  1. Done! ????
  2. It was a very dreary sunrise until suddenly:
  3. I am sure that the stats don't exist, but it would be very interesting to compile a list cyclists injured or killed by motorists. I imagine that the vast majority of the cyclists were taken out while just riding along. I know that I was. My wife was too. Lights front and back, on the left of the road (inside the yellow line if there was one). Not riding two abreast. Not jumping traffic lights or stop streets. Not doing all the things that irritate other road users. And I don't just mean here in Cape Town or South Africa, but around the world. The UK, Europe, Australia and the US all have websites reporting this kind of stuff. It's a world wide issue. Some places are better than others, but we are not alone here.
  4. Makes my blood boil ! I hope the rider is in better shape that his bike. Wow. Where and what time did this happen? Edit: Well done for getting the car's details
  5. Do they even have R50k worth of product in stock at the moment ? ????
  6. That sounds like a giant really big mess
  7. Ah yes, the dibs system. Legally binding and all that...
  8. There seems to be a well used route up to the Block House on the CBD side. I havent zoomed in on Strava to see where they come up. But there is no (legit) access from the Rhodes Mem side that I am aware of.
  9. What Trek have you got and what attachment were you advised to get ? And what kind of rack do you have now ?
  10. Having gone down this route over the years, we settled on the Thule Velo Compact 3. I wasted a lot of money buying and selling a Buzzrack and then a Menabo while trying to be cost conscious. My wife can carry the Thule out the garage past my car without dinging anything, mount it on her car and attach the bikes on her own. Its lighter, simpler and easier than the other options. My only regret is that we didn't do it sooner. Perhaps the BoatsSA one is as light and easy as that at a great price. I haven't seen one 'in the flesh', so cannot comment. Having said that, you also get basic and fancy Thule racks... The Buzzrack and Menabo racks we had were heavy and a real pain to mount on the towbar. One of them couldn't tilt, so wasn't great when we had to get into the boot. I cant remember which one, but the fixings of the bikes were silly. All in all, they were only slightly cheaper than a Thule, but were much more expensive in the long run. Edit: I was going to suggest looking at the Westfalia range, but then saw their price
  11. Thanks Now I have to wipe my lunch off my screen ????
  12. Then 'please update your flipping ad' is a good response to that ????
  13. I always answer because I see it as part of their online window-shopping process. If they respond to that, then we flesh out the details as the conversation proceeds. What makes me grind my teeth is the 'will you accept less than 50% of your asking price ?' with no howzit or intro even a name. I feel more inclined to ignore, respond with a middle finger emoji or a 'no' , if I am in a good mood. It takes a lot of patience to respond with a reasoning on what a reasonable offer might be. That did eventually lead to a sale, but the guy short paid me by R50 because he 'misread my message'. It seems that general politeness and manners in short supply out in the market place. There is no dinner and drinks before you get screwed.
  14. Do you mean that Jack Parow is actually Elvis ?
  15. Do you mean these guys near Hermanus ? https://mikrocoffeeco.co.za/ I have bought their coffee twice (and loved it) and visited them when in the area - lovely people. Very passionate about their product.
  16. Rog gets a bit of bling too

  19. I thought that the pro's had to ride in their team kit https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/chris-froome-mistaken-for-leisure-cyclist-on-french-television-news/ Also not the first time he has been mistaken for an amateur rider ???? https://www.instagram.com/p/BlqYeNHBDAX
  20. Does anyone have any details about the hijacking in Woodstock yesterday morning ? Like what time and where exactly? https://bikehub.co.za/stolen-bikes/1779/cannondale-scalpel-si-world-cup-2020-scalpel-worldcup-size-medium-2020
  21. Any word on availability ? Not that I am in the market to buy, but all these beautiful product launches with no stock of (almost) anything feels frustrating. A whole ton of interesting questions and comments here: https://bikerumor.com/2021/08/10/sram-xplr-gravel-group-debuts-rockshox-fork-dropper-wide-gearing-moto-wheels/
  22. Sounds interesting. Warranty support on the frame is one thing, but many local distributers wont touch any components (brakes, drivetrain, tyres, wheels or suspension) that have been imported through grey/parallel channels. So would this theoretical brand distributer cover warranty on all parts of the bike ? Perhaps a frame only option would be better/easier to operate. Much like the guys who are bringing in carbon frames etc from China.
  23. I think that is the starting point for any good cup of coffee. The best equipment and barista in the world cannot compensate for stale beans
  24. Seems like its internally routed from the RHS of the downtube and up the seat tube. https://fullsus.co.za/how-to-fit-a-dropper-seat-post/
  25. Stay tuned for the next episode of Pimp my Grinder! ????
