    Slanghoek Triathlon

@retied Its not the cr@p that the tri-universe threw at you but the way you kept going which reveals your character. Well done! You won't forget this one quickly.
  3. Suunto uses ANT (Suunto proprietary). Garmin will not read the Suunto belt. Garmin uses an ANT+, an industry standard. Suunto will, however, read ANT+ from any manufacturer. One of Suunto's stupidest ideas. Otherwise brilliant technology. Note that the older T series do not read ANT+
  4. Were there any tandems to try out?
  5. I have heard that wiping a raw cut potato across the lens will prevent fogging. Never tried it. Please give feedback.
  6. Zippo on that website. Not the best choice of date with two other events on the same day.
  7. So Garf you win back your uber expensive seat post clamp, but now it is free. Takes the pain away. Well done on the predictions.

  9. Received this reply RE: Time Freight Heia Safari 1000 - Series 1 Hi Dave Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you, you can swim with a wetsuit. Kate
  10. That SRAM chainring looks rather big!
  11. How about the seatpost clamp? Seems a valuable item.
  12. No reply yet. Will follow up on Monday.

    Shotz

For me: Race Food for training. Really cheap per 100 calories and tastes fantastic.Too dry and too tightly packaged for a race. GU Expresso Love for Race Day. Tell us about the Shotz when you have had a few.
  14. Specialized will Transition your wallet from full to empty! Maybe the high price was so you would cycle faster when angry.
  15. The race is a Midmar qualifier, therefore the no wetsuit rule. I have emailed the organisers and asked if we can still swim in the dam with wetsuits as long as we steer clear of the racers. I said there were a few of us. So maybe they will be clever and create a separate race for us. She has promised an answer by end of day.
  16. Are these swims wetsuit legal? Don't think OWS races allow wetsuits.
  17. I have never found CycleLab Fourways particularly inviting. Whenever collecting race numbers I do have a walk around but there is something about the way the store is laid out and merchandised that just is not enticing. Hopefully the new store will give them an opportunity to change this.
  18. Talk about blowing smoke to make someone think there is a fire. How would you feel if a poster said: If <insert your name> was a paedophile, then we should make sure we don't have him around our kids. Next thing everyone is discussing whether you are a paedophile or not. Not fair. Not based on any facts. Just complete supposition designed to be defamatory.

SwissVan. I am with you on that. But I do the following as a core strengthening exercise which will hopefully stop me bending in the water. 25m back kick with fins 25m back dolphin kick with fins 25m front kick with fins 25m front dolphin kick with fins Repeat x5 By doing only 25m of each type at a time. You don't fatigue as much and are able to concentrate on technique. With the fins, it passes fairly quickly and you don't drown. To me kick is for stabilisation not propulsion.

Admin, please close this thread. Mongoose is making us all feel inferior.

Haha. You okes are clearly in a different league to us mere mortals. 100x100 on 2mins. Madness I tell you.
  23. You don't get this stuff in a supplement. Deliberate cheating. Sanction should be lifetime ban from any elite/licenced competition. After two years he can be back in the Open seeded with the rest of us.
  24. I have a bottle cage cable tied between the bars. The most aero you are going to get. In addition I have a cage on my seat tube which stays empty most of the time. Again shown to be the most aero place for a bottle on the frame - if used. Nothing on the back except a small bag carrying a spares kit. Lightest and most aero solution possible (and the most cost effective). The trick is to learn to take bottles from the volunteers. My bike now rides probably 2kgs lighter than my first Ironman when I rode with three bottles.
  25. Was thinking of doing both. My partner is now starting doing tri's and thought about her doing the sprint on the Saturday. Ridiculous pricing for a sprint (whereas the standard is reasonable). (details were posted in the Energade thread). When okes get stupid greedy, I don't want to do business with them. Rather both of us do the new sprint in VDBL that same day (assuming they finally announce it).
