  1. Over 250 comments in this thread and now you call for calm. That ship has sailed The excitement around this event is awesome. The Jonkers trails have been packed with people scoping out the trails. The practising, pre-event banter, and Strava flexing is almost as fun as the actual thing
  2. I'd suggest removing your phone number from the description of the advert so that only Bike Hub registered users can access it. Yes, it's a small deterrent but it helps.
  3. There are also lots of rivers with delicious mountain water. But, ya, the car park isn't far away either EDIT: Ah, I see that the streams had already been suggested
  4. You can contact the seller to point out their mistake or report it to us. We've got plans to try to include clued up members of the community in moderating such reports.
  5. Rather post the phone number here in plain text. That way people using a search engine will find it easier. Also report it to OLX. Their report button is below the map on the advert page. Further digging: Here's the advert: https://www.olx.co.za/item/wahoo-kickr-power-trainer-iid-1060381103 He/she has taken the photos and description from an advert listed on Gumtree in Australia five days ago.
  6. If in any doubt, step away. There will be lots of other Kickrs. Summer is coming!
  7. Dealers (who pay to list) have the option to turn them off. Going forward, we will be removing comments for all adverts. Digging through the numbers, they aren't widely used. We've also received a lot of feedback about comments being confusing, so we'd rather people enter a more direct channel of communication.
  8. Damn, entries have closed already Edit: Aaah, coming in from another link shows that it's sold out.
  9. And Hatherly is on the start list too. Number one ranked, if I understand the list correctly. Does the winner get a rainbow jersey? Been a few years since Minnaar last won us one of those.
  10. Silverback had their 279 range back in 2015. There must be someone still on one of these?
  11. This. I've ridden the XT version and was very impressed. The SLX version is fundamentally the same, but cheaper. That said, the other options mentioned will all be a nice upgrade from the Tektro.
  12. I fixed your prejudice for you.

  14. Hi Wik I tested a similar product. The in-between magnetic system is a bit gimmicky. As a transitional tool, it might help for a few weeks but after that, you're either going to want to be completely free on flats or tied in with clipless. I feel that you might as well pick one and go straight to your end goal. Whether to switch to flats or not, flats certainly do force you to unlearn many bad habits you might have picked up from poor technique using clipless but there's also no reason you can't learn the correct technique with clipless. I built a cheap bike to learn to ride flat pedals on (basically just wanted to do little bunny hops and jumps) so that I could remain clipless on my main bike. What I learnt on the flat pedal bike definitely improved my clipless riding.
  15. If woke originated from a typo, then yes ;-)
  16. Don't forgot to make your substitutions today! I'm in the same boat
  17. It's all explained here: https://fantasytour.bikehub.co.za/about
  18. No, they have not announced it yet. Traditionally they are one of the last teams to do so.
  19. The organisers have plans to improve the final 5 kms Starting and finishing in the historic Overberg town of Swellendam; the full distance route takes in many of the region’s most spectacular sights. The rolling gravel roads cut through the emerald green wheat fields and canary yellow Canola blooms. At the 100 kilometre mark the race crosses the Breede River on the country’s only remaining hand-drawn ferry. Before embarking on the Malgas Ferry riders will be able to refuel, enjoying a 45 minute neutral zone, on delicious roosterbrood – hot from the fire. The final 60 kilometres return to rolling hills; which the locals know as die Rûens, for the hills’ appearance like a series of backs stretching off towards the Langeberg Mountains. At the foot of the mountains the finish line awaits. As one approaches it the vegetation becomes greener, lusher, better nourished by the rain clouds which bank up against the high peaks above Swellendam. In previous years the final few kilometres have failed to live up to the splendour of the rest of the route. Not so in 2019, thanks to Swellendam Municipality. “We are thrilled that Swellendam Municipality have agreed to road closures in town, which allows us to provide a fitting end to the Chas Everitt Around The Pot - Overberg 100Miler - Presented by SEESA,” Rudolf Botha of Petrichor Adventures enthused. “The final five kilometres now take riders through town, showcasing some of the historic Cape Dutch architecture of Swellendam and providing an easier run into the finish at the Swellendam Showgrounds.”
  20. I absolutely loved this event last year. Glad to read the reports echo the same for this year.
  21. Nice one guys! How do they decide on the series second place if you both had matching results? Sudden death wheelie competition?
  22. It's an interesting way of using the classifieds and it's great to get feedback on this. For usability reasons, we don't think the current platform really suits doing this. So for now, we'd prefer that sold items are removed so that active buyers and sellers don't have to trawl through or compete with irrelevant adverts. We are working on a sold mechanism to more efficiently remove these adverts. The first version of this should be out later this year. Initially, we're hoping it will help flush out sold items that are often left active (to the annoyance of potential buyers) but the final goal is to start collecting and displaying market value data at scale. One problem with determining the real value with our current system is that the listing price isn't always the sold price. So we need to encourage sellers/buyers to share that information after concluding the deal.
  23. In that case, I've taken the liberty of removing the advert listing for you
  24. Ashley's race report is up: https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/articles/ride-reports/race-report-sram-wc-xco-series-in-association-with-tygerberg-mtb-club-3-zevenwacht-r7817
  25. Sorry for the long drawn out story but here goes: I rode my bike, I smiled, I got dropped, I sweated, I sweated again, I finished. It felt good!
