  1. Out of interest, how heavy are you?
  2. Why cant probike give you a temp chainstay replacement until your new frame comes back? They did that for me so I could ride over xmas while waiting for the replacement. That said, I just got my new frame this week so there is a spare chainstay sitting with Crown Cycles right now. Those frames seem to all have the same issue, and Im expecting it to happen on this new frame at some point again. That chainstay is badly designed and doesnt cater too well with the lateral movement from the pivot near the cranks. Seems like that whole area is just waiting to crack.
  3. From Obs, hit main road, ride down to mowbray, then up to the old Windmill. Go over the bridge over the m3 into UCT, Ride up into UCT and through the other side to Rhodes mem. Ride up Rhodes mem to the start of the jeep track and from there you can make your way around to woodstock and up to blockhouse and over to TBL mountain etc. Back along a similar route, or along main road from Woodstock. Nice ride that.
  4. Have to get the cops involved, this could be the perfect opportunity to nail the guys. However if hes on the hub, he has probably got wind of this thread perhaps. Not sure how clever these okes actually are.

    Argus MTB

I was contemplating avoiding this race this year. Cannot stomach another one like the previous two years on a farm that has zero single track. I might be interested again though. this is a nice warm up for the argus the following weekend. http://www.mtbchallenge.co.za/routes/
  7. Dont blame the good herb for humanities lack of skills.. if anything it would have given him the creativity needed to fix the issue.
  8. forums these days are full of keyboard warriors and people with overbiased opinions who like to ridicule rather than assist.
  9. Yeah not worth it unless you are into videography or something. Wife bought me one for Xmas a few years back, was sort of cool, thought I wanted one to record our rides. But ya the novelty wore off quickly, and I soon sold it to go towards some new rims.
  10. Go have a bike fit down with Freewheel Cycology in Kenilworth/wynberg main road. Really cool guys and will make sure you are correctly setup. its essential that the bike setup is correct, all sorts of injuries can happen if it isnt.
  11. which model? Im still trying to figure out why they sent me an entire new frame, upgrade noggal. Not going to question it just incase it gets taken away from me
  12. Scott sent me an entire new Spark 940 frame to replace the chainstay issue on my 950. This is absolutely awesome of them!
  13. if you register for e-tolls, be prepared for the ***. Easy fix...dont register.
  14. LOL - must have won some thread of the year award for that.
  15. Cool video... but way to hardcore for me. No gloves, no padded cycling shorts, no cycling shirts... these okes are insane!
  16. I guess lessons are learnt on the back of unfortunate victims. Cash is king in the second hand sales market, way too many fraudsters. Somebody I know was killed for his car when meeting a prospective buyer from Gumtree. He was going out to show his car to a buyer and that was the last time we saw him alive. Always so cautious with selling stuff online. Your life could be at stake, nevermind your wallet.
  17. Cant ride with underwear. Way to uncomfy. My shorts/bib are still 100's after being washed after every ride, in the washing machine. No tumble dryer though.
  18. Sounds like you had what I had. PFPS (Patella Femoral Pain syndrome) My issue was that my bike setup was wrong (this is the majority of causes). My saddle was too low and too far forward, and the knee was extended past the toe when pushing down. Climbing stairs, climbing hills, going down stairs, squats would all result in a sharp pain on the inside of the knee. Physio pointed out that my VMO muscle was activating after my VLO. The VMO being the stabaliser and without that working properly, the knee cap cant move correctly and ends up rubbing against the femor. Have a bike setup done, and if possible see a physio. I no longer have any pain, and it lasted a good few months. Edit: my cleat position was also wrong which definitely made the issue worse.
  19. Occam's razor...
  20. I bought a small frame 29r for my wife, and I do not recommend this on anyone. Small frames and 29r wheel sets do not work. I suggest a small and a 650b wheel size.

  23. Hiking helps me quite a bit, although I need to be doing something like crossfit, just too damn busy and too much damn travelling.
