bike up the Portage, LOL
  16. I wear a Helmet 100% of the time...over 20 years of mntbiking yes it's hot and uncomfortable at times and yes the chin strap gets seriously annoying. So over the years I"ve fallen on my head a couple of times damaging 2 helmets(requiring replacement) and walked away with face bruises but no head trauma. My wife tripped 6 months back hitting her head on a door sill...It has opened our eyes to TBI.. She has still not recovered fully and still not able to be at work full time. we all have the right to choose what we can and cannot do.... but do you really want to burden your dependents with your recovery time because a helmet doesn't look cool.
  17. So enjoying the new Newlands /Kirstenbosch extension and to date have had no negative interaction with Hikers and Dog walkers....However Have passed a couple of mtbikers going hell for leather down the Gravel trail sections.................................... this can only lead to trouble Reading the Bicycling magazine online review The Wow Rides – Kirstenbosch MTB Trails http://www.bicycling.co.za/training-nutrition/featured-rides/wow-rides-kirstenbosch-mtb-trails/ (section of the article as printed) Take your time, breathe in the fresh air and savour the incredible beauty. Nothing here is manicured – instead, the route follows the natural flow and layout of the existing tracks. There’s a portage section too, and while some will attempt to ride it (nobody has made it down successfully yet) it’s safer and easier to dismount and walk the 100m section. After the portage is where things really start to get tough as you climb your way up to Constantia Nek. The many climbs have just as many fast and furious descents not to mention a plethora of single tracks to keep your heart racing and skills in check. mmmm "many fast and furious descents...not to mention a plethora of single tracks" Which trails are you riding mr Borrill my edits for punctuation and spelling:)
  18. So enjoying this new loop....that rubber mat on the corner of the single track sure works great thanks to the installers. The Steep portage is taking a bit of a beating from guys climbing with bikes on their shoulders wearing cleats.that and an escape route to the Cecilia parking and this trail will be 100%.
