  1. What a way to start the week-end, proudly COLOURED and Just love the way our opposition thinks about us "lesser persons" in their minds. BEWARE the swart gewaar after the world cup when we mess this country up further to prove to "you" clowns WE CAN. Better you start canvassing for all the votes the DA can garner before the local elections come 2011.
  2. Any news on the appeal of MTN(Ian)?
  3. No need to split the races all that is required for the Elites to have a longer circuit than the rest of the bunch, to ensure there is no congestion at the end when the Elites come in they start after all the funriders has departed which will also give the funriders the opportunity of watching the Elites finish their races.
  4. There is no interest from the race organizers to increase the distance for the Elites all they want at the end of the day is the profits milked from the funriders. Good example is the Dome 2 Dome changed from 116km to 95km sorry excuse of road conditions. Sad fact is CSA is doing nothing to get the organizers to increase the elite race distances hence they get away with it. Simple suggestion to CSA get these organizers to increse the elite distance or pay a premium equal to 50% of the profits generated from the event. CSA themselves should be hosting at least one event per province during the calendar year which will generate the required funds to keep the races going and NO you do not need to appoint an events company to run these race when you have able people within the provinces to partner with and forget about the VIP hospitality area as they munch all your profits.
  5. 8 bikes jacked on Saturday, maybe in between that lot?
  6. Guys please stop mentioning Nolan as a "Development rider". He never was and never will be he is where he is because of pure talent and hard work just like most of the elite riders. He admitted to been stupid(doping) and is paying the price therefore. The development Noland has received comes from the pockets of his family and friends back home.Eugene and Barry has a lot to do with Nolan and his status as a cyclists as well, not to mention his relationship with Dean as well.
  7. Groot Lem has nothing to do with this issue leave him be, focus on those not doing their part for cycling yet they fly to and fro at the expense of the cyclist and shout the odds.
  8. So sad one black diva upsetting so many white ego driven males all because she dared tread on their ground.
  9. Check your sports medicine manual(available from drug free SA) if the products appear on them get doctor to state why you need them and not an alternative and file with local cycling body to do the rest.
  10. Based on this statement she had gone the simple route first "She contacted the store through her lawyers, demanding a retraction of the advert, an apology and R100,000 to be donated to charity. ?They treated my gesture with disdain and disregard,? she said." We will never know how the Lab lawyers responded hence the action now
  11. Note to all: Please notify your sports body if you changed your Asthma pumps and make sure your excemption certificate indicates the new product in use. From the little I know it appears to be a simple Asthma medication mixup. Let's blame this on the Malema factor No need for the racists to come out of the woodwork and start pointing fingers once again.
  12. What the bloody hell one would have thought after Nolan the guys would stop taking chances, anyway until official notice I think this is a red herring. Nothing on CSA site. Groot Oom any news on this
  13. Wonder if the negative comments would have been posted if it had been Minkie or Patricia Fact is Batsie make a ton from Top Billing alone nevermind her other interests. Integrity is what counts, nobody knows except the salesperson(took the photo) and Andrew whether she gave permission for her photo to be used or not.
  14. At least we now know where our subscriptions and development money as well as the repayments from Gail will be going. I bet every exec meeting will be fully attended and hopefully some constructive work will be seen in the near future.
  15. My club hardly gets by on the small donations we receive now and then, we cannot afford such sums of money. Instead of CGC paying themselves for volunteer positions to attend meetings(R500 per meeting per exec member now we know where you subs goes to) they accepted why not donate that money towards some signs.
  16. So 16 May you have MTB race at Avianto and interclub road event at Riverstone +- 1.5km apart on same road. very interesting morning.Hope Cradle res. are awre of two events at once.

  18. Shoot the F**&^%ers, at least this way we got rid of the scum for now on Ondekkers road. bet someone will replace them now that winter is on it's way and more riders go out on their ownin the morning, Saturday morning at 04H30 lone rider going down Ondekkers and two more on their way on HP around 05h10.
  19. We all know how much PPA does for charity yet they "PPA" cannot and will not do what Comrades does every year with regards charity for their cyclists.Comrades gives back to the running community and people who support road running. Besides the organizations they give financial aid to they set-up a runners village for the athletes who otherwise would not be able to run the race. 160 runners from all over the country who can prove their income is less than 3000-00 per month gets driven down to Comrades hosted over four days with food and accommodation provided and driven back to the homes towns after the event. Not to mention the fancy goodie bags they recieve last year it entailed Nike branded T-shirt Running shorts socks and a peak cap.
  20. Some people are missing the point here, we not interested in what value the TV coverage or other sporting codes do. What is of importance in SA cycling is the relative prize purse versus the entry and sponsorhip of the event. Argus +-11.5 Million income with less than 200000-00 prize money does not add up. Focus on these facts. I know Malcolm looks after his team quite well and the prize money is an added bonus to the personnel involved on the day.
  21. The question to be answered is: WHY MUST THE RACE ORGANIZERS WALK AWAY WITH +- 3 T0 4.5 MILLION NET PROFIT AGAINST WHAT THEY HAND OUT AS PRIZE MONEY
  22. Want to see how good AM is come down to the Panorama Tour and see him play to the tune of the hills and everyone else in the race, no matter who his partner is he still plays the field evenly and allows for some hard words to be exchanged amongst his peers whilst he gets the job done. RESPECT TO AM
  23. Your Entry Fee into the 2010 Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is R270. The breakdown is as follows: R 232.50 + R 32.50(VAT) + R5 (CSA rider levy) = R270.00 This goes some way to cover the actual cost of putting each cyclist on the road ?Registration process and year round Race Office to service your Cycle Challenge needs ?8km of fencing to keep the roads on the route closed ?4000 straw bales to keep the roads on the route closed ?3400 orange cones to close the route one block away from the route ?600 marshals ? who need to be transported and dropped off at their points from 03:00 and picked up from 15:00 ?400 JMPD Traffic Officers ?300 toilets at the start/route/finish and 30 janitors to keep them clean ?300 security staff on route and at the venue ?200 medical staff on route and at the finish ?170 Physio and Chiro students and 12 qualified Physio?s and Chiro?s on route and at the finish ?120 Start Marshals - Start Team ?120 Finish Marshals - Finish Team ?35 Joburg Roads Agency staff to place and pick up the cones ?30 Traffic Free Flow officers to direct traffic ?30 Off Road Rescue Units who patrol the route, send communications to the Joint Operations Centre and sweep cyclists abandoning their ride ?25 Think Bikes patrolling the route and trouble shooting ?20 Sweep Vehicles with trailers and drivers ?20 bakkies to transport the 100 casual staff who physically place the fencing and bales in the intersections to effect road closure, from 00:00 ? 06:00 ?10 Water points with Energade, water, ice, toilets, rubbish bins and 50 support staff per point ?8 Megabus busses to assist with the sweep with drivers and route leaders. ?Generators - providing power for lights; sound; catering at the Start and Venue ?Route cleaning and recycling of waste. ?Feeding and watering of all the staff mentioned above ?Race number and race pack ?Commemorative Medal ?Goody Bag at registration ?Ice cold Energade and water at the finish ?We allow for 450 complimentary entries to previously disadvantaged communities, the physically disabled cyclists, mentally disabled cyclists, blind cyclists and we support the Fortune Seven Cycling team ? who last year all finished under three hours. As one can see this seems to be a huge amount of money that needs to be raised to host the event yet nowhere will they give their actual income they receive for the event from all sponsors and entry fees Most of the water points are sold to the companies manning them as well, nothing is actually given for free even the food sold at the finish area comes at a huge cost to the vendors. 2008 I hosted my club tent on the main road outside the finish area and had to deal with endless harrasment from JMPD and the health dept because I was advertising my sponsor of the day "NANDO'S', simply because somebody on the inside never received financial benefit from us.
  24. Two years ago 94.7 published a list of their expenses and it looked like they were actually subsidising the riders yet what they did not give was their income from the entry plus that of all the sponsors to be published as well then one would have got the true race value. When the race organizers walk of with around 6.5 million in profit it says something about the cyclists been their cash cows this after they have handed charity their share.
  25. Argus entries +-38000 cyclists prize money first place R16000-00 only!!!!!!!! Two Oceans +-8000 runners prize money first place R150000-00(R2 Comrades +-22000 runnersprize money first place R250000-00 What does cycling organizers do with all the entry fees and sponsorship raised for their events if they pay such pathetic sums to our best rider on the day? Their expenses does not come close to that of either road race mentioned so they cannot use that as an excuse.
