  1. I've noticed that many walkers are taking to the tree line ST now, with and without their dogs. Despite calling ahead and offering some warning they are not very interested in moving off but rather stop and turn. Had one or two close calls. Thankfully I haven't come across many dogs on the top trails (masters' too fat to get there I think), only love-sick youngsters looking for a quiet spot...
  2. Are you sure that the rims are spec'ced for that pressure? I know my 355's have a maximum pressure allowed relative to the tyre width. While the tyre may say 4.5bar, you are the first person I know of who runs the tyres according to those pressures. But your problem should not be occurring regardless. I would agree with the defective tyre idea since the ZTR have the bead-lock technology which should really prevent that from happening. EDIT: The max for the rim is 40psi (3.5bar) from what I gather. So while the tyre/rim combo is failing, you are really at the top end of pressure.
  3. Hey CAAD. Nope, not me. I have a anodised slate Santa Cruz Superlight. Was riding with a woman.
  4. There is some new single track cut (red route) on the way home after crossing the river on the narrow bridge. Very sandy and needs a lot of riding in. Very scenic.
  5. I'm also looking for something out in this area. Seems to be little to none!
  6. Will give this a try on the weekend now that I know where I should be looking. Sounds like it could be interesting.
  7. I had a very similar experience with EasyGIS and to boot they were a whole lot cheaper than the rude, uninterested and ignorant shop staff that I encountered on my hunt for a Garmin Edge 500. Well done Matthew and EasyGIS! You will get my business again and I will recommend you to anyone and everyone.
  8. You missed the BEST bit - the rocky ST near the river it seems. What you need to do is when you come out of the ST near the dam, turn hard right and head sown hill. There is a sign but it is higher up (about 15m) on a wooden pole which shows the route 1 and 2 direction and another showing route 3 down the hill. In the figure the red line shows the ST and the change in direction required. The green circle is where the signs are, approximately.
  9. SteveS, I have done the same route and it comes out at around 41km. I'm sure I didn't miss any boards so can't believe at this stage that it tops out at 45km.
  10. I can understand a water bottle falling out without the rider being aware of it. Has happened to me. But the mass of GU's, USN Vooma etc is very sad. I even tuck the tear-off tab from my GU into the leg of my bibs with the sticky sachet. Come guys, lets want the land owners to have us back on their property next time rather than having them refuse entry due to litter.
  11. 61kg, 1.73m and I would consider a medium build.
  12. I can't believe that result. Sorry. Got lost and maybe took an unintentional short cut to the finish? The next thing on the list is the seeding/batching! This seriously needs to be sorted out.

    SA seeding

Hey, I did the Trailseeker #1 and started in batch E for the 40km (43km actually). I did a 2h06min and now in batch E again. Going to the SASeeding page I cannot find myself under Gauteng but I am under National and KZN, with both showing the same set of results. So it's updated, but not in the correct place.
  14. You'll might then end up having to support "recognised dealers" only which will blow a hole in your wallet. I don't like this at all!
  15. You just won't get a 29" anywhere near that prince unless it is a HT and well used.
  16. Did you just keep putting the R3500 away each month or just saving the extra cash? Amazing how quickly it adds up!
  17. Yea, you are need it if you are going to keep falling like yesterday ...
  18. D, substitutions are closed. I believe you were only able to swap entries during the week.
  19. I'm so sorry to be leaving PMB now! Patches! Let's get kind of thing organised in JHB.
  20. I know it's a case of each to their own but do you think it's a feasible idea to stick with the 39t in front and use a higher toothed cog in the rear, like a 22 etc. Depending on the tooth options available? Don't really want to have to shell some Rand on a new chain ring when I could make do with what I have already.
  21. Yes, the 2x10 have a different BCD ..... I think it limits my options extensively. Research shows the BCD is 120mm on the outer (big) ring
  22. So.... I can use the outer ring, put on a suitable tooth ring and then just line it up with the rear cog? Sounds excellent then!
  23. Many people want to convert a 3 ring crank to a single. I want to convert my SRAM S1400 2x10 crank to single speed. Any ideas if this is possible and how?
  24. I'm at a loss for words! Stunning!
