  1. I have the s7Assos and did this years 36One in them. All I can say is they are worth every cent. Did not have any shaving or hurting backside after the race. Felt like I did a normal 100km plus training ride. (I don't use chamois cream) In contrast I did my Joberg2c and Transbavian in Craft bibs, and always had some discomfort towards the end of these races. Also thought the price was ridiculous and unjustifiable, but my wife bought me 2 pairs for my birthday and after the first long ride knew actually what the fuss was about. Only use the assos for races or long training rides to try and save them for longer.
  2. Glad you are ok. Hope they can get some cctv coverage of indecent and catch these $&@ers.
  3. Went to Thaba today and did new green route. Some of the new technical turns caught me by surprise, but enjoyed the new more scenic route. Feels longer than actual distance rode. Nice one Wendel. Will try and better time tomorrow.
  4. Will definitely go past overall the weekend.
  5. Welcome back to riding Wendell. Just be careful and enjoy it. I knew it was only going to be a matter of time. lol
  6. Nice work Vetseun. The problem today is that communities don't stand together anymore. It's usually now only individuals, and you my friend deserve a Bell's.
  7. It's a lawless country. Most new drivers don't give a dam about road rules, and then again, neither does cyclest.
  8. Looks and sounds awesome Lexx. However are you not worried about all the land mines still in Mozambique rural areas. These single track would make me very nervous.
  9. I now have done both. J2c twice and 361 once. J2c is an awesome race, with long hard days but always I think manageable. The 361 however is a mind tester, especially after 280km. This is were the pain and determination really starts getting to you. This is a race, or event testing your own strength, and I am glad I listened to past finishers comments and advice as it prepared me for a lot of the unknown. So my personal opinion is 361 is much harder.
  10. I can relate to your frustration. I for the last couple of days have been doing mind preparation. "Will not start fast or follow the crowd the first 36km. I WILL NOT". Hope its work??
  11. Sorry for this frustrating loss. I think I know exactly how you feel. I have 6 bikes, one of them a single speed build up with good parts and components, (don't have half of the slips for this build). I am actually looking at putting all my bikes with Cyclesure through a broker. Had one bike with them and the rest with Myway. The initial quotes I received was already confusing with suggestions of a specific bike only be insured for outside theft or loss to reduce premiums and then contacting them every time I take a deferent bike on a ride. I sometimes don't know myself which bike I am going to use the next day, now still to inform them beforehand? The quotes I have received was done on the price I paid for each bike then, from 2014 to last year. I also am not interested in replacing them with an existing replacement value bike, as the one mountain bike now with the Rand Dollar is new over R130 000.00. That to me is just ridiculous and will not pay premiums for a bike of that value. So I think the best solution for me to prevent my premiums to be a unreasonable each month, is to take this increased monthly amount, and be Self insured. And whatever the loss or consequences are thereafter, so be it. I have had my bikes insured for 3 years now with no claims, and I am not planning to make the insurance companies more profitable for the next 5 years from my premiums. (This is not a gripe against Cyclesure, but the insurance industries)
  12. Sorry did not see the other reply.
  13. Discerm. Put in your shirt back pocket. It is as small as cellphone but flat as a sandwich bag.
  14. Nice reflection of her side. Also shows she is as human as us normal people. Respect for Ariane.
  15. Not sure what you call outside assistance, but I have asked organisers if I am allowed other food from my seconds at these checkpoints, for me checkpoint 2 & 3 and they said it is. I guess if they give you some other clothing this will also be excepted.
  16. Bad luck Slowbee. Maybe just maybe you will feel ok to still ride your race with your wife. She could push you up the hills, and give you encouragement when you need it most. Sort of joking but who knows, if not this race, there will be others.
