  1. Walked through the river after CP3 without shoes or socks. Bit sore on the feet with the rocks, but nicer with dryish feet afterwards.Rest of ride after CP 3 was a bit of a disaster with knee joint pains. Not sure if it was muscle strain, over hydration, tendinitis, too much salt or something else. It was not cramp though. Just over 17 hours with a lot of pushing in the second half. Not sure i will do it again as my body took a hammering this time. It is still stunning riding through the first part of the Kloof though. Pack socks in each crate. It helps. PS watch out for water puddles in the concrete after you climb out of the river crossing after CP3. There is a sneaky deep puddle with a slippery concrete edge that 3 people came down in that i saw. Hurt knees mostly.
  2. Pressure in tyres down to 1 bar.... Check!
  3. Team 287 In yellow beer jerseys. Targeting 14 hours this time. But not sure it will happen. Last time they had no beer at 3 am. Pretty bummed.
  4. Thankfully doing the "nice weather race" then. Please keep it good weather!!!
  5. This is all looking too perfect......... I am getting nervous waiting for the predictions to make a 180 Degree turn. I hope not!
  6. Check also the equipment cash backs/discounts. Mate got a new garmin bike computer which is apparently a good deal on Momentum.
  7. SA Government NHS, much better value for money.

    Rugby...

Getting a draw against the all blacks in NZ???? I think that is celebration worthy, also that it was that late in the game. I don't think it is a walk in the park playing or coaching these days, i think the result was fair, just a pity we did not find the gap in the first half, it was nice watching the attack and defense game from both sides in the first half. Not the greatest ref day either.
  10. 11 and counting
  11. Up to 10 emails so far. Some said thanks for entering, others telling me to enter cos it will be damn awesome!!!!! Sent a snotty response in the unsubscribe. Twice. I was still getting mails after unsubscribing.
  12. Its gonna be cold and awesome. And long, and did i mention cold. As long as its not 17 hours again this time. See u all for sundowners at Bergplaas!
  13. You want to ride two loops..... RESPECT!
  14. ASG as the merch partner? Still waiting to see a forum singing their praises or indicating that they interact with the riding public...... Maybe that's why they don't reply, they have been so busy with this deal....
  15. Haha, i am an idiot. Taking a cycling Fred ad turning into a DJ bashing thread. But on that, I still dig listening to Tony B in the morning, Al My Pal is also cool as is Simon Parkinson on the two stations I listen to.
  16. Great.... Now i have to listen to him at the start of the race ...... again...... Oh joy. The best. Cant wait. Sarcasm off.....
  17. Maybe they can finally make it a 100 km route, but guessing it will be somewhere in the 91 to 92 km region then......
  18. They are cycling the wrong way again? So the old right (or wrong) way after they could not decide which way is the right/wrong way?
  19. Was not an accident, she was just on the jump ramp trying to push her bike back to go on the concrete lintel path. Beginners really must go slowly and check things. Making a trail that is beginner fault proof will be a problem for me. I do not advocate taking the jump away. The only change on this i would advocate is a sign (as previously suggested) with a chicken facing right and a devil on the left (or equivalent). A small sign.
  20. Was riding on Sat morning past "the jump" and saw a woman getting upset about that particular gap jump. Another man was with her at the jump and few other had passed already. Not sure if that was you guys or not. My opinion. It is mountain biking, not riding an a little bubble safe from all outside influences. Ride within your ability (or risk taking confidence), if there is a descent, drop off, gap, turn etc, you should only go as fast as the distance you can stop. There are a lot of Enduro gap jumps and table tops there, the guys ride them and enjoy them. I am practicing them and hope to make that gap jump someday soon. "Developing for safety" means they will have to flatten every lump, bump, root, turn, dangerous bridges under roads etc etc. This is heading towards an extreme that take the exhilaration out of the sport to my mind. I acknowledge that you would like the area to be safe, but trying to make one rule for everyone on a shared park area is not really practical to my mind. Surprised you have not mentioned the path that rides straight into the river where there used to be a ramp to go under Victory and Linden road. That barrier tape has long since gone and the path goes straight at the 3 m drop off into the sloot. That is a lot more dangerous to my mind.
  21. The bottle cage holders don't match either
  22. There is a difference between Yearly points (30 000) and Weekly points. The higher of your daily points (300 for teh hour workout at 70% HR vs 100 for your gym visit) goes towards your Yealy and Weekly totals. When you reach your cap of yearly points then you are done on that part. Your weekly totals still carry on, 300 or 100 points whichever is greater. 3 x gym workouts will be 3x300 (HR monitor) or 3x100 (gym swipe only). No HR monitor means 3x100 points per gym visit only.
  23. Cos THATS how AWESOME the PROTEAS are!!!!
