  1. Half the beach is on the promenade. Doesn't help…
  2. Ive trimmed mine as small as it will go…but it’s still coming off and into my pocket as soon as im through the gates lol.
  3. New mk4 has been fine (touch wood), although wheel builders seem reluctant to tension them up too much due to their older siblings bad reputation for cracking lol. So difficult to say i guess.
  4. Yes, a plastic one! (ps: I've actually had it for 4 months now..time flies when having fun right)
  5. Ive found all the bits between two or 3 online stores here in the cape, which tells me that silly aircon business must have brought some in at some stage
  6. This gives me an pseudo-OCD fuzzy feeling in my naughty place…
  7. Thats nice. I imagine that's a faceplate sitting in a channel in the frame? As in when removing you are not just looking at the i side of the downtube. Then on the back it, or in the channel you would have clips holding the hoses/cable housings in place. Thats how i would do it anyway. Best of both worlds.
  8. Like those who dont know that sram transmission (shifting) is basically linkglide but in AXS format 😅. Still they’ll want GX mechanical though because marketing. Im with @BaGearA, my next groupo on my big bike will be xt linkglide (if i can find some ofcourse)
  9. I know this trick, doesn't make it any less of a ball ache though. Especially if there are internal ported sections that wont take foam. Anyway, i got mine quiet after 3 weeks of it sounding like a sack of bolts. And it sounds so much worse inside carbon. I also just still don’t like the fact that i have to cut a brake hose if i wanted to tinker with parts (which i do a lot)….or bleed the rear brake property without mounting the bike in some kind of akward position😅
  10. Nice, clean looking machine, also nice to see a bit more of a restrained, minimal approach to the branding on the bike. It says Titan Racing now, not TITAN RACING HELL YEAH!!!!!!! Nice.
  11. Screw that, why would you haul an extra 20g of dead weight👀
  12. I ‘avoid’ riding my hardtail too much…it keeps on reminding me of the amount of money i waste on suspension for my big bike. Im not really that much slower on it either👀😅
  13. 30mm works perfectly on everything down to 2.35 ish. As mentioned earlier, smaller and yo’ll start squaring the tyre off too much. Nobody runs 650b+ or 29+ anymore so the recently discarded ‘sub-fat’ standard of 2.8 -3.0” means there aren't many reasons to run anything above 30mm ID either. 35mm+ ID rims are a remnant of that.
  14. The bike board is thankfully zip tied on, but you could if you choose to collect the wayfinding sticker on your top tube incase you forget which direction to go🤣Ive seen bikes that even horde those Anyway, im not judging. Thats what makes it a cool event, it means so much to people for different reasons. For some, that sticker collection is a badge of honour when they take their bike and helmet out the garage once a year. To that, i guess if i manage not to explode this year doing it on a single speed, this one would also mean more to me than my others…regardless of the time i do. To many it's about conquering the challenge of an ‘almighty 100km’ lol. Go around the office and talk to people, 100km to avarage joe is like the Munga to most of us. Seems impossible. Ps: hey I said Munga… You better be going around telling people you are doing a 1000km bike race later this year @Jewbacca
  15. My OneUp v2 just cost me R350 in parts to service myself after a year of not really caring for it that much. Didnt really need it, just thought id spoil it haha. I agree with @BaGearA. I also own a Bikeyoke revive from 2020. It has never been opened, still works flawlessly. That self bleed valve business is the best thing ever and it literally takes longer to take your multitool out to do it. if I had to ship something somewhere to get it serviced i’d bin it😅 im also of the opinion that if you run something like the lyne ones you can almost run it in its moer for 2 years or more without servicing and just buy a new one. They are basically cheap enough.
  16. Mine always ‘accidentally’ gets torn while in the chute but i always put it in my pocket as proof that i tried. You cant control when a shirt hooks it? 👀 People are very inconsiderate in there. It only matters if you want piktjas i would think? And for the tannie at the entry to the chute
  17. I hope not, the stress of finding a needy person on the way to the car is just too much….and the shame of just chucking all that soon to be expired stuff it in the bin if you don't is unbearable (for 30sec)
  18. Ill use the maxxis minion SS as an example what happens when you put a tyre designed for narrower rims on a 30mm internal rim (from experience) It squares off the profile just enough so that you end up running on the side knobs too, rather than just the faster rolling centre ones, negating any of its supposed benefits as a semi slick that corners great. It ends up having a very floaty feel and also sucks in corners as the side knob is not pointing in the direction it is supposed to. Yes narrow tyres will fit wider rims, and look fine, but that doesn't mean they end up working how they were designed to. 2.1-2.2 XC tyres = 25-27mm internal 2.4+, 30mm+ rims.
  19. Mentioned up top by Nick. All great suggestions, (don't forget Banhoek Afterburn for flowey jumpy fun) but i mean most of them arent exactly a quick pop out to the local trailhead from Hermanus😅 we are spoilt this side of the cape.
  20. Same here. Polar h10 = gold standard as far as I am concerned. Im nearing 5 years on mine too. Only 1 battery swop.
  21. Those ‘performance line’ ones without the color stripe also have literally 0 protection against punctures. Just a polite warning 😊 they sell them at sportmans warehouse too for reference. Should be fine for road use though, just don't think about doing any XC-duro’s on them though. You’ll destroy them on the liaison to the first stage….
