  1. My thoughts too on the rain. But some of us are hardcore.
  2. Is anyone aware of another attack in the Delta Park this morning. eBlockwatch (i am not a member of this group) reported a stabbed and concussed rider from a group that was attacked by 3 thugs. Heresay until i can confirm.
  3. Surfshark does not work, so not the best from RSA
  4. 19:00 generally works for me, but with injury and travel, i am unsure when i will join. Not gonna be a legend this year.... again.
  5. I acknowledge what the rule says, but it is simply wrong to my mind. How can a player jump up and down juggling the ball while in the air, effectively indefinitely outside the boundary, then decide its time to come back into the field of play half an hour later and claim a catch. I am fine with a fielder launching from outside the field with the ball in the air touching and landing back within the field o play to claim a catch or an assisted catch. But you can not jump up and down outside the rope and claim it is legal. Fair play and spirit of the game should have an overriding input here. I vote for a clarification of the rule which the law makers could not have reasonably foreseen by some athletic behaviour of a smart fielder.
  6. The big talking point is the Matt Renshaw/Tom Banton catch to remove Wade. jack: "Can you clarify regarding the rule, does the player touching it originally need to be in the field of play on first touch or can he go stand in the grandstand/hill and jump and bat the ball as many times as needed till reaches the field? If a team needs 6 to win everyone should be beyond the rope." Here is the detail of when the rule came in. There are lots of comments asking about Jack's point. A fielder cannot start outside the boundary. The fielder's first contact must be inside but the ball can remain live until the fielder is touching the ball with their feet grounded. So a fielder can juggle it a second time or more as Renshaw did provided they started from inside the boundary when they first touched the ball. From cricinfo. I don't care that the law is written VERY badly. What the law says can NOT be the intention of the change. Someone bent the intention of the law due to it being written very badly.
  7. Disagree with top comment from cricinfo. The fielder is deemed to have been grounded outside field of play, once he touches the ground again (after batting ball back into play while in the air) he remains out of bounds. He has not been defined as being within the field of play while he batted the ball. Touching the ground or not makes no difference. imho
  8. My colleague Srinath Sripath has the relevant new law for us: 19.4.2 The ball in play is to be regarded as being grounded beyond the boundary if - a fielder, grounded beyond the boundary as in 19.5, touches the ball; - a fielder, after catching the ball within the boundary, becomes grounded beyond the boundary while in contact with the ball, before completing the catch. Seems the third umpire got it right second time 16.5 1 Laughlin to Qais Ahmad, 1 run, full outside off, he drives to mid on 16.4 W Laughlin to Rose, OUT, Caught and bowled! Super bowling and catching from Laughlin. Clever slower ball, he is deceived, he pops it back to the bowler, Laughlin was following through to his left, he had to stop and dive full length to his right and plucked it in the one hand CA Rose c & b Laughlin 5 (5b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00 16.3 0 Laughlin to Rose, no run, full on off, he drives nicely straight to mid off 16.2 4 Laughlin to Rose, FOUR runs, short ball, clubbed over midwicket! Powerful shot Matthew Wade on Channel 7: "I had no idea of the rule. The umpire's said he could do that so I knew it was out." 16.1 0 Laughlin to Rose, no run, good length outside off, he's back and chopping to point END OF OVER: 16 | 3 Runs 1 Wkt | HH: 102/7 | RR: 6.37 Nathan Ellis0 (1b) Clive Rose1 (1b) Josh Lalor3-0-18-2 Ben Cutting1-0-6-1 peter: "Catch was not legal. Law 32 e:a fielder catches the ball in the air after it has crossed the boundary in the air, provided that after being struck by the bat, the first contact with the ball is by a fielder, not touching or grounded beyond the boundary, who has some part of his person grounded within the boundary or whose final contact with the ground before touching the ball was entirely within the boundary." There was a clause added Peter. I'm trying to find it 15.6 0 Lalor to Ellis, no run, slower ball, on off, he's back and pushing this to cover Kalyanaraman : "@Alex, there was a similar catch by Smith in the IPL (Pune Warriors match), that was disallowed........... did the rule change by any chance?" I'm seeking clarification 15.5 1 Lalor to Rose, 1 run, full on middle, he defends to mid off, they take on the man and get a single 15.4 W Lalor to Rogers, OUT, caught at mid off! What a joke." For those unaware the rule has been changed. Previously that would have been six because he tapped it back without stepping back in but his feet were in the air when he tapped it 14.5 W Cutting to Wade, OUT, Renshaw might have pulled off a ridiculous catch at long on with Banton in support! Wade went long and high over long on, Renshaw took the catch on the rope, he tossed it up as he stepped out, the ball was dropping over the rope, he jumped and batted it while he was in the air, and he knocked it to Banton who was there! Incredible thinking! But the third umpire says not out on broadcast but it hasn't been confirmed at the ground yet! There's a long delay. The third umpire wants another look. He does and he reverses the decision. Wade is out! MS Wade c Banton b Cutting 61 (46b 3x4 2x6) SR: 132.60
  9. Anybody watching the BBL? The wicket of Wade. In no manner can that be out. Will try find video and post it but it is impossible. Nice reactions though to be honest.
  10. Recently had a frame crack and insurer paid out. It is a MTB on the seat post between rocker and BB. I used to bomb it on downhills and loved the bike. I still have frame and as its alu, and i can prob repair it. But I will never ride it the same again, there will always be the niggling thought in my mind, "when will it break again?". If i did repair, i would only ride like a granny on the Spruit, which is a hijack risk now so i would be kinda poked.....
  11. Saw Veebees Garmin in the middle of the road at the rumble strips, sorry was not gonna stop. My bad. Tough ride. Legs were not as strong as i hoped. Could not find a bunch that was at my pace. Kept on having people come past me, but managed a 2:54 which was middle of batch so happy. Even happier after the 3rd beer. Saw the pedestrian at the petrol station next to Hyde Park. Not sure what happened. Condolences to riders down.
  12. Reseeded to C. Suddenly feeling nervous.... Hope the legs hold
  13. Fourways mall. Monte for R10 secure parking and a nice downhill warmup. All good places.
  14. SO come on, its 9:30! where are all the complaints about how long the queues are and how lousy the flyer bag is?
  15. We just need rain. Not hoping for chaos or accidents in the rain. But on the flip side. Protest action might be washed out if it is raining....... Damned if it does, damned if it doesn't. Oh well. Divert ride straight into the cradle if race is cancelled.
  16. Lets hope it rains. I would rather have rain than a dry ride truth be told. Joburg is taking a beating
  17. Found a piece of plastic stuck in my creepy yesterday so check it as. Stopped the diaphragm from operating so creepy sat there doing nothing like me on an uphill........
  18. Also check your assembly where the hose goes into the weir is sealing properly, and that the pressure relief assembly on the elbow into the weir is not sucking too much. Creepy needs good suction.......
  19. 120 000 is a big pool. Like mine, 2.4 m deep in the deep end..... its an old school pool. Sounds like the creepy is not working well as mentioned above. How much flow comes out the nozzle back to the pool. It should be a good solid flow. My creepy works fine under the cover. Had three of them and the only thing is make sure your floating chlorinators do not sit in the middle of pool as the pipe gets caught on them and then creepy gets stuck. Otherwise good advice above. Check the sand is not clumpy and crappy, mine was and took 2 hours to get the sand out. Took sand to the dump.
  20. Its not a fun ride, its a killer fast racing race. Make a statement with your knobblies and do a sub 3. Dont ride with friends, they will just slow you down. RIDE HARD AND FAST!!! Hope that helps.
  21. E at 6:31
  22. To me its better with the climb st the begining of the race. In general a smaller bunch riding from Harties to Magalies. That road is dangerous. I like the school start. Right next to Blackhorse brewery. Well organised and a good race. Hope more people enter. Marshalls good and only one dirty track piece otherwise middle of road had tar. Road Angels were very good helping cars overtake safely. Big thanks to them!
  23. Walked through the river after CP3 without shoes or socks. Bit sore on the feet with the rocks, but nicer with dryish feet afterwards.Rest of ride after CP 3 was a bit of a disaster with knee joint pains. Not sure if it was muscle strain, over hydration, tendinitis, too much salt or something else. It was not cramp though. Just over 17 hours with a lot of pushing in the second half. Not sure i will do it again as my body took a hammering this time. It is still stunning riding through the first part of the Kloof though. Pack socks in each crate. It helps. PS watch out for water puddles in the concrete after you climb out of the river crossing after CP3. There is a sneaky deep puddle with a slippery concrete edge that 3 people came down in that i saw. Hurt knees mostly.
  24. Pressure in tyres down to 1 bar.... Check!
  25. Team 287 In yellow beer jerseys. Targeting 14 hours this time. But not sure it will happen. Last time they had no beer at 3 am. Pretty bummed.
