  1. Solomons in Lynnwood had some a while back but then Wynand will also have. I have some Contis
  2. Have I not replied to this thread? Weird! Ok so here's my opinion: Buy the bike with the frame you like the most, if you buy a bike based on the kit bolted onto it and you do not like the way the bike looks then you won't ride it as much as you would if you did. Everything on a bike can and will most probably be upgraded / replaced at some point during your riding life. It is not just about air versus coil forks which you need to bear in mind. You also need to take into account whether or not it is a straight or tapered steerer. This bit is important because if you want to keep a bike for longer than a few months then going with a tapered steerer is more desirable. This allows for easy upgrades in the future. Personally I always opt for building a custom bike over a longer period rather than buying off the shelf (even if 2nd hand shelf). My reasoning for this approach allows me to put the parts onto the bike which I am happy with and also it allows me to spread my spend over the whole duration rather than having to fork out a lump sum. If you need assistance in building a new machine send me a dm and I will get you rolling
  3. Ya, places like Builders and Chamberlains do not stock the bolts you're after. I go to a place in Silverton PTA for all my bolt needs. I will be able to assist if needed. I am in Midrand on Tuesdays & Thursdays
  4. That's the one, very nice set of wheels those
  5. What about the folks with those hellishly expensive hand built wheels based in CT? The name escapes me now. But a set will set you back like R40k.
  6. I have been running my Wahoo on solar for about 3 years now.
  7. Completed my first Tshwane Classic today. The wind was howling at 150km/h (at least - and I am being modest ????). It was fun, a bit far but I enjoyed it, I was soooo tempted to cut through the dirt roads ????.
  8. www.bikemarket.co.za
  9. I also checked and decided to stick with the MTB rather than the road. It's going to be slower but I am way more comfortable on the MTB ????. And also, I sold the road bike this morning ????
  10. I have not gone the surgical route. The surgeon told me back in 2014 or maybe 2016 that a fuzion was my only option. (I saw quite a few surgeons) I had a herniated disc in my lower back L4 & L5. I had chronic back pain for more than 2 years. I could not get out of bed without having to first crawl and then slowly push against the wall. This went on for 4 years on and off. I went to a few chiropractors, physios, GPs for a drip (a few times), a couple of neurosurgeons and then I found something spectacular. Full disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with them and they do not pay me a rebate or finders fee to make this statement: after two sessions with Hans I had no more back pain. Yes, I have had relapses and yes I've had to take some pain medication but every time this happens I only have myself to blame. I get lazy and stop doing yoga and other stretching exercises and then my back gets stiff again. The beauty however of my decision is that I keep myself honest, if my back hurts its because I am lazy, not because someone took a scalpel and cut into my flesh. It is all on me????. The people I found when my only other option was surgery with a 6-8 week recovery in bed is: https://www.stretchingsa.co.za/ Good luck and whatever you decide always remember that it remains your choice. PS: I have since done - 5 x Transbaviaans and a C2T (on my single speed) since
  11. Don't sell the bike because the nipples are breaking, I know how you feel. Allow me to help you to get it sorted. I am not a bike shop and I won't charge you for it.
  12. Unfortunately he has a front wheel (which his bringing back to me ????)
  13. Measure the spoke length and send me a dm. Do you mind the color of the spokes? I have lots of spokes and nipples at home. I am also based in PTA east
  14. Hence why I mentioned to only do the build and take it for a true / tension at the lbs. A lbs charges R400 per build but only R80 to tension / true. So there's a saving at least ????.
  15. What I would do is to replace both wheels and nipples but not by stripping the whole wheel and then rebuilding it. I would replace one at a time but obviously all at once. This way you can klap a diy and then take it to the lbs for a true ????
  16. Hence why it was "another guy" ????. I didn't buy it when he mentioned it but he's quite a big oke so I just let it slide and kept it for when it came up as a discussion on the hea-old hub ????. I personally believe that it is actually the way the Tyre is made, it makes sense that the rubber will come off the woven string first. I don't believe that it is structural or a problem in any way
  17. I heard from another guy that the tires do that because of the ammonia in the sealant. Apparently Stan's is the culprit, he sounded very sure of his facts but I can not confirm nor deny that this is in fact true ????. Although, mine does not look like this and I do not use Stans
  18. My 2 dead presidents: the mech who built the wheels over tensioned it. Wheels only crack like that if the load are too much ????.
  19. I think it will work, and if it fails then just rivet it again ????
  20. Why not just use a Pop rivet? I mean at the end of the day you don't have much to loose
  21. I think it's hogwash ????. Doubt they'll check every cyclist ????
  22. Thank you for the tip ????. I just heard: My road bike may be sold before the race ????????????????. 112km on a mtb may be quite slow going ????
  23. Gonna be my first race on a road bike ever. I'm moving over to the Dark Side for a few days ????
  24. I would also like to know, I currently have a Polar which doesn't sync with the app anymore and they just tell me to uninstall and re-install the app on the phone and clear the cache. This is annoying as I have to do it every day when I try to sync, so now I just plug it into the laptop. I wanted to get me a 530 but now I wonder
