  1. Which Cape Town route do you prefer?
  2. MTB: agreed - two years ago there were hardly any MTB events on the spring PPA calendar and now there is one almost every weekend which even though PPA denies it, it does pull the road nrs down. Fact of the matter I am also gonna buy a MTB and want to do the Karoo to Coast this year. mdk5552008-02-19 01:41:06
  3. It's a huge pity as funrides/big events are essential for the future of cycling. With all its negatives I do my best to support the rides and associated charities. I also try to do at least one upcountry event I have not done previously but I think part of the problem is that at times it takes longer travelling to and back from an event than it is doing the ride. For the ACT it is quicker for me to cycle 20km home than it is to do it by car. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Based on the above, add some politics, finances, safety, family time and I believe that many cyclists are choosing clubs rides over organised events. On weekend if I do a 100km funride I have to wake up at 4.30 and then only get home somewhere between 11H30 and 13H00. Club ride ? wake up at 6am, at start by 6.30, do 100km and home by no later than 10H30. Sad but true and don?t forget that I am also the founding member of the Cape based West Coast Express.
  4. Welcome to the world of double the fun and pm me at anytime.
  5. A sad day for the double up lovers. He had the best tandem website.
  6. The stoker is supposed to be stronger one with the pilot doing what they do best. The pilot does take some initial extra strain when seeing a gap open and then pedals harder with the stoker following once they realise that a bit more effort is required. The pilot is also the first to ease off when the gap is closed. Same to can be said for climbing hills/mountains. My (me pilot) HR is generally the fisrt to climb but my boet follows suit very soon but most time we seem to be on par the ride.
  7. Spar ladies fun run goodie bag

  15. Yep, we also got it at work from a guy supposed to be working for some goverment department, told us that if we need not trfr the funds in the next 5 mins then we would never see another goverment project and that he would send SARS and and and and to come and inspect our books
  16. Just be aware that we received an urgent call from a fellow from an organization he calls THE SOWETO CYCLING CLUB to tell us that a cheque for R 47 102.00 was deposited into our (Outriders) account in error and that they desperately needed the funds to pay for ????. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Realizing that it could be a scam we told him that we cannot refund till funds clear and that for that amount we needed full committee approval etc As you guessed the cheque was stolen.
