  1. Thanks. I'm doing a duathlon in Potch on Sunday, so won't be running. Will let you know when we go for a run again.
  2. Where's the nearest flat stretch of road? About 10km or even 5km with a turnaround. Want to use it to measure progress in fitness, intervals etc. Botha Ave does not count, cause it's not flat.

    Commuting to work

You shouldn't do that. I had my first commute last week. 35km one way. Will have to get used to it, but it was one of my best rides in a long time. Very enjoyable.
  5. Didn't hear the whole thing, but a lady called in yesterday saying het old and windgat and a drol and that he should be removed. Seems that they're gonna deccide this weekend, but he's obviously not happy
  6. cyclesure R50k R20k around R450
  7. Only found out about tabata last week when looking for cycling music on the net. Seems interesting
  8. Haven't got my fixie yet, but this is what I do to get out of the house quicker than in the past. Roadbike: Bought a BBB holder(looks like a waterbottle and fits in bottle cage) and in it is my medical card, tyre levers, puncture kit, chain link and multitool with chainbreaker and a pump. Extra tube(lightweight and small) taped to seatpost. When I go for a ride: grab cellphone, keys, helmet, sunglasses(always leave it in helmet) and waterbottle with carb mix. Off I go. MTB: Also lightweight tube taped to seatpost. I have two CO2 canistars attached to frame. When I go for a ride: grab cellphone, keys, helmet, sunglasses(always leave it in helmet) and waterbottle with carb mix. Also grab (tyre lever, chaintool with most used allen key, chainlink and CO2 dispenser all taped together). Off I go.

    CRC

Frame is mongoose fireball. Here's a pic of when I bought it. The colour of the grips and stem is actually more of a red. Crappy camera on BB makes it look orange. The components will be pretty basic, but I think the end product will have the looks

    CRC

Those spank handlebar grips actually smell like cherry. It's said to last 6 months. They are cherry red. Check out the size of the mtb and road tubes. MTB - around 100g Road - around 55g (super light and small) Second pic compared them to normal tubes

  13. Get a roadbike bro. It's sometimes nice to go and train with the roadbike as well.
  14. Not big second hand market. That's why I decided to build one. Found a frame, fork and wheels over the last few months and got the rest from crc. If you're not in a hurry, watch the hub. They do come along once in a while
  15. Here's a couple of DJ bikes. Must be some of the coolest looking bikes. They can also be used for urban riding.(Playing around in the city)
  16. How about Dirt Jump. Was also looking at something to play around on and decided on DJ. Have a look at youtube videos. You're not gonna balance or wheelie, but you will jump. Busy building up my DJ bike
  17. Have been riding fine with 23mm as well. I usually ride vittoria
  18. Well f...ing done bro. How about component breakdown?
  19. Decided to rathet tackle the road and had an awesome hill session. Pushed my hr into the 90's each time at the top of the hill to the tunes of rocky, iron man 2 and american flyers themesongs. Usually I have trouble getting my hr into the 90's during a race.
  20. Tyerone. Easiest way is to get a phone with gps. I use sportypal or gpsed with my blackberry. You can use any gps device that can output a .gpx or .kml file. These file types can then be imported in google earth or www.mapmyride.com Seems like a good time to upgrade your bb to a newer model
  21. how fast is my car? You see what I'm getting at george? Also, it took me 3 seconds to find Choosing a tyre Always remember that asking a question in a thread involves other people taking their time to help you. So first do the research and if you still can't find an answer, then give us enough info and ask away. (I'm so over working today, hence my answer)
  22. Ok here's another idea. Slick makes clothing that has a polar strap integrated into the clothing. Adidas also makes these, but they are for running. To follow some of the other ideas, try to superglue it to your body.
  23. I'd rather cycle to joburg cbd alone on a friday night as far as safety goes.
  24. rustige mtb at groenkloof and some road hill sessions at klapperkop afterworths
  25. I bought my bike second hand with campy chain. Have done 4000km on it and will probably do another few 1000's before replacing. You guys are rough on the chains
