Let's also all remember that English is not their first language and the translator not always English first either. So reading into their statements is a hit and miss. JL will no doubt be the man to beat. When he's healthy and confident he's the fastest on the planet.
  6. I have used a Wahoo TICKR with Strava no problem. It's BLE. The optical sensor in question here is built into the Garmin watch, not a standalone device.
  7. As per the others the best is to just link GC to Disco. You can lync GC to Strava so your workouts will get to Strava with all data. Incl HR. I'm not 100% but the 235 has optical HR? If so, I would assume it doesn't transmit over BT so there will never be native Strava intergration for HR. The BT on the watch is for GC syncing.
  8. I'm ok with needing HR data to hit the big points. Does make sense. But the 20km/h cycle speed is road cycling bias in my opinion. I only MTB and averaging above 20 km/h can be challenging. I would have thought with all the sample data they had from the end of last year they could have come up with a matrix easily. Clearly got it a bit wrong for Jan.
  9. Currently some of the vouchers are expiring a day early (so Tuesday). There is a process to redeem them. I've had no issues but to be safe I make sure I don't wait until the next Wednesday. At R80 bucks a week saving I'm willing to work through a few niggles. :-)
  10. Can one drop into The Spruit from the bottom of Peter Place Road? I'll be heading down Peter Place and planning on turning right onto William Nicol and dropping into The Spruit by the Pick 'n Pay. Google Earth looks like I can but not sure if there's a fence. *Sorry for the high jack.
  11. $600 USD and that's before the ANC have added their fat !!! Going to be over R12k. And that not even for the Titanium version. #verysadface

The points you earn by uploading data from your Strava account, count towards the maximum Vitality points for fitness. Each adult can earn up to 30 000 Vitality points for fitness each year. Vitality will award points for one fitness event a day only. If you complete two fitness events in one day, then you will get the higher points between the two. Points may take up to two weeks to show on your Vitality Points Monitor after you have uploaded your data from your chosen device or app.
  13. Garmin Connect seems to be the best at the moment. Rode this morning with my wife, she's got a Garmin, through GC, I use an Ambit and sync through Strava (myfitnesspal is even worse). Hers is up and points allocated (3000). Mine, nothing. But my ParkRun from yesterday is now there. Suppose I'm just impatient.
  14. Yip. Did a Blue, Red & Yellow. Let's just say the holiday is over!!! :-)
  15. Heia Safari. Bled from my eye balls !!
  16. Cannot see ParkRun from this morning yet. I did see the New Year's Day ParkRun from yesterday though. Was 300 points and counted for last week. To the guys all seeing 3000 points today, out of interest, what device you using and what have you linked to Vitality? If I log into discovery and go to Exercises, I can see my activity from this morning. (Strava Sync) and if I go into the Vitality app I can see a sync and it shows my last activity as this morning. However. Absolutely nothing in the Active Rewards.
  17. Let's say it's almost the final version. The software team are done and they think it's perfect. They then release as a BETA to the public for real life testing. Once the public get their hands on it there's always a few tweaks and fixes that are required. These are applied and the FINAL version is released. In my experience beta versions are about 95% of the final version. They will work, normally have cool new features but can be buggy. Also and most importantly, most manufacturers will not support BETA versions, it's their way of getting a bit of insurance against unknown bugs in the software release. So no help if you lose history, config settings, stops working completely etc. If you want the latest and greatest and don't mind taking a risk your device hangs mid session then load beta releases. If you want the most stable release and are willing to sacrifice a feature or two always run current or one back from current full version. IMO
  18. Chasing Santa before the kids woke up this morning.
  19. I have mates with both versions. The guys with the sapphire crystals are in much better nic 6 months down the line.
  20. Much Respect. To all that attempted and completed the race. Amazed at the Human Ability.
