  1. Advice please for a newbie.....I started running about a year ago with two 5km runs a week. Sometimes a bit further and some weeks 3 times. Weekends are for cycling.

This past weekend I did my first 10km race and finished with a time of 1:02. I see it as a start somewhere. My question now - I want to become faster - a lot faster. My aim is to do a 10km in 50min by end of January. Will this be possible and what training must I do to achieve this?

  2. Some of these bikes cost the same as a very small car - those I can test drive.

Bike geometry differ a lot and I feel that before I fork out that amount of money I want to at least know what I am buying and if it suits me. My experience is that most bike shops will sell you what they stock not always what is best for you but best for their own pockets.

  3. Well I know my bike is a tool but I feel like crying! There are two light scratch marks on my brand new Specialized frame with one deeper chip mark!!!

I want to know is there anyway I can polish out the scratches and what do I do with the chip mark?

  4. I really liked Ariane, but over the last few days I kind of lost a bit of respect for her - I do not think she is a good team player. She is obviously the better rider between in the team, but I could not once see that she is looking after her partner - unlike Annika that pushes very hard, but always give a wheel (or hand)....remember two years back how she pushed Ariane?

Another thing - from the live feeds the last two days - I did not once see that she helped in the batches, not when they rode with Mariska or with Robyn.

  5. I look very good after my bike.

Would not mind a scratch from a fall - part of the story of the bike.

BUT accidental scratches from laying on concrete, bike rack etc. is something I despise.

I have a custom built bike rack that is so easy to use that our girls can put the bikes on the bakkie in a jiffy - and it WILL not damage any bike in any way. Thanks hubby!

  6. Another question: The main reason for starting running is to train in a limited time during the week. You guys doing cycling and running - how will running improve my cycling? EmptyB said it improved his cycling pace and climbing - what is the rest of your experiences?

  7. I am also a newbie...

Started running in October for the first time in my life, I started run/walk 2km and upped gradually. I can do now 8km comfortable but I am VERY SLOW.

When I started my knees gave me a bit of a niggle, but I think it was the change of exercise.

    My two questions:

    1) I want to run for 3 days in a row, but some advise that I got was that it will only hurt my knees and that I must skip a day. What is your opinions on this?

    2) As I said - I am really slow. Must I just keep doing my (aiming for 10km) till I get faster in time? or Must I try to push myself to go faster? or Must and when do I start doing intervals (as that seems the thing to do to up you speed)?

  8. Accelerate, thanks for the message... really sorry the new Ergonomic padding hasn't quite worked out for you. It's the first complaint I have heard I must say, but I do luckily have an easy enough fix for you and your friends (there have to be some perks to being a local factory). We can either replace the paddings with the old pink ones for a nominal fee, or if you want to order new shorts we can make you up some stock ones with the old padding in? It's your call. Just drop Pieter at our Joburg Factory shop an email (shop@anatomic.co.za) with sizes/cuts etc and he will sort you out. Usually takes around two weeks for a custom stock order.

On paper the new padding should really be the same, it should just be better if anything as the moulding allows for smoother edges and greater longevity, but we don't live on paper I guess... I will investigate further.

Thanks for the feedback and support

    Thank you for the reply.

I will definitely make use of your offer to made up bibs for us with the old padding.

This is what I call good service! Thanks.

  9. As a lady I feel that the anatomic bibs WERE by far the best fit and padding, but recently you change the pink padding to a new red version. According to your office the red padding is only a reverse from the pink - I differ. The red is not so comfortable, much 'warmer' and it feels much more sweaty. It is really sorry as I (and my female cycling friends) will now have to find a new bib that will give us the same comfort as your previous range.

  10. After three weeks on LCHF - 4kg down - a better weekend on the bike - feeling great :D On this stage the most difficult for me is that this way of eating is a whole mind shift! It is totally the opposite of what I/the greater part of the population knew of nutrition. First: fat make fat - busy getting over that statement.... Second: you have to have breakfast, I tried bulletproof coffee and could not get it down, then I tried htone's fatshake with the salt I could not drink it but without it is actually drinkable but now there is no need for breakfast because this keep me full
