  1. Is that because their price is better than M6120’s or they perform better?
  2. Get a trail hardtail. Try buy second hand, after a year you can decide which direction to go. If you sell it you’ll get similar for what you paid (if you bought wisely). You’re at the beginning of your riding journey, nobody can tell you which direction you’ll end up going. Also want to add, get a good fork and set it up properly. Something like Rockshox pike/lyrik or fox 34/36, the base models are fine. Ride with flats (and proper shoes) for the first year! Do a trackstand every time you get on your bike. Learn to bunny hop and jump properly.
  3. We used the yellow feva seat at around that age. The child seems quite safe in that position between your arms. They can see easily and get a feel for speed riding with dad. Worked very well for us.
  4. If a seller only wants to sell based on collection in person, cash only, eft only, etc. It’s their choice surely. They are limiting their market size though. As long as they’re polite about it, I don’t think they deserve a 1 star rating.
  5. Agree it's a red flag. Simply just don't buy from them and if you think its dodgy use the report ad button under the item description/specs. I don't think a 1 star review is needed.
  6. That's great news! Will give it a go tomorrow. I assume the bees moved out during the fire? Cobra next please 🙏
  7. This is such a solid option. Nothing beats a set of hand built wheels. Get in touch with @nick_the_wheelbuilder
  8. I successfully rebuilt some Shimano calipers using a compressor to get the pistons out. If you go that route, put a rag in between the pistons so they don’t smash into each other and break when they pop out. There are guys running shigura set ups (shimano lever, magura calipers) give it a google, never tried it myself, but the guys seem to really like how the set up performs.
  9. If anyone is looking for a bike for their child from 5 to 8 or so. Check this ad out. We got this model bike when my son turned 6, my 5 year old daughter is now riding it. We paid close to R10k and at R3.5k its a really good deal. Its light, clicking gears not the twist shift that the kids can't turn, hydraulic brakes and solid geometry. Disclaimer: I don't know this person selling the bike! Just spotted the ad. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/kids-bikes/823122/merida-matts-j-20-inch
  10. We went from 20 to 26. I was always planning to get my son a 24 inch bike, but then a couple of months before his 9th birthday, his best friend who is the same age got a 26 inch bike. They ride together every week, sometimes twice a week. Bike size is super important, but enjoying riding your bike is even more important. I knew that if we went 24, his friend would be rubbing his bigger wheel size in his face. Because lets face it how many times do you hear kids saying what size is your bike. Anyway, super happy with what we got him in the end. Its a great bike with 67 degree head angle, found a fox 32 on the hub, a dropper and he absolutely loves it. He was about 135 cm when he turned 9. I reckon 128 cm is on the lower end of the 26 inch size though. I took this video last weekend (so about 9 and a half years old), its the first little jump after the berm as you start mamba in Tokai. 11. Classic: H350NCD9R24SA7095S Straight pull: H35PNCD9R24SA0143S Disclaimer: DT's site seems to be down this morning, got these from a bit of digging around and not from their official site
  12. I used this search technology you mention, but back in November last year I couldn't find the one I was after. If I remember correctly there is another/previous version that was easy to find. Share the link for @Rick-bike and others.
  13. I was trying to help out a buddy, he ended up not being able to get me the part to measure and draw, he was in the process of emigrating at the time.
  14. Another happy Enduro Wax user here. I have a cleaner drivetrain, longer lasting drivetrain, quiet and saves those precious watts! Thanks @MTB SA !!

  19. @Lindi Magnus check this bike out... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/kids-bikes/806221/merida-matts-j-20-20-inch-wheel-mtb We have the 20+ version without the "suspension" fork and with the wider tyres. really excellent little bike
  20. At 5 years old, maybe look at a 20 inch. My 5 year old just got her brothers 20 inch and is loving it.
  21. So was doing a caliper rebuild on a Shimano 4 pot. Was a bit too relaxed about the process and wasn’t being careful when removing the pistons. Applied compressed air to one of the ports and didn’t have a rag between the pistons. The one piston shot out hit the opposite piston and shattered. Soooo anyone have a scrapped caliper lying around or a piston? It’s the smaller piston I’m after.
  22. Anyone perhaps have a spare Shimano piston from a 4 pot caliper? I’m looking for the smaller piston. Broke one when doing a rebuild. Or even a scrapped 4 pot caliper would be good, don’t mind salvaging the piston myself.
  23. Hoping to do a mtb ride in the George Knysna area next week. Best spot Witfontein? Any other recommendations? More trail fun than xc preferably. Is it safe to ride alone around these parts?
  24. How do you view someone’s profile on the classified side of the hub if you click on their profile on the forum side and vice versa?
